I am sorry to report that, until further notice, ewillys is on hiatus. I will provide an update in the next few days when I learn more about my health situation.

Thanks for your support, interactions, corrections, and, in many cases, friendship. It has been a most interesting journey.

    Dear Dave,

Unfortunate to say the least, but for you a little rest from ewillys will most likely do you good. I do hope all works out well. You, by the way, most likely need time off anyway what with your move and all else you are facing. I just want you to know how much you have helped me regarding anything Willys over the years with your website and know too I visit it every day. Know too, your book “Slag” was and still is at the front of all other books on my shelves. You are a scholar, and a gentleman. Do your best, and take your time in the near future so your healing can take place. I pray for you, your wife, and your entire family. Cheers, Stephen

BIG DAVE — HANG IN THERE — WE ALL HURT — BUT JUST LIKE A WILLYS JEEP — WE ARE TOUGH ENOUGH !! — SINCERELY — VERNON

I only recently discovered your site, but I am glad that I did. It led me to rejoining the community after about 20 years. It is a wealth of knowledge and a great resource and I hope that it can continue in the future. That said please do take your time to get well and I wish you the best.

Thoughts and prayers for your health and well-being. The site has been a beacon in the flat fender community for quite some time; you’ve done an amazing job. Coop

Talk about a “cliffhanger”! I haven’t slept a wink worrying about those stripped allen bolts.
Before I found your site, I hadn’t owned a flatfender for over 30 years, moved on to Broncos, 4X4 trucks, XJ, YJ’s and TJ’s. Now I have 3 drivable flatfenders and 5 basketcase flatfenders all which I found on your site. You actually saved me a bunch of money. I was just about to pull the trigger on a brand new 2018 Rubicon Recon when I bought a 51 Willys instead. The way I figure it, just the sales tax and fees on that new plastic electronically controlled Rubicon is about what I have invested into 3 drivable flatfinders. and they put a much bigger smile on my face! So thanks!
You deserve a rest, looking forward to your return.
Btw, have you heard of Flatfender Aficionados Monthly??? (Flatfender.com) I just found them today.
Okay, off to Craigslist, dang I gotta do this myself? ‘spoiled’ lol!

Wishing you the best going forward. Not knowing what health problems you are experiencing is unsettlling and worrysome. You are a researcher. Use that ability to find the answers and seek the the best help available. Looking forward to your triumphant return.

  19. Craig Cakouros

I was shocked to read you have health issues. You always think of your family first and tend to their needs above everything else. It shows your character as a human being. Now, you must take time for yourself to heal! My morning routine on the computer is….check email, read ewillys, then g503…as it still will be. Thoughts and prayers are with you from Maine. Be well in body and mind Dave.

    Dave-

Just take care of yourself and Ann, that is what’s important. We will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers as you learn more about your health issues. I have been with you since early on, and we have been able to personally meet a couple of times here in Phoenix at Jesse’s along with Craig Brockhaus. We are a long distance away, but contact is easier with phones and computers, if you need anything we can help you with, let us know.

    Take care my friend!

  34. Matt from MI

    Dave,
Please take care of yourself and Ann, get some much needed rest and feel better soon. I love your site! It has taught me so much over the years, and helped me through some tough challenges and decisions, all the way up to two weeks ago when I bought my first 1953 M38A1 Basket Case from a father and son in Sturgis, MI. Last weekend, my kids and I successfully read the severely painted over and sanded VIN plate with a microscope, something they will never forget. To this day, adventures I have in my Jeeps have created far better memories and stories than any other hobby I have experienced, and you Sir have repeatedly inspired me to push on and do more. Thank you.

  35. Barney Goodwin
