UPDATE: The original NelleBelle sold for $116,000 at Christie’s in the summer of 2010, which is much higher than the $20k-30k it was estimated it would bring.
Jim forwarded this for our viewing pleasure. So if I understand this correctly, this is a replica of Nellybelle, but wasn’t actually in the show? You can learn much more about NellyBelle and Roy Rogers and the CJ-3B Page.
‘This is the 1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep named NELLYBELLE II, and made to replicate the jeep NELLYBELLE from the ROY ROGERS TV show from the 1950’s. It has been on display at the Roy Rogers/Dale Evans Museum in Branson,Mo. This is a piece of History of the 50’s Hollywood television history. It’s in excellent condition as it was at the museum as it has been garaged since we bought it. It starts fine but will smoke some,tires are a little dry.Has new brakes and drums, a new fuel pump. Beautiful piece of memorabilia to expose at parades,auto show,etc..”

This looks like a beautifully restored CJ-2A. The MC engine indicates this (the head or engine) was originally out of a M-38.
“Thanks for viewing my auction, I am selling with NO RESERVE, my 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A. This Jeep was restored 7 years ago. Every nut and bolt was removed. All components on this Jeep have been disassembled, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished and or replaced. It is painted in the original Willys colors of Normandy Blue with Sunset Red wheels with black stripe. The vehicle was done by Professional automotive technicians who specialize in Willys restorations. The cost to correctly restore a CJ2A would exceed 25,000.00. My starting bid is 11,995.00
There are no modifications that have been made to this Jeep, There are some places where there were stainless nuts and bolt were used instead of steel. The body is a replacement steel body, It does include the PTO with hard to find safety guard and Monarch governor. The governor to carburator rod has been removed , but is included with the Jeep, along with the original top bows however no canvas is included.
The paint is PPG base clear also included is the left over paint for touch if required.
This jeep starts, runs and drives like a new 1947 CJ2A, It has only 500 miles since this complete restoration, you are welcome to come and see it, no disappointments here. The engine number (behind the water pump) is MC75860.

“1946 Willys CJ2A in original almost rustfree condition, there is slight surface rust on the under body and one spot of rust on a hat channel at one of the mounting bolts. The inner windshield has rust around the glass area and probably could be replaced. The body itself has normal farm use dents and dings but nothing serious and would be a easy restoration, the area around the side holes are probably the worst they had a rubber cover bolted to both of them see picture, I have had it about 20 years and enjoyed it as is. Mechanically it runs great and everything works, including the originak key coil switch, has normal leaks at some of the seals. The brake lines wheel cylinders and master cylinder have all been replaced. The seats have powder coated frames and replacement cushions covered with vynil, the rear seat is a reproduction. Original seat pans springs and coverings go with the Willys. Wheels are powder coated with white vynil strpes and almost new non directional tires. I believe the Willys a has about 29,000 miles as it has on the speedometer. The wireharness could stand replacing, horn button doesn’t work but the horn does, windshied glass is a litttle scratched. The Willys comes with a complete all original Monroe three point hitch with a motor mounted hydraulic pump not installed.PTO with rear gear box and farm belt pulley and governor,V belt pulley for generator or welder, belt driven buss saw I believe it’s a Newgren and a peson that has a Newgren saws the brass tag is right. Front bumper weight, complete operational Linkbelt capstan winch with most original parts, rope roller assy is a reproduction and winch drive bracket is fabricated from steel and works well. Also has original owners manual, chaff screen, and complete set of top bows.”

This CJ-2A looks good. The seller reports this has a knock; it might be worth checking the harmonic balancer to see if that’s causing the problem.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A – Clear Title (In my name)
Body in good shape. Recently tub was removed and chassis completely cleaned of all grease and grime. Chassis primed with a Por15 rust pervention paint. Repaired all rust on Tub. Floor pans have been replaced and repaired. Tub has been primed and painted in a Champagne Metallic color. Many new parts: new muffler, gastank, brake lines, carburator and fuel pump rebuilt, all original running gear intact and working. Jeep runs and drives. Transfer case and transmisson works in high range and low range. Only Bad news it that motor has a knock.”

(07/13/2010) Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) once said that the coldest winter he ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco. Well, I lived in Aptos (just south of Santa Cruz, Cali) for several years and I’d argue it’s summers were every bit as cold or colder than SF when that damn fog rolled in, which seemed to be every evening! Fortunately, I only had to drive to the next town (1 mile away) and the fog would disappear …
Anyway, here’s a nice looking CJ-2A that lived somewhere close to where I was (aptos is a pretty tiny town).
“1947 Willy’s jeep original everything, under 8k miles been garaged most of it’s life and really wants to go 4 wheeling. no rust, no dents engine still looks shiny and new. If you have wanted a Willy’s this is your chance to start with the original right down to the military style tires! everything works great, runs great just needs a home with less vehicles so it can be driven. Paid 8k for this awesome truck back a few years ago it has been driven twice since then. I just don’t have the time and too many cars. (10/10/09) There’s nothing I see to indicate this is a M-38 body, accept for the dash panel. But, it’s missing the battery box lid, the jockey box in the dash, drain holes, and a gas inlet at the very least.

“1946 CJ2A. Western vehicle, stored winters, very solid. Has three speed column shift. Comes with both aluminum hard and original soft top. Heater works. Jeep is blue, but original green paint shows in some locations. Third photo shows tool box floor – only surface rust, not rusted through like you find in many. Family owned for many years prior to my purchase. Starts and runs, stops fine. Shifting is a bit tricky and could use adjustment, but otherwise good to go. This was going to be a keeper, but unfortunately I need to sell. I’m pretty firm on price, but will entertain reasonable offers. Serious inquiries only please. “1946 CJ2A Runs good 32″ super swampers 134l head flat head 4 cycliner. Been converted to 12 volt system. Stripped the frame and redid 2 years ago. All new steering and brakes. Didnt make it too pretty to use!!THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THIS ANYMORE!! Possible CJ5 or CJ7 trades.”
This looks to be a good CJ-2A. I don’t think the pics do it justice.
“1948 Willys CJ2A. Mechanically you will not find a better running cj2a in the area. It has been gone over mechanically from top to bottom. Everything as far as the drive train goes is in excellent working order. All parts that have been replaced have been kept and I have a sizeable quantity of new after market parts that will go with the vehicle, to include a spare transmission still in box. I have some body parts and sheet metal to replace any rusted areas on the tub etc.
There is rust on floor boards and in spots on wheel wells but as I said, I have purchased sheet metal parts to replace these areas. I’ll save that step for whoever buys my 2a. My sons and I have a great time driving this vehicle around chapel hill. We had a great “sledding safari” last winter. All mechanicals work smoothly on this jeep. It is a great piece of working history and I would love to send it to a good home. Please call 919-259-8447 if interested. Asking 5000 or best offer.”

“1947 Willys CJ-2A. Rubicon ready. Buick 225 V6. New 100A chrome alternator. Holley 390 carburetor with electric choke. Electric radiator fan. Power steering, Saginaw 3:1 steering box and tilt steering column.
SM420 transmission, new clutch, T-18 transfer case with Saturn overdrive and new drive shafts. Axles both rebuilt with ARB air lockers and 4.86 gears. Front is a Dana 30 with disc brakes. Rear is a Dana 44 with Warn lifetime warranty axle shafts and locking hubs.
35? tires with 90% tread left. 2 inch body lift and 2 ? inch suspension lift. Bikini Top. Large gas tank, 16 gallons. Removal rack. Alpine CDE-9845 stereo with Aux input 4GB iPod mini included. Midland CB with Firestick antenna.”
