Well researched pedigree – Purchased new in 1955 by Frank C. Moore, Lt Governor of NY from 1951 to 1953 for use on his Great Camp in Indian Lake, NY. Kept at the great camp from ’55 to 1985 then transferred to a groundskeeper in 1985-ish. Then sold to another individual around 1987 or so. Then sold to a fellow in Canadice, NY. Then sold to me. I’ve had the truck since early 2007.

Runs very well. Body o.k. obviously a bit of rust but solid and stable. Brakes are good although they must be pumped. Frame as good or better than most you will find Roughly 3,000 miles on new non-direcitonal military style tires. Gauges work. New plastic gas tank.

This runs and looks good for the price.

“Running all original truck. Current registration. Clear title. 4X4, 4 cylinder, lumber rack that slides into the stake pockets, painless wiring harness professionally installed (still 6 volt).

I shopped for a long time to find a truck as straight as this one. I was not looking to restore to original, I just wanted a straight body. When I finally found the body I wanted, it came with a complete running truck. I started gathering parts (engine, tranny, axles, etc.) to modernize it but felt guilty about messing with a complete truck. I recently found another one and this time it was already sitting on a different frame, new motor etc. So now I can sell this truck and I hope to someone with intentions of restoration. It is in good shape so not much is needed but I will list what I think it needs:
Paint job (I have been sanding when I have time)
tires have good tread and hold air but they are looking old
rear window was cracked so I removed it in anticipation of replacing it
some tie rod ends need replacing (vibrations when you get to 40 mph or so)
If you plan on driving on the highway an overdrive will be needed
It has an am radio but it doesn’t work (I started removing it so you will see it is loose in the picture)
It has a heater that looks like it came from something else but looks as old as the truck. It was not hooked up so I took it out and went through it. The fan works but I found a small leak in the heater core that should be easy to solder.
It has an old spot light.”

Not perfect, as the dash is missing a couple items, but this truck looks good.

“Im selling my winter project. Its a 1955 Willys Pickup with 4×4. It has a twin stick transfer case to control front and rear axles independently. I have a clear title for the Willys. It does turn over and I was told it ran when I bought it in December but I have a lot of work right now and can’t let this sit around gathering dust. The gas tank needs repaired/ replaced and otherwise it should be a good runner. All glass is good, windows even roll up and down. Does have rust, came from North Carolina.”

“2 willys jeep trucks. 52 in decent shape, take little work to get running. Fresh rebuilt engine swapped in, new wiring harness not finished. Front axle broken with good replacement on second truck. Rear axle is a more rare timken heavy duty. No title for 52 truck originally form MT and all stock. 53 truck in worse shape. No engine, good cab. Bed is savable. Everything still there except engine and firewall is cut out by previous owner. Must have had a larger engine in it. Bought it for parts but could make a good truck with some work. You could make one good truck with axle from second or fix the axle and make one good stock truck and a good modified truck with newer drivetrain! Neat project, some extra parts come with it all. Modifications are, 12V alternator, split dual master brake cylinder, and electric windsheild wiper motor. 226 ci “Hurricane” flathead engine, .030 OS with recent ring job. Front bumper valance, and accessory windsheild visor. This is a turn key vehicle, it is on the road daily and performs as a 1957 vehicle would. Wipers, defroster, turn signals, radio, gauges, CB radio, horn, interior light, 4X4, everything is there and works. Only non working item is fuel tank sending unit, and some cracked window glass. Really a great functional truck, used last week to haul wood, two months before and currently to get to work in the snow. Clean title and currently registered. Have extra misc.engine and body parts.
