“I am selling my WW2 1943 Ford GPW Jeep. I really don’t want to sell it but its time for some of them to go. This jeep is a really nice one for never being restored. It is all original except for a few parts, the roll bar, front bumper and the gas tank, It is out of a cj2a, the engine is a willys. It has a new speedometer, fuel gauge and water temp gauge. Has a new fuel-sending unit. It has new front brake shoes and wheel cylinders, I have the rear brake shoes and cylinders I just have not had time to put them on. The generator has been rebuilt; it’s the original 6v system. Has original transmission transfer case, axles, seat frames, windshield frame, hood, grill, body and frame. 1943 GPW West Seattle, Wa $2300

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1943_gpw_westseattleUPDATE: I’m a little surprised this hasn’t been purchased already, but maybe the project is bigger than it appears.

This might be a good price.

“This is a 1943 Military Ford Jeep GPW vehicle. My father purchased this Jeep with hopes of restoring it to it’s original state. Unfortunately we have other vehicle and rental projects and just do not have the time. This a really a great Jeep and a classic. This is a perfect vehicle for someone looking to have a project and make it their own. The Jeep is in need of some rust repair and the installation of a new timing gear and timing chain. My Father has already purchased a new timing chain, timing gear, new transmission knobs, and new U-joints for the jeep and are all included in the sale. The jeep also comes with an spare engine, gas tank, tire, and a complete jeep manual booklet. What’s great is that they still make every part for this jeep. This is a great jeep and ready to be taken good care of. The price is firm only because we believe it is a very good deal and considering the jeep comes with a spare engine and the other parts mentioned above. If you would like further information regarding the jeep you can reach my father at 206-947-8153 and myself at 206-999-3809.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This GPW is for sale by Matt at Edmund Angelus Automotive (view some of his work here).  Matt has done some fabulous flattie rebuilds.

“Item up!  A  ’44 Gpw. This is an ALL NUMBERS MATCHING unit!!! This unit also has less than 26-k original miles and under the hood it is very much in tact. If you are a PUREST, or not,k and looking for a GPW to restore, it does not get much better than this. Believe it or not, i am having a bit of separation anxiety about selling this one. This one is my baby, the one i spent Two Years trying to buy from the previous owner. You Know the type, Hords of Jeep parts, yet you have to approach them with a Lunar Lunatic Shemelment on Just so you appear to be from their same dimension. The only problem is returning to the real world with the part or said jeep. The motor does run! It will move under its own power. The cons are as follows….”

1944 GPW Connersville, IN **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

It doesn’t look too bad in the pics, but the seller suggests it is ready  for a complete restoration.

“This is a 1944 Ford GPW WWII Jeep,  serial #232700, with matching Ford engine numbers; there are many Ford script parts on this Jeep . It appears to be all original and is in need of a complete restoration.   Jeep was painted several years ago by previous owner and bondo and sheetmetal work was done sub standard.   Bondo is chipping from metal and needs to be blasted off – also all floors have been patched and cut on and a civilian gas can was installed at one time and has now been removed.  Jeep rolls freely, shifts in all gears and ranges freely. ”

Last Ride: 194? MB/GPW Mailbox — Secaucas, NJ

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB), Last Ride, MB • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1943_mb_secaucus2UPDATE:  I suspect this jeep is on it’s last ride. It’s now a mailbox.

A reader submitted this unusual find.  Yes, the seller of this old jeep somehow used it as a mailbox (I think the mailbox is on the back of the jeep), though technically I’d argue the jeep is more of a mailbox pole. While I firmly believe that the jeep has earned the reputation as one of the most modified vehicles in history, the use of a jeep as a mailbox pole is particularly rare.

“Willys jeep. Military, of about 1944. No engine, no trans, no papers, but lots of rust. For a long time I used this old jeep as a mail box; if you buy it, I won’t be getting bills anymore. For $400., you can be sure that your bills will find their way to your door.”

1943 GPW Pottstown, Pa eBay

It’s a good looking GPW.

“Originally purchased privately in January of 1983 in Heightstown, New Jersey.  Has been garage kept since purchase, and believed to have been prior to also.  It was primarily used for parades, re-enactments and static displays.  Entire body and interior is original, including seat covers, ID plates, and windshield.  Body was stripped down and repainted.  Some additional body work and mechanical work required to get into show condition.  Still has 6 volt system, may need new wiring harness.  Generator rebuilt in late 1980’s.  Motor rebuilt at time of purchase.  Shimmy in front end when driven and small stone chip in driver’s side of windshield.”

Year? Hotchkiss? Santa Fe, NM **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB), MB • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.

“This vehicle needs a ground up going over. After some research it appears that this Jeep went through the French Army rebuilding program first in the early 1950’s then again in 1962. This is a Willy’s. It belonged to my father and sat in a barn back East for 20 years. The engine is seized because of rust. It is complete with all parts. It has the oversize generator and battery box between the seats for powering radios. The body has some bondo under it’s last military paint but has no rust through and is solid. Hotchkiss.”
