Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (12/22/09) I can’t tell if the paint is peeling on the passenger side of the hood or if it has an alteration of some kind.
“This 1946 Willys Jeep 4×4 has: Chevy 350 engine, TH350 automatic transmission (new rebuild), Spicer 18 /20 transfer case, Desert Dynamic hydraulic winch, Dana 44 rear and 30 in the front, Edelbrock carburetor, 33 x 12.5″ tires with a full size spare, Brand new Painless wiring harness front to back including fuse block. It comes with a fully enclosed soft top with doors for the winter and a bikini top for the summer. Runs great! We are asking $4,500 but will take any reasonable offer.”

“1946 Jeep Willys CJ-2A, all original and completely mechanically restored! This car is very collectible, but still a very capable Jeep to drive. I have owned this Jeep for 25 years, and spent over $5k restoring original engine and mechanical system less than 50 miles ago. Jeep features all original major components, and starts and runs with ease. Jeep has been garaged at least since I’ve owned it, and has virtually no rust. Jeep is in excellent mechanical condition, and good/fair cosmetic condition.
-Restored original “L-134 Go-Devil” engine and mechanical (I-4, 3 speed manual trans)

Here’s a nice looking, stock CJ-2A up the road from me.
“this is a red jeep willys. has all stock except the front fold down windshield. The wheels are not stock either. has a new heavy duty exaughst system on it. Its the 4 cyl motor. 3 speed manual tranny. all it needs is a starter replaced I think. I put a new selonoid on it but still clicks. The 6 volt system was converted to 12 volt. It is nice jeep I just dont ever use it anymore and it is sitting in my yard. (Im to tall for it also) so anyways Im asking 3300 OBO. It also has a Vinal top with the doors. oh its a 1947 too… the 2nd year it was out to the public. sorry I dont have any of the farm attachments for it or the PTO. also have a tow bar that comes with it if you want it”

It appears there have been a variety of mods to this Jeep. It includes a Warn OD.

“1947 Willys CJ2A with a CJ3 windshield. Jeep ran last summer, however it sat all winter and now will not start….turns over, just won’t fire. Many new parts including: battery, plugs, wires, cap & rotor, gas tank, electric fuel pump, alternator, recovered seats. Jeep has good 31 x 10.50 tires on CJ wheels, 2 spares included. I’m not a mechanic, however I really don’t think it will take much to get it to start, just a little time and knowledge. No title, but I do have the VIN Plate. I live in St. Charles, but the jeep is on our property located in Cedar Hill/Desoto area. Cash only and must pickup, I do not have a trailer to deliver. Great farm or hunting vehicle. “This Jeep was going to be a “project car” which I have not set aside the time for. I have used it for the last two years just to plow my driveway. The master cylinder was just rebuilt however the brakes do not work. The plow works great and it comes with an excellant condiiton best top with no rips or tears. The motor runs great and all aspects of the four wheel drive system function as well.”

(03/27/2010) “1947 Jeep Willys 4×4…. All Chevy running gear….Including a 4.3 V6, power steering, tilt wheel, and power disc brakes…. All gauges, head lights, tail lights, and blinkers work great…. It has really nice seats in it…. I would like to trade for a 4-wheeler (I would prefer a 4×4), or something else cool, maybe even a cash offer? The tires in the pic DO NOT go with it….the wheels, if you want, can go with it….I have some other smaller BFG’s that can go on it if you wish…. Thanks….”

Here’s an unusual build.
“It is a 1946 willys Cj2a jeep It runs great. It moves but there is a noise in the transmission. Dont have time to play with it anymore. It has 3 inch’s of lift plus the spring over conversion so all together probable 6 inches of lift. With brand new 35 inch BFG all terrains.”
