New to eWillys? Here is a very brief synopsis of this website: You can Contact Me with questions, comments or concerns. The image to the right is of my Jeep - Lost Biscuit. Learn more about eWillys, about Me or read the FAQs.

1. This website is dedicated to pre-1980s Jeeps &/or Willys, though it mostly focuses on flat-fenders (MBs, GPWs, CJ-2As, CJ-3As, CJ-3Bs, M-38s, DJ-3as). If you want to post something (your build, your jeep or sale, etc), you will need to contact me.

2. Most of the content on this site relates to flatties that ARE or WERE for sale on craigslist and ebay. My interest here is to help people buy & sell Jeeps & parts; to educate about 'old school' modifications and available parts; to make connections with other Willys Enthusiasts; and to entertain.

UPDATE: Kevin suggests this might be a Maverick.   The Maverick Wagon was a co-promotion attempt between Willys and the Maverick TV Show.  You can learn more about it at the CJ-3B Page.  You can learn some additional details by a commenter on the IMCDB.

Here’s an example of what the Willys America restorers are calling a Maverick Wagon, though the commenter on the IMCDB suggests these wagons were only made for a short period during 1959. I don’t know what to believe at this point??

Note the carrier on top and the wood paneling on the hood.  All look factory to me.  The driver’s door definitely looks different. This might be a unique restoration project?

    It looks like a Maverick…

  2. deilers Says:

    Aren’t those really rare?

  3. Kevin Says:

I hate to say anything is rare, except for my steak…you are right however, not many made or survived…Maverick was a great western show as well.

  4. Chad Says:

The Mavericks were only two wheel drives. The roof rack is probably aftermarket of some kind.
The top (grey one) appears to be a very nice example of a Maverick…..the bottom one, not so much.
The trim on the bottom one is a mixed bag….the hood seems to have been replaced. It uses the front spear from the ’61-’64 Maverick-type trim but if you’ll notice, the rest of the side trim is the ‘hockey-stick trim which is what the ’62 4wd truck would have had on it……My opinion, not a Maverick (unless it’s been converted to 4wd and had the body trim changed…..it’s a ’62 4wd Wagon.

  5. Chad Says:

As far as “rarity” goes…..the ’58-’59 Mavericks used the ‘hockey stick’ side trim, the ’61-’64 used the ‘rocket shaped’ trim. Sometime around ’61-’62 willys stopped referring to the 2 wheel drives as ‘Mavericks’ but the trim and Maverick serial number designation (581) was the same. So I guess you could say that rarity of the ‘Maverick’ is the same as if you declare a 2wd Willys wagon rare or not.

Thanks Chad. That’s helpful. I couldn’t find anything definitive (well haven’t found it yet on the web) about the Mavericks.

You might want to check the Willys America website…..most of that info came from there. Paul Barry is probably the reigning restoration guru of these vehicles. He puts out a very nice catalog with much reference material. Worth the price if there is any inkling of an idea that you might work on a truck, wagon, or station wagon at any time in the future…..the website is http://www.willysamerica.com
