Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The body has had some bodywork, but is supposed to run. It has a Ford GPW block that was rebuilt in Germany.

“1948 Willys CJ2A, powered by a “Go Devil” L134 4 cylinder flathead engine. 3speed T90 transmission and Dana 18 transfer case. Jeep runs and drives good, shifts through all the gears and 4wd works in high and low range. The brake shoes and wheel cylinders were recently replaced, including the brake shoes on the back of the transfer case. Complete new exhaust from the manifold back.
There is evidence the jeep has had body work during its lifetime, the body is very solid with no major rust. In my opinion the jeep has a killer look and I would run it as is. Tires all hold air, due to age and sidewall cracking I would replace them before running this any distance in the road.
According to the data tag on the side of the engine it was rebuilt at Karlsfeld Ordnance Depot outside Munich Germany in 1953. The engine runs extremely well and has the best oil pressure I have seen on a L134. The block I’m told is a late WWII block and has a Ford GPW head on it. Priced below market value at $9,500”

“Runs and drives well. Does over 50mph. The previous owner had this a long time and did many modifications. It has a Dana 44 narrow track rear axle. I believe the front is upgraded also. Saginaw steering setup. The motor is an early 70s 2.0 Ford. The floor has been patched numerous times. Either way it’s a drivable 2a with paperwork and I’m firm on the price. Original vin tag on firewall, current RI registration in my name”
Bill shared this article about a Virginia chicken coop that housed a variety of vehicles, including a CJ-2A. Apparently, most of the vehicles (included the 2A?) are for sale.

“1946 Willys Jeep, 283 Chevy with a 4 speed manual transmission and overdrive makes this a great low gear go anywhere Jeep that you can actually drive down the road an enjoy. Spent most of its life in AZ before being shipped to Spokane 4 years ago. Purchased from the 2nd owner who purchased it from the original owner in 1968. Includes full top and doors, Bimini, rare original backseat that removes in seconds and original tow bracket with hardware.
Has rear air shocks, dual fuel tanks, GPS speedometer with the rest of the gauges being factory original replacements. Volt meter with 12v and USB plug, LED dash lights, LED tail lights and programable LED whips. Gets tons of compliments and is a blast to drive. A tremendous amount of time and money has been put into this Jeep. “Heap of a Jeep CJ2A. Dad’s old Jeep that’s been owned since 1960. Been sitting outside and completely rusted out. Has a title, the T-90 transmission and both differentials plus transfer case. (05/02/2022) Given the indents and the full floaters, this might have been a 1945. If there was a column shift, it’s been replaced with a floor shifter. Just one pic provided.
“46 CJ2A runs drives and stops. I have the original gauges in a box. She needs a new tub and body package. A rewire once you have the tub off. I’m trying to not loose too much money. My mechanic retired and I don’t have the tools to finish her. More pictures available upon request. She’s been parked in the barn for a while I’ll have to drive her out to get better pictures. A good starting point for an original restoration or installing an updated engine. Frame seems to be in good condition. Engine mounts have not been altered or cut. Frame has not been cut.
