This 1959 Jeep Forward Control was part of a private Willys collection in California for over 20 years. Prior to the 2000’s it’s only other known residence was Nevada. As far as can be seen, this little truck has had an exclusively dry desert life before recently coming to the northwest to be put back on the road. Built by Willys, its cab over engine layout was based on the Jeep CJ-5 carriage with a short 81″ wheelbase and 74″ bed. This being the rarest year for the FC150, 1959 saw just 1,500 built. It’s equipped with the 134ci Hurricane inline-four, paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a three-speed transfer case. The seats were reupholstered and paint retouched as well as it appears that the engine was overhauled along with other systems sometime ago in its past. All sealed up with no leaks. Continue reading

“The remnants of lettering on the driver’s door indicate that this particular truck belonged to a bricklayer early in its life. I assume that the bricklayer bought this truck with the intent of installing the flat bed because adding the flat bed to the factory overload springs in the rear would have been ideal for hauling building materials. It also appears that they improved the roadability of this truck by replacing the original 4.88:1 gears in the axles with 4.27:1 gears that were available many years ago but have since been discontinued. Jeep enthusiasts agree that is why this truck has so many miles on it while other FC’s did not.
The manual locking hubs in this vehicle were obtained from Sears & Roebuck, which sold automobile parts in their catalogs from sometime in the 1950’s into the 1970’s.
In poking around the truck some, I have determined that it wore red and white paint at one point in time. Otherwise, it seems that a youngster got ahold of this truck, did an extremely poor job of installing a 4-inch lift kit, and promptly took this truck off-roading where they ran it up onto something. Whoever this was did an equally poor job of trying to replace the radiator and an even worse job of fixing the broken steering.
I have since replaced the sector shaft, pitman arm, drag link and bellcrank with the later, upgraded versions which I obtained from Harry and Jo at Midwest Willys. I also installed the shift plate underneath the cab while I had the shifter assembly out for new rubber bushings.
The truck does not run at this time. However, I have pulled in a new wiring harness from Walcks that I never finished installing. I still have the instructions for this harness and they will be included.
The truck is an ugly survivor with a broken rear window. All of the other glass is good and I put some used tires on it during the summer of 2021 as the old bias-ply tires finally gave up.
I hate to see it go, but, life seems to be taking a turn and I do not think I can give it the time, effort and attention that it deserves.
I am asking $3,500.00 and that is a firm price for an old beast that comes with a title.”

“1959 FC 170 flatbed Jeep truck. I have a clean title for the truck, the truck runs but needs a fuel pump and new wiring. Truck does run and I have drove it. It could use plug wires and points but it doesn’t knock or have and internal noise. Has a new radiator core. $3000 and does not come with original wheels. I have other wheels that I can put on the truck. This is the first year production of the FC 150 and is a narrow track model. Extremely rare truck with a good windshield still in it, which is very hard to find. It’s the deluxe cab and has the extra windows in the cab. Truck has tons of bondo but has a solid frame! The truck is complete and the only thing I’m keeping are the original wheels, but I have another set to put on it. “I have a 1950’s Jeep COE for sale short bed 4WD! These Jeep’s are very hard to come by. As you can see from the pics it’s got a lot of rot in the body. This is not a project for the average person. David shared this FC with an Alaskan camper. At first I thought this could be the FC/ camper combo that was driven around the world by Dorothy Rogers and Louis Ostberg, but the FC below appears to have a utility bed under the camper.

“Rare and hard to find Jeep FC-150. This jeep is a great candidate to be restored. It is mostly complete with the exception of a passenger seat. The windshield has no cracks and is in great condition. The body has rust in the typical areas in the rear cab corners. Roof gutter rust pictured is minimal concern as it is all surface rust and roof is solid. Vin # comes back as a cab and chassis series and the wood floor flatbed is from the original owner and the jeep has been parked indoors for the last 20 years. The engine has been swapped and it now has a gm283 which was done by the previous owner. I bought this to restore but have not done any work on other than collecting a few parts which include: extra dash, fuel tank and leaf springs.”
