Original posted Dec 10, 2021: Anyone familiar with this unusual took kit that’s been listed on eBay for $80 obo? Was it included in any jeeps or just offered as a dealer option? I would guess it was available in the early 1970s?
I’ve had these same tools for years, but didn’t know they came in a Jeep-marked tool kit container. Here’s my tools (there is nothing marked “jeep”).

I can tell you the patent number is from about 1962.
looks like they were made in taiwan ? — whats better ? taiwanese jeep tool kits or chinese jeep tool kits ? — soon there will be only one CHINA — and another thing , what could you possibly fix on jeep with these far east flea market tools ??
Dad had a set like that back in the late 60s and 70s and I seem to remember it was a give away type item. I am pretty sure our set wasn’t from Jeep.

Perhaps those tools didn’t actually go inside that plastic box? Or, someone just applied a jeep sticker to the box?
I agree, the tools are pretty useless. I only kept them around as a curiosity; but I don’t ever use them.

I have a similar tool by Versatool from the mid 70’s (judging by a different patent number) but with attached screwdriver bits. Here is an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/112810303473. Mine is also stamped with “National Chemsearch”. I guessing these were promotional items as well as being sold in stores.

XI is wrong. Amazingly, this kit is “MADE IN U.S.A.” (Not USA the island off Formosa). It’s on the underside of the box. I believe the tools were correct for the box, but I’ve seen them in vinyl envelopes also without a promo label. Magnified the photo and saw no indication of it being a sticker, so probably a legitimate promo given by salesmen or for sale in the parts department. Not unusual. Jeep offered a cheap tool kit in a brown vinyl envelope in the early 60s as a promo. We see them on ebay more than this one.
