Pics from the 2nd Annual Northwest FC Get Together

• CATEGORIES: Event, FC150-FC170-M677, Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The 2nd Annual Northwest FC Get Together was this past weekend in Olympia.  Josue was kind enough to forward some images from the event and give his take on it.

Josue writes, “Last weekend was the first opportunity I have had to visit a Jeep get-together. It wasn’t a huge turnout but it was definitely worth visiting. The meet-up was in Olympia, WA and it was specifically for Forward Control Jeeps. This was the second year and only about 8 showed up, although I’m sure it will get bigger with time. It was fun talking to a few people and seeing a couple of them run.”  Thanks Josue!

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.

“1962 Jeep FC-170. This is a bone stock truck with the exception of the wheels and tires. Has had alot of work done to bring it back from the dead, runs and drives as well as an old jeep would. 226 Super Hurricane flathead 6 engine, T90 3 speed trans, T18 Transfer case. Since owning this I have cleaned and flushed the fuel system, rebuilt carb, rebuilt the rear brakes with all new parts, including new model backing plates to be able to move the E-brake to the wheels instead of the drum behind the transfer case. Brake is still on transfer case, this was done for later powertrain upgrade. Read diff has had the posi unit rebuilt with OEM clutches, and new axle bearings. Front wheel cylinders are replaced and a new master cylinder. New water pump and clutch. I hate to let this go, I was looking forward to putting in a modern powertain and having a completely unique truck to use, but priorities have changed.”

This looks great.

“Wow…..here’s a very rare and very unique piece of American Automotive History!!!! 1957 Jeep FC-150 4×4 Pickup. This gem is a well-preserved, 2-owner, ultra-low-mile vehicle fresh out of a private collection, available here to the general public for the first time since in was new!!!  The original owner of more than 50 years lived in a remote area of the Northwest and owned 2 vehicles……..an air-conditioned Cadillac and, you guessed it, this 1957 Jeep Pickup that he special-ordered and bought brand new. One vehicle he used for his weekly commute to town in the summer, the other, in winter. The Jeep lived a privileged life, clocking just a tad over 13K original miles on the odometer!!!!!! The truck has been regularly maintained over its entire life, and looks, runs and drives great. The Hurricane 4-cylinder motor starts easy and runs like a watch. It is easy to drive, feels safe and secure and the cab-forward design gives the driver great visibility and excellent maneuverability. A very rare, very collectible vehicle……and a very rare opportunity……don’t miss out!!! Call today! Tel: 360-416-4995 …”

UPDATE:  Price dropped to $2750 … it appears this was SOLD

“This little sucker is COOL, with a capital K! This is a running registered and stopping Willys Jeep FC-150. Rare little gem that she is, she is the last car I want to sell of the many cars I will be selling to meet this months mortgage, so the price is more than I think it would probably sell for locally unless it went on ebay, but I really dont want to sell it. It does have bad rear cab sorners, and some rust in the floor of the bed, and some at the flat floor areas and door corners etc, but overall is really really cool. I wouldn’t do a dan g thing to her except tinker and drive. She is a blast to drive around town, though she isnt super fast do to really low gears , and the anemic 134? 4 banger. Shoot me offers, but keep in mind I really want to keep it, so I am going to try an sell the others cars cheap first. Willy’s or Willys works also.”

1958 FC-170 Fire Engine Dinuba, Ca eBay

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Steve reports that this sold for $5600 with only two bids.

Jean-Sebastien spotted this unusual find.

“This is a Jeep FC 170 four wheel drive flat bed truck that has been made into a fire engine. This vehicle was originally used by the US forest service around Yosemite and later sold to a church camp just outside of the park. The vehicle was garaged and used by the church camp for insurance purposes. The vehicle is in extreemly good original condition. All equipment is stock except the windshield wiper motor which was changed to an electric model instead of the vacuum type. The vehcile runs strong and starts up promptly everytime. It has the 6 cylinder motor with a 3 speed manual transmission. Warren “free wheeling” hub caps to secure four wheel drive. The interior is in very good condition, as you can see by the pictures. The odometer shows 30,000 miles, but the speedometer cable broke so I can’t say what the actual mileage is. I would say not more than about 50,000 original miles. The fire apparatus has a 250 gallon tank with a 5 hp gas motor that both starts manually or with an electric push button starter. Pump works great and all seals seam to not leak. Vehicle comes with 200 feet of fire hose ( cotton single jacket), 150 of 1 1/2 and 50 ft of 1 inch. Two variable plastic nozzles with 1 1/2 fittings. There are two yellow helmets and a first aid kit. All gauges work (except the speedometer) and two new gauges were added for oil preasure and temperature. Body shows some signs on repair around the passenger door handle, but otherwise the vehicle is in good overall condition for the body. Vehicle runs fine and all mechanical parts work good. Brakes are in good condition as are tires, clutch and transmission. There is no slippage when shifting. This is a fairly rare vehicle and would be well suited for a ranch (for insurance purposes) or another church. Please e-mail any questions.”

1960 FC-150 Wilder Vt eBay

UPDATE:  This is back on eBay

(03/16/2010) Here’s a nice looking build with an engine and tranny update.  It still needs some interior work.

“Rare find, 1959 Jeep FC-150.  This is a stock appearing FC-150 that has the following modifications/improvements:
1. Chassis has been sandblasted and painted with POR15.

2. First engine was the wimpy 4 cylinder and I then changed it to a V6 Dauntless from a 1967 Jeepster after resealing and rebuilding all rotating components. Engine is fitted with headers and dual exhaust.

3. Transmission was changed from the 3 speed to a Turbo 400 automatic.  There is no evidence inside the cab that it is an automatic.  The shifter is the original and the pedals are all the same.  The Brake and the Clutch pedal have been joined.

4.  There is a new wiring harness and new instruments installed in crinkle finish dash.  The interior is without headliner cardboard and doors do not have cardboard panels installed.

5.  New windshield and rear glass, one door has new glass.

6.  All NEW springs, not rebuilt. New Shocks, new Brakes.  Front axle has disc brakes.

7.  Body has NEW cab corners, NEW floors.  The cab was plastic bead paint removed and spray weld to treat any traces of rust.  There are no bondo patches anywhere.

No stories, I have had it long enough and I dislike interior work so I never finished the interior.  It is quite powerful and runs like a bear.  I have never had it off road in 10 years.  My Son needs a car and my wife insists on airbags.  I have over $15k in this at this point but it is time for it to go. There is no title as Vermont does not title vehicles over 15 years old.  Sold on a bill of sale.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

“This “Go-anywhere,” “Tough-job traction” truck is on the market here for the first time in over 20 years.  Originally purchased from a glass co. in OHIO by the current owner.   He has done a complete frame off restoration as you can plainly see in the photos. Introduced in 1957 the Jeep Willys FC-170 was wider and carried a heavier load than the FC-150.  It has a Kaiser 6-226 motor inline 6 that is good on gas.  You won’t get stuck with high/low option 4WD and LT235/85R16 tires.

The bed is made of appatong wood said to be 5 times harder than oak for those heavy loads.  The truck has a 7,000 lb. GVW, a 103″ wheelbase with a 108″ bed.  The Cab-over design is very unique. There were approximately 2,000 FC-170’s built in ’61.  You will be guaranteed to be the hit of the car shows…”

1961 FC-170 Dually Marysvale, Ut **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  This was bought for the ‘buy it now’ price of $8000.  Thanks Dennis!

(11/24/09) I like it, in part because it looks like it still gets used.  Marysvale is deep in the middle of Utah.  I’ve never been there, but I’ve been jeeping out of Mt. Pleasant above Marysville.  I’ve also flown over that area a number of times and scoped it out pretty well (you can see a variety of trails from above) with the idea that I’d go jeeping there at some point.  Also, the San Rafael Swell is a good area to explore also and is ignored by most tourists (or used to be).

“Willys Jeep FC-170. Dually flatbed. Purchased restored & used as light duty ranch truck. Stored inside. Still in nice condition. Has stock engine & transmission, 4wd. Was previously used as a parade vehicle but now carries a Lincoln welder (not included). Interior is all redone with blue velour seats. Runs & starts good in warm weather. It is not run in the winter. There are external exhaust pipes on each rear corner of the cab – sounds great too. This truck shows 80,000 miles but seller cannot guarantee actual milage.”

It looks in pretty good shape.

“1961 Willys Jeep FC-150 Pickup. Original 78 horsepower four cylinder engine, three speed manual transmission, 5.13 geared Dana 44 axles front and rear. High and low range four-wheel-drive. Brand new reproduction Firestone 7.00-15 military lug tires on factory 15” steel wheels. These trucks were built on the CJ-5 platform and featured a cab-forward body and a small pickup bed. Only 1,298 1961 FC-150’s were ever built and there are only a handful left in this condition. Beautiful Mountain Green Poly and Palm Beach Ivory two-tone with beige interior. Very reliable and can be driven anywhere. I've got a friend in California that has an old firetruck he would drive to work every so often.  I always thought that would be fun, but I think this firetruck would be even cooler.

"1959 Willys Jeep FC170 Forward Control fire truck. Runs good – may need some brake maintenance. 7,200 actual miles. Manual Transmission. ALL ORIGINAL!  This vehicle has not been stripped. It is 100% original – even the windshield wipers! Includes Fire Extinguishers and fire blanket canister (with original fire blanket inside). Even the lights and siren are working! The headliner is begining to come down and the interior needs some work. There are no dents on the exterior. The vehicle has only been driven in local parades for the past several years."

1963 FC-170 Stake Bed Dump Truck San Luis Obispo, CA **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

The term ‘rare’ accompanies a variety of FC-150/170s.

“This extremely rare 1963 Jeep Willys FC-170 4X4 is both a stake bed pick up and a hydraulic dump bed. The trucks prior owner was into these vehicles in a big way and kept his eyes open for the right FC to purchase for over 15 years. He acquired this truck from the original owner and had it for another 15 years until illness forced the sale. The prior owner advertised this as “Very Complete & Original all the way down to the Windshield Washer Bag that hangs on the dashboard.”
