Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This jeep was reconditioned in the late ’90. For the past two or three years it has been parked in my barn. As a result of not being run the fuel pump has stopped working. With a $30 rebuild kit and a complete cleaning of the fuel system this jeep will run fine. It has been used primarily as a show vehicle being displayed in various parades and events. It is in excellent condition and would make a fine addition to someones militaria collection. The markins are from the Korean War era and the unit was reconditioned to represent this period.”

“You can own the best military jeep Willy’s made with the better springs, rear end and improved seals. This jeep is in very good condition and it is very collectable and hard to find! It has the original engine with 24200 miles on it. The engine was rebuilt at 19058 miles. It has a 12-volt system with elec/vacume wipers, army data plates and black-out switches. I located a couple good pics of MOMA’s 1952 M-38A1 which was donated by the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. I would suggest calling ahead to make sure this is still on display if you want to see it. However, the M-38A1 is not the first jeep to be highlighted by MOMA. In September of 1951, the Museum of Modern Art in New York decided to exhibit iconic automobile design as pure elements of art & design. One of the eight vehicles chosen was the M-38, with the description as a “sharply rational vehicle”. You can read more about that at the Jalopy Journal.

It’s got a nice top and runs, but has some rust issues.
“1952 willys, all orignal except for 12 volt system. has the 134 f head 4 banger that I have running it will drive around, but the brakes need to be worked on. there is bad rust on the passenger and drivers side floor boards. outside the body is in ok shape a dent here and there. 2 of the tires leak down every day or so from dryrot. bottom line is it needs work to drive. call with questions I don’t reply to emails”

Here’s an original, lightly used Jeep.
“1954 willys military jeep. under 30,000 miles. has recently been painted. tires are original and in good condition. all parts are original except 2 new batteries, no canvas top. have some metal frame work for top. body , inner wheel well and framework appear to be rust free. been in storage for 18 years that we know of. reduced to $3,000.00.”

It looks good from a distance. Not a 1951.
“I restored this 1951 Willys Military Jeep with M100 trailer to original condition. Many new parts; brakes, wheels, shocks, exhaust, glass, canvas, seats, new rebuilt engine, transmission, differential, paint, electrical, lights, fording equipment, etc. The jeep is registered and has a clear title. I won a trophy for the class at a local car show this past fall. I would like to sell the jeep and trailer as one unit for $19,900.”
The paint job appears unusual, but the drive train has been rebuilt.
