Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have For sale a Willys jeep. Everything is there to put it back together (-the wiring harnes and the fuel lines). The body is all metal. The tail gate has Willys stamped in it. (Very hard to find.) The motor is all together and sitting in the frame. It is filled with oil and can be turned over my hand. I am asking $9,000 OBO”

The dealer selling this CJ-2A has provided a large number of good quality images. This looks pretty solid.
“1947 JEEP WILLYS. MUST SEE! VERY GOOD CONDITION! Runs and Drives Great! This 1947 Jeep Willys was brought from Missouri to Texas a few years ago. It has been kept in a barn since. It is almost impossible to find a Willys with this little of rust! LOOK at the PICTURES! Transmission shifts smooth through all gears. Engine fires right up and runs strong. (10/1909) This is a non-running project.
“I was told it was a post war CJ2A. It has the transmission still in it, has the doors inside, the top is removable. It is 4×4. I have the motor for the jeep and most of the parts. I am not sure what is missing. Body and frame look solid. What you see in the pictures is NOT rust! The color is some kind of a redish color and has faded and sun bleached and looks rusted. There is some rust but you have to look closer to see it.”

Note the unusual Dash; there are two large gauges. The body appears stretched along the entry area.

Here’s a very early VEC! VIN#11435
“Here we have a highly sought after 1945 Willys CJ2A for parts or restore. Serial number is 11435. Frame, firewall, and dash tags are all there and in good shape. ACM numbers on toe board and tail gate are both 1583. Jeep comes with a clean WI title (VIN #11435). It’s generally pretty ruff and will take quite a bit to restore but has a lot of hard to find 1945 CJ2A parts on it.”

(02/13/10) This needs some work. The seller honestly admits there is a crack in the transfercase.
“215 olds V8, 5.38 gears, lockright locker, rebuilt engine, transmission, transfer case, clutch, starter, and brakes. It still need work, tires, top, shock mount repaired, and some wireing. There is a crack in the transfer case, but it has been there for 10 years, isn’t getting any bigger, and only leaks a little. This was my daily driver for 10+ years. I have wheeled it a lot, and it can go places I won’t. If you are over 5′ 10″, you probably won’t fit. 831 278-0047”

“I am testing the water” I have a 1946 Willys CJ2A in running condition. The Body has been patched up and is somewhat presentable. looks good as it drives by. It has the original flat top 4cl engine. The electrical has been updated to 12v. The brake wheel cyls. and master were replaced 3 years ago but now not functioning correctly. When you brake it pulls hard to one side. The steering has had some parts updated. Original seats have been recovered. It has old chrome rims with tires that are shot. I have the original rims but they will need restoration. The water pump was replaced 2 years ago as well as the exhaust. The frame is in fair shape. Put a glass tub and some new springs and drive it. It also has a tow bar. As stated I am testing the water. I would like to trade it for a CJ5 or CJ7. Maybe some other type of convertable. please send Pics and discription of what you have…”

“This old jeep runs and drives! It’s licensed with new plates and has new none directional tires with less than 50 miles on them. I had the carb rebuilt a month ago. Still needs a little fine tune. I have a tow bar that fits it great so if you have a two inch ball on your truck your ready to pull it home. The old jeep also has a new battery. I’m open to trade for old rat rods,model a truck or coupe,or old cushmans. I’m not really looking for much else, cash is always best. My very best price is 2,900 firm. Please keep in mind it runs and drives and has license now! and the tires with mounting for none directional are expensive”l
