“I Bought this jeep for a total redo. Previous owner I’m told owned it 20+ years, garage kept and it shows. Divorce forced sale. From the pile of receipts I have he was slowly redoing it. The mechanical work seems to be all done as it runs great, shifts good with good oil pressure. I bought it not running as it was about half way through a 12 volt conversion which I finished and the carb was shot.
It uses a rebuilt 12 volt generator with pertronix ignition to replace the points, new battery, coil, voltage regulator. The wire harness looks to be home made, I planned to replace it but everything works including turn signals. I put a rebuilt carb with new base from Whalcks (expensive) on it and it starts, idles, runs excellent, Super smooth. My plans were to replace the body with new. I drive the jeep around town about once a week, brakes need adjusted. I have many boxes/totes of spare parts, lots of the parts are new. I have many books that came with the jeep as well.
-I installed a complete new parking brake with new drum, cable, yoke, seal, springs, and pads, works great. New front brake shoes, springs and cylinders and greased front wheel bearings which looked almost new.
-All original drive train and runs, shifts, and clutch are good. No smoke or oil burning. 4 wheel drive and low range work.
– All fluids and oil filter changed.
-body tags present and numbers match title.
-Body tub looks good from 10′ away but is full of Bondo and shoty body work but no visible rust. Front fenders and hood are fiberglass. Frame is very good but has had some welding on the front frame horns behind the bumper which could use some cleaning up but is straight, see pictures.
-I have MANY extra parts some new. Some of the big stuff includes 2- dana 44 rear axles from cj3a. 1-dana 30 front axle with large drum brakes out of early cj5. 1- original hood, 1-additional fiberglass hood. 4 additional 16″ rims from cj2a with very little rust and ORIGINAL paint and pin stripes! Wheels on jeep are miss matched original and early truck rims. Tires are all the same but old and dry rotted.
-Original color looks to be pasture green
-Sears lock out hubs
-has under dash heater but not hooked up.
-Have original air cleaner, not in photos.
Reason for sale is I just don’t have the time and I have other jeeps to build. I cant bring myself to heavily modify this one as its all there and original with a somewhat low S.N.”
