This August 07, 1941, article in the News-Herald out of Franklin, Pennsylvania, underscores that Harry S. Truman was going to “blow the lid” off the “lobbying” actives of the OPM as a result of American Bantam being “frozen out” of a jeep contract. Truman showed them, lol.

One rumor had the Roosevelt family owning a substantial amount of Willys-Overland stock and that they used their influence to steer the contract towards that company. I wonder if that could ever be verified, the stock ownership I mean.

    Steve,

I’ve never heard that. I’m not sure how it could be verified at this point, but who knows? I’ll keep an eye out for it.
