1946 CJ-2A Rapid City, SD **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was for trade.

This seller is looking to trade for a truck.

“I have a 1946 Jeep Willys cj2a im looking at trading for a 71 chevy shortbox pickup. I would prefer a 4×4 but a 2×4 might be alright too if its in good shape. Engine doesnt really matter neither does transmission really. It should run or be close it but i wont turn down a good project if its in good enough condition.  My jeep willys is a 46 Cj2a and is complete minus a gas tank and ignition. Clear title in hand yours should be too. It comes with a brand new tailgate, windshield frame, seats and all rubber seals. The jeep is taken a part right now but sits as you see it in the picture. I picked it up a few years back and just havent had the time to get into it yet.

Tires hold air just fine its been garaged for the past 5 years so shes ready to be restored to your liking. It still has the original hurricane flat 4 engine too which turns over smoothly. All new brakes on it too. wired 12v instead of 6v now.

Im located in rapid city. I can trailer the Willys to you within reasonable distance for milage if you dont live in the area. I may take cash for the Willys too if your interested but dont have a nice shortbox for me. Shoot me an email and we can go from there.”

The pics aren’t the greatest, but this might be nice.

“I hate, hate, hate that I have to sell this Jeep. I purchased in the early 2000’s and have 293 recorded man hours into the restoration. I have a full photo album of pictures from the very early stages through completion. However, none are online. I have taken a few pictures of the pictures with my camera phone.

Too much detail to go into regarding the restoration, but I do have a printout of everything that went into it. It runs well and is started weekly to keep everything in working order. T-90 Transmission and Transfer Case Model 18. Engine: #J45856. This restoration is one of the nicest that I’ve ever seen. This jeep is a great collectible and a piece of American history. Please feel free to ask questions, I’ll do my best to answer. $15,000.00 OBO… Make an offer!”

1946_cj2a_haywardUPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.

(04/09/09) Honestly, I’m not sure if that’s a paint job or paint peeling.  The seller says this is a ’46, but the grille and body look more like they are an MB/GPW.  so, the actual year of this vehicle might be earlier.

1946 CJ-2A Fruitland, Id **SOLD**

It has a full soft top in good shape, and it also comes with a bra top. Brand new all season radial tires.  After market heater that really warms.  New clutch, Runs great.  Body in good shape, could use a paint job.  Weak points:  Windshield wipers needs one motor, bubble in hood (see photo), needs choke cable.”

1946 VEC CJ-2A Palos Verdes, Ca $10,000

UPDATE:  This is now on Craigslist for $10,000. This was on eBay.

(11/04/2010) This is a fine looking CJ-2A with some polish that likely runs and drives well.  What puzzles me is why it lacks VEC and CJ-2A elements.  I would call it a frame off rebuild, but I couldn’t call it a frame off ‘restoration’ (I would expect a “Collector” to know the difference — perhaps the seller was mislead).

Sure, it has the tags, along with an ID of 25588, but, given the seller’s asking price of $14,500, it should also have a column shift, tool indents, the correct parking lights, the bow holders, original bumpers, body drain holes near the steps, the bow mounts at the rear corners and a few other things. Also, why paint it the correct color, yet not paint the wheels the correct Autumn Yellow?

“First of all please note my stellar feedback so you can bid with confidence. I expect the buyer to be the same. Out of my collection is this very original 1946 CJ-2A Willys with matching civilian 1946 TC-3B Bantam trailer. This Willys is a frame off restoration. It is refinished in the original and correct color of Harvest Green. It has the correct original running gear: 134-L Go Devil engine, T-90 trans and Dana 18 transfer case. This Willys would do well in any show and is turn key ready. Best of all, you can drive it anywhere.  The reserve is set MUCH less than comparable vehicles on the market and this INCLUDES the Bantam trailer. Odometer shows 47,290. I don’t know if this is actual or not. The following are all new or professionally rebuilt. Look at the pic’s…”

1948 CJ-2A Lexington, Sc **sold for $4500**

The auction on this just completed on this very stock jeep.  This was a one-family jeep that looks very solid and appears fairly rust free, though the floor boards deserve some inspection based on the floorboard pic.   This didn’t last long (less that 24 hours) before someone offered the buy-it-now price of $4500.  I’m a little surprised it went so quickly for that much. It does have the original bill of sale (last pic) which is cool.

“I am selling my 1948 CJ2A.  I am located in Lexington, SC.  This Jeep was bought brand new by my Grandfather in March of 1948.  I have the original bill of sale as well as a clear title.  My grandfather passed away in 1987 and the Jeep sat in a barn until 2007.  The Jeep is now in good running order, but I do not have the dedication or the funds to take it to the next level of restoration.”

Builds: Chad’s Ford Model A Roadster PU Willys

• CATEGORIES: Builds, CJ-2A, CJ-3A, Features, Unusual, Willys Wagons • TAGS: .

Here’s a wonderful build, an experiment by a reader named Chad.  He wanted to know what a Ford Model A Roadster would look like if Willys built it. So, naturally, he built one himself!

He writes, “Did all of it myself except the upholstery, in my home garage. It’s got a flathead V8 for power and took between 6 and 8 years start to finish. The dDrivetrain is flathead V8 adapted to a C-4 automatic adapted to Dana 18. Front axle is Dana 27 w/Corvette discs….rear is Dana 44 with one piece axles and Lock-rite geared 4.27.  I thought maybe it would be a four year job, but stuff happens  and there was a whole lot of headscratching to make things look ‘somewhat factory’. I used as many factory parts as I could but not necessarily the way they were used ‘by the factory’…..(those are Jeepster tailights, but they aren’t mounted that way on a Jeepster, just as an example).”

Great work and thanks for sharing!
