Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Here is an unmodified Willys flathead Jeep with very little rust and no patch panels. The only rust I have noticed is in the outside fender steps and one small area on top of the rear wheel well. The foot, gas tank and tool box wells are solid with no repairs. The wheels and buzz saw have been sand blasted and power coated. The original L134 flathead engine runs strong and all 6v electricals work including the gauges and horn. Turn signals have been added but the original wiring harness has been left intact. Vacuum windshield wiper works (except when going up hills). Transmission has an oil leak; shifts well with no noises. Steering is tight; brakes need adjustment. Clutch rattles when pedal is depressed but works fine.
Includes a complete buzz saw assembly that attaches to the rear of the jeep. It is driven off a flat belt pulley on the rear PTO. The PTO drive shaft is bent but still works. It comes with an engine governor which needs a control arm. The speed control handle is still present on the dash. Also comes with top bows for a soft top.”

(04/06/2017) Don’s selling this running, driving, early 3A.
“1949 Willys CJ3A. Survivor.Very early production three digit serial number in the 300 range. Axle build dates 11-48. Windshield date 12-48. Probably built late 1948 or early 1949. Nice frame and very solid body. A couple of rust areas in the tool box,under the fuel tank, and small spots on the front floors but should be able to fix without pulling the body but we use it as is. Very good 6.00-16 size NDT tires. Original Harrison heater works. Shows 24,000 miles but unsure if they are original. Have clear NC title. New or rebuilt parts include:
Rebuilt replacement engine with new pistons,rings,bearings,gaskets,oil lines,crank turned.
New clutch,pressure plate,throw out bearing.
New fuel tank,fuel pump,fuel lines,rebuilt carb.
New master cyl,wheel cyls,shoes,lines.
New water pump,hoses.
New rear hubs.
New wiring harness,voltage reg,rebuilt starter,rebuilt generator.
Other misc parts including a bed extender, two T-90 transmissions, two model 18 transfer cases, and a Beachwood canvas top with door frames. Canvas has some dry rot but could be used as a pattern or used as a barn find look.
Has some original patina paint.
Transmission scrapes in 2nd gear and will need new syncronizer blocking rings and seals.
A Very nice early original Willys CJ3A Jeep that could be used as an original survivor or restored.”

(04/15/2017) Cargo area has a diamond plate floor.
“My uncle has decided it’s time to part with his jeep and has asked me to help him sell it. It is a 1952 willy’s cj3a. 4 cylinder motor, spicer dana 44 posi-trac rear end, t-90 transmission with a warn overdrive. It also has a pto winch. The heater and wipers work. He has had this jeep for along time, at least 30 years and probably longer. He has told me that he rebuilt the motor, painted and undercoated the body since he bought the jeep. He had to have done this sometime soon after he acquired the jeep because I don’t recall him doing anything like that for some years. He is in his 80’s. Anyhow this jeep runs like a top.
I went for a short drive the day I took pictures and it’s incredible to me how smooth everything ran and shifted and also how quiet it was. I didn’t see any rust in any areas other than where your feet sit on the floorboards. The rear of the tub has been replaced with diamond plate, before my uncle owned it. Included are the rear seat and all the bows for a top as well as the door frames. The jeep also has a am/fm radio and a cb radio. I took about 15 pictures which I can send to serious buyers. The jeep is located 2 hrs from my house, so I can’t show it to everyone and will have to plan showings out in advance. Serious inquiries can call. Thanks for your interest. Mike”
