Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. No engine. This is a good restorable jeep. t90 tranny and dana 18 transfercase work. Nice aluminum wheels. throw in a buick v6 and drive it. some hundreds of dollers in newer suspension work. Hate to sell it, but need cash.

The jeep might not run, but if the top is as good as it looks and the winch works, then this is a good deal.
“All original, flat head 4cyl, twin stick transfer case, even the oil fill air filter. New fuel pump, rebuilt gas tank, newer soft top, newer carb. It doesn’t run now but it wouldn’t take much to get it there.”

Check out the rear end on this jeep. If that’s a modification, then when it was done, it was done nicely (now it’s a bit beat up). If that’s original, then it is rare! I’ve done some searches, but they haven’t yielded any suggestion that this is a production length….

It says it’s never been used, but it looks like the front clip was ready to be installed. If it is in as good as shape as advertised, then this is a great price.

It looks like a nice jeep. If it is really a 1949 CJ-2A (rather than a CJ-3A), than it’s one of only 2182 produced that year.

This jeep’s body looks pretty straight. It looks like there is a muffler on the driver side, but none on the passenger side?

Given this is a non-running project that has had some mods done to it, the price is a little high. I don’t see any obvious rust on the body and the back looks pretty straight, but I can’t see much more from these pics.

Get out your welder. This might be a decent deal depending on how good the condition of the body is.

James found this cj-2a with a m38 body on Craigslist for $2,000. He pounced on it immediately. I'm not sure how I missed it during my searches! Just goes to show I can't find them all.
This is an excellent find, especially since the body is in excellent condition reports James. It's also one of the best California deals I've seen …
Here’s an early CJ-2A with the column shift. The seller doesn’t not indicate whether it runs or not, but it looks whole — it looks like it might run. Obviously, the hood and windshield are a bit rough.

This is a fine looking CJ-2A sporting a M-38 body. The rims are interesting.

This is one of the most rusted flat fenders I think I've ever seen. Next, I noticed the rear PTO water pump, which was cool. Then I noticed the solid back — no tailgate, yet the body doesn't look like a MB/GPW. It's hard for me to believe that this jeep rusted so much while in storage.

I think this is the first jeep I've posted from Alabama. Either that's a brand new body or someone has taken very good care of that jeep.

This is a sharp looking jeep. I would guess the reserve is pretty high on this one.
"For Sale: 1947 Willys Jeep 4×4. Spent most of its life in California. Absolutely NO rust. The paint is not perfect and has some chips. It has a GM V-6 with roller rockers, aluminum high rise intake with 4 barrel carb, headers, spark arrester header mufflers, electronic ignition, high performance clutch with T-10 4 speed, big face tac, true-loc axles, 3 inch lift, aluminum wheels with 33 inch mud tires, 2 fuel tanks. Grant steering wheel (also have original big Willys steering wheel and side mirrors), Bimini and full convertable top with canvas doors. The motor has less than 5000 miles on it and is either built by Kenne Bell or has Kenne Bell parts (this information was provided by previous owner)…. Call Dave at (419)303-4918."
It looks like the steps have been modified. Probably should do a close rust check of that area.

A reader named David has shared an old picture of his parents racing around the sand dunes in what looks to be a CJ-2A. We do have a few other little parts in a box that we didn’t want to walk off in the wrong hands. Overall this truck has a whole lot of potential.
