Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here’s an unusually stretched CJ-2A.
“Unique extended body, 18 “ in middle and 18” at rear. Great metal condition (top and bottom) for a 62 yr old vehicle. New brake system(master cyl, lines, hoses, shoes, wheel cyl), stops great, quiet engine runs like a top, 20-40 lbs oil pressure, 7,900 original miles, new gauges, no cracked glass, new OD seat covers, running temp is fine, new head gasket, shifts fine, good clutch, no ‘death wobble’, tires balanced and 4 wheel alignment done June 10th 2010, all gear oils recently changed, tight shifter, 134ci flathead 4 cyl, charged 1942 CO2 US Navy Fire Extinguisher, Replica 50 cal gun with ammo box and dummy rounds, manual windshield wiper, tight steering, horn works fine, all lights work, manual turn signaling by driver, Bikini top, Drives at 45 – 50 mph with no problems, 10 gal fuel tank with manual gauge, Great parade vehicle with rear seating for 6 to 8, tires are 2 years old with a lot of miles left, exhaust system is fine and quiet, Original radiator works perfectly with no leaks and has not been repaired to my knowledge. Based on the pics, I’d have to say this looks very good. I have little doubt this seller has built other jeeps. If someone completes this well, it should look great.

That little steering wheel must be hard to crank without powersteering.

“I am going to sell my 48 CJ2A in order to restore a 3A I have been wanting to rebuild for some time. This jeep is in very good condition. Original 4cyl 3 speed. with NDT tires and rims including mounted spare. Solid jeep not perfect condition but very nice. Jeep RUNS and DRIVES. Starter is acting up and fuel lines could be flushed as it has set in a shed for two years but was licensed and on the road in 2006/2007. I also ran recently with gas through carb. Belonged to an older gentleman who fixed up to drive in parades. Couple spots in floor board(Small)and one wear mark on drivers side paint but very good. I havent seen a cleaner original split windsheild frame and I have seven jeeps. Jeep has obviously been repainted at one time but nicely done and no visible bondo. Clean tailgate, frame, body ect. Possibly willing to help deliver at purchasers expense. Clean nebraska title with original serial num. and plate If you have questions, call me 308-325- 2858. One of the bodies is a VEC body.
“I have 3 Cj2a jeeps for sale. The first is a rolling chasis with body and T-90 transmission and spicer 18 transfercase. I do not have the a hood or windshield. This jeep is very solid and straight. It has a little rust but nothing major for it’s age. The next 2 jeeps are tubs only. One is has had some repair nice repair work done to the floor boards and quarters. The other tub is in several sections and has rust. I am also selling an aluminum hard top with hard doors. These are very hard to come by. It is aluminum so there are no rust issues! Only serious buyers should reply. These are original jeeps and are only getting harder and more expensive to find. I may have a few other misc parts”

The body almost looks like a VEC as it appears to have an indent on the side.

This VEC is a column shift with a Koenig hard top and a bumper weight. The starting bid is only $850.

Here’s a nice looking CJ.
“48 Cj2 Jeep. Has later F-Head motor completely rebuilt. Holds 45 lbs. oil pressure hot idle. Has had all overlap seams removed. Has some body filler but not much. Has urethane liner on the under side and inside. Mechanically very good.”

This looks like it’s in good shape. With the solid body and plow, this might be a good deal.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $700. It appears the seller has put some of the ’46 back together again based on the most recent pics (the two pics on the top).
(02/27/2010) This looks like a pile of parts. Note the cage is probably for a CJ-5, which is why it doesn’t fit properly in the front. I like the two old slot rims. I think you’ll need to get two additional jeeps just to make one whole one out of these two.
