1/6 Scale Model Jeep From MegaHobby.com

UPDATE: Just to be clear, this is not preassembled. It is a kit that needs assembly.

John forwarded me this link to a scale model jeep kit, roughly 22″ long, being sold through MegaHobby.com. At $260.96, it isn’t cheap, but it appears to be a detailed larger scale model. The model is produced by Dragon, which is short for Dragon Models Limited, a company out of Hong Kong, that has been making military diecaet models since 1987.

Just to be clear, this is a model kit, not a pre-assembled diecast.

I did some checking, the basic kit (without the .50 cal) was released back in 2010. If you go to the Dragon Models website and go to the 2010 “New releases” page, you’ll find a detailed description of it.
Wipers work, as does windshield and hood latches.
The Jerry can is made up of several pieces and has a removable filler cap.
    Pretty detailed.
The decal sheet had a full set of numbers so you can make About any good number.

It you own a 1/1 (full size) Jeep, it would be fun to use it as a painting and detail guide.

Thanks John … I also understood it to be a model kit. Maybe I wasn’t clear about that in the post, so I will update that. It does seem very detailed.

    Thanks,

But does it have an engine to build? That’s the deal breaker for me without an engine. Was at a model show the other day and saw a 1/6 scale ‘brass era’ Model T I was going to purchase, until I opened the box to discover no engine detail. Any large scale model kit should have the COMPLETE vehicle to construct.

Just my $.02 worth of opinion…

I checked the Dragon website…and it was ambiguous but said he hood can be displayed open or closed, so I would assume the engine is in there.

I checked an online kit review and IT IS NOT INCLUDED!!!
Hard to believe that they would make a model with workable steering and removable pioneer tools…in addition to the other previously mentioned features…and NOT have an engine.
An engine was available as an aftermarket accessory. And talented modelmakets, who to be fair are the target audience for this kit, could easily scratchbuild one.

I know some MV owners can be a bit “frugal”…i.e. cheapskates, but anyone with a restored Jeep should have this.
The 2010 price was $100…so 12 years later and an added machine gun…
We are long past the days of 98 cent airplane and $2.00 car models when I was a kid.
