Mike spotted this Jeepster body. This appears to have potential based on the pics.

“This Jeep body has been sitting in our garage for a while now and we want to get rid of it. It is in good condition and has little rust. It is in Montclair, NJ. Pick up or shipping at buyers expense. Price is $1500, or best offer.”

This post is interesting to me for a number of reasons. (trivia kicks in) First of all, if you look at the location map within the post, the seller is located between Valley Rd & Grove Street. Just so happens there was a Willys Jeep hobby business guy located right in the middle of Valley RD net to the old A&P. I have a feeling this may be one of his old projects. Montclair was once a mixed, upper and lower class town, that now has become Upper “Artsy Fartsy.” So to have a Willys Jeepster body sitting in your garage for years, is unusual. The guy that ran the hobby business is long gone, maybe 40 years ago. Short first name, like Tab, or Scott, Rob. He had a few late 40’s flat nose Willys pickups sitting along Valley Rd.

Reason #2. Back in the early 1970’s, I sold my 1960 Willys wagon to a guy who lived right smack dab in the middle of that area on Wildwood Ave, his name was Sheldon (Shelly for short) I used to go for bike rides from my house in Clifton, 5-6 miles to his house just to visit my wagon. (I kid you not) It sat in his garage with the garage door open, and I could see it from the street. Sat there for the longest time, then one day, it was gone. My heart ached, wished I had never sold it. Even though I now have a 1962 wagon from my childhood, If i could find the 60 wagon, I’d buy it back. Whew, that was a long short story. Rainman has spoken.
