UPDATE: Gil’s hoping to reconnect with he Shakespeare family, so I’m reposting this in the hopes some family member might see it.

Original Post January 18, 2017 — Bill shared the video below from Jack and Doreen Shakespeare. Together, the couple recount their 1958 journey in a late 40’s wagon from Australia to England. The trip took them 114 days. Fortunately for us, they filmed much of the trip. It’s a great story.

What a great story of love and commitment, not only to each other, but also their Willys wagon. The Brits and Irish are great story tellers, and this gets better with age, as represented here. The spoken words with the British Brogue remind me of my dad, his Irish brogue was gentle, easy listening. The Willys wagon 2 wheel drive right hand drive, 4 cylinder I assume. What a great adventure, and to have this on film, Thank for posting this great moment in obscure history.

    Hi
This is a long shot. I’m a relative of Jack Shakespeare and would love to re-connect with the family, Jack was my father’s cousin. Having only met them once when they visited in England I have no contact details. I guess both of their daughters are married and would be difficult to trace with a name change.

    Hi Gill,

Hopefully, someone will search one of the names and can track you down through here. It’s one reason I post these stories, as you never know when relatives will try to reach out.

I’ll reschedule this post for Tuesday morning. It’s a long shot, but maybe that will help,

    Best of luck!
