“1951 Willys JEEPSTER touring car. Rare 6 cylinder flathead engine. 3 speed transmission with overdrive. Runs ands drives. There were very few 6 cylinder models made and even less still around. All early Jeepsters were 2WD. This car has been converted to 12 volt with alternator. This car has been stored indoors for the last 15 years. This is a good project car with no apparent damage and very little rust. It comes with 5 original wheels and 5 original hubcaps. It also has a spare soft top frame. It has a clear title and current Non-Op since it was last registered a few years ago. The odometer reads 00068.5 miles. I have more photos. This car has been sitting for several years. It starts and runs. Selling As/Is. No warranty. Asking $8500. Make me an offer, the worst I will say is ‘No thanks’ This is NOT a Wrangler! Facebook has no listing for Willys and you must select a current vehicle to list.”

167 six cylinder jeepsters sold in 1951 — most were re-titled 1950 models , some were assembled from leftover parts — this one does have the ” made by jeep ” brass emblem on the lower left cowl — famed rocker neil young has a 1951 jeepster , bought in the los angeles area in the late 60’s — the lightning six engine was not that rare in these models compared to the 1949 models ..

I seen some videos of him driving the Jeepster and a few shots of his junkyard from someone I knew who played with him. Word has it he was driving that car when he spotted Stephen Stills in traffic in LA and formed the Buffalo Springfield as a result.

Bob , He was driving a hearse , a 53 Pontiac hearse that he and Bruce Palmer , Buffalo Springfield bass player had drove down from Canada . The Jeepster has some big history also , In 1970 Neil and Johnny Barbata , the former drummer for the Turtles , drove it from LA to Neils new ranch on the SF peninsula . In the back seat were Neils guitars and gold records . That must have been quite a drive ? They were probably smoking whatever and quaffing cervezas , all the the way up US 101 !! I know thats how i used to drive my Jeepsters ! I later sold Neil a part for it and got a bad check , though he made it right . I read last year that Neil wont drive his old cars anymore , they are not EARTH FRIENDLY !! He will drive his 59 Continental LINCVOLT hybrid though . It has a small ford internal combustion engine so whats the beef ? I think he will drive old Mercedes diesels too , but only on BIO-DIESEL !! I just spotted a 59 Continental here but its a 2 door hardtop , needs work , 430 auto , Neils is the desirable convertible ..
