Here are some slides with jeeps currently for sale on eBay. The first one is an unusual tour jeep that I hadn’t seen previously. It’s somewhere at least semi-tropical, based on the upper right tree.
1. Here’s an FC-170 setup as a tour jeep. It appears to include a bed-extension on the back.
2. This slide shows a yellow CJ-5 and a ticket office at Harney Peak Black Hills SD:
3. This next two slides share images from 1962 of a Maine Forest Service MB. This is slide one:
4. This is slide two:
5. And, finally, this slide shows a rare yellow DJ-3A used by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce. I don’t have many vintage photos showing a DJ-3A in the original yellow color (though they do appear on several brochures).
Looks ready for the Cascades.

“1956 Willys Garage kept since 1991, Buick 231 V6, power steering, Power breaks, Hydraulic clutch, Stainless roll cage, 3 speed with Warn OD. Also has Warn 8,000lb winch, Warn Lock-O-Matic hubs, Spring over conversion, 11″ Gladiator breaks, Super Swamper’s (still new) centerline rims, 5:38 gears Posi traction front & rear and more. My jeep is spotless but hasn’t been driven in while due to health reasons. Because of not being driven much the rear main started leaking causing the clutch to glaze over, they will both need to be replaced, if I do it the price will go way up.”
Looks in good shape.

“Project truck runs but needs love. New brakes need bled. Nice seats. 283 V8 3 speed. Bought it for $3500 replaced brakes and here it sits. I will take a loss on it just to get it gone but $3500 is rock bottom firm price. Will trade for fishing boat or classic pickup truck. These Willy Jeeps are small I barely fit in it and I really would like to not be working on old trucks anymore. Would rather go fishing. I have some extra parts for it. It’s really solid old rig just shows age. Price is firm so don’t waste time offering less. Clean title in My name ready for transfer”
UPDATE: price dropped to $6500.
(10/13/2023) Unclear if the rear floater are original or aftermarket, but it does have side indents.

Scott spotted a story about Louis Mattar and his amazing Cadillac Fleetwood, which he and friends drove non-stop from the west coast to the west coast and back. Later, he drove it from Alaska to Mexico City, again non-stop. The article is worth a read!
Here’s the article from Haggerty: https://www.hagerty.com/media/automotive-history/more-than-70-years-ago-louie-mattar-drove-6320-miles-non-stop-in-his-fantastic-perpetual-motion-machine/
And, I found this video:
]
And this earlier video from 1954, which shows them changing the front tire:
Finally, here’s a more modern CBS report about the car’s new home at a San Diego museum:
Matt’s selling this stock CJ-5. He wanted to give eWillys’ readers a first shot at it (thanks Matt!). This is sold with a bill of sale only, though it does have a serial number.
“Up for sale is my 1964 CJ5. This is a very original CJ5 that still wears its original president red paint. Odometer reads 2,900 miles. This Jeep came from the family of its original owner who used it as a runabout on his farm. It does not currently run but everything is there and it should run with a bit of work. I did open up the transmission to make sure everything was okay and it was like new inside. I believe it was parked in the 80s. Unfortunately it was parked in a damp part of the barn so the tub has a decent amount of rust. Front floors are completely rotted out including the toolbox floor. Rear floor and wheel wells have a few bad spots but are usable.
The rest of the jeep is in pretty good shape and the front fenders, hood, grille and windshield are very nice. Tailgate is nice too and still has the original 4 wheel drive stencil on it. Frame looks to be solid with just a little rot in the rear crossmember/bumper. 60/40 bench seat with original fabric. Tailgate chain covers are still intact. Really a time capsule of a CJ5. Nothing has been cut up or modified. This Jeep is perfect for someone who loves patina/original paint survivors and is willing to go through it mechanically, put some new front floors in it and enjoy it just the way it is. That was my plan but I just don’t have the time. Asking $4500. Sold with a bill of sale only. It does have a serial number. Located in Connecticut. Thank you”
Sounds like a good build with a variety of updates.

“I’ve had this for many years in my garage and body is clean with no rust. I recently had the transmission rebuilt within the last few years and still has a minor leak under pan. Will need new brakes. These are the old specs I have and still up to date to the best of my knowledge. New battery and heater installed recently.
“1950 Willys CJ-3A, NO RUST, very solid all steel body on 79 DJ-5 frame, 231 Buick V6, Almunimum radiator, push fan, 400 turbo automatic transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, centered dana 44 limited slip flanged axle rear end. 3.73 gears, Dana 30 front end with 11in brakes. Full roll cage with padded top tubes, new steering wheel, tub is durolined. 33×12.50×15 tires with less than 1000 miles driven. 2″ receiver hitch on custom square tube rear bumper. gas tank under back. Levi Strauss edition front and rear CJ-5 seats. New turbo mufflers. All new wiring. Tilt wheel, saginaw power steering, new Rancho front lift springs and 5000 shocks. Bikini top only. Engine runs strong, cold starts and warms up fine. (I do not know any mileage of car or engine). This is one a CLEAN, V6 Automatic cj3a done right. zero rust and garaged.””

“Hi I’m selling my 1942 Willy’s jeep. -Runs, drives, stops. -clean title, current registration through end of year. – original flathead 4cyl. motor – original 3 speed manual transmission – all lights work – new seats – was converted from 6v to 12v at some point – I have a full soft enclosure for it that’s in rough shape, can go with it if desired – Grill has been swapped out for a cj3 grill I believe – home-made bumpers, has a little bit of body work done in the back so rear lights are integrated into bumper. – aftermarket relocated fuel tank. Awesome rig! Could be made great with a little more love. Right now it’s a super cool running and driving project.”
