UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Bill shared this nice looking M-38A1. The jeep’s supposed to have only 4850 miles on it, but given the engine was likely pulled and painted (and rebuilt?) at some point, I find that claim hard to believe. Perhaps they are miles after engine rebuild? There are a few other clues that body parts were repainted as well at some point.

It runs drives steers stops great all 4×4 has been tested and works great as well. Drives very nice for its age! no rust issues it is solid inside and out, you won’t be disappointed with this one ! I do have a original soft top side windows and soft doors, the doors and side windows are in pretty good shape but the soft top will need a little bit of work or replaced. Absent good, supporting documentation, we never trust the mileage on military Jeeps. It was easy for a motor pool Sgt. to order one swapped out for whatever reason and easier for the new civilian owner to do so. We have at least 6 NOS speedos for that model on our shelf. Can be swapped out on an A1 in less than 30 minutes. That is, however, a nice looking 55 A1.

Can’t help but wondering though why the axe and shovel – especially the shovel! – aren’t where they should be.

The shovel placement on the side is strange, because it also shows one under the hood in the correct location. If you bumped into it with your leg, it would slash it wide open! There is a handle on the passenger side dash that appears to be a parking brake. The one between the seats has been removed. I wonder if this has to do with the gun installation, I have never seen that handle assy. before?
