Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The drain holes have been plugged, which I suspect means there’s been some work done on the passenger and driver’s side areas of the body.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $2300
This jeep looks like it’s parked in a farm shed. It’s hard to tell whether this is running or not. I can see some rust. It might make a good restoration project.

Bruce surprised me today with some pics of a Fire Jeep. He noted that after reading the section that includes Fire Jeeps, he thought I might be interested in seeing a couple pics of Art’s Jeep. After reviewing the pics, I asked him for permission to publish them. Bruce was kind enough to contact Art, who in turn has been nice enough to let me share them with you. If you haven’t seen Art’s Jeep on the CJ-3B page or at one of the Willy’s reunions, then you are in for a treat.
One of the more interesting factoids I ran across while doing a search for Art’s Jeep on the internet was a discussion on the CJ-2A Page Forum regarding Bill’s effort to include Art’s Jeep in a Calendar of Fire Vehicles. It turns out that Daimler Chrysler wants a piece of any Calendar pie for showing a Jeep Grille (specifically, a $500 guarantee and 12% royalties).
So, that got me thinking. What about Jeeps on pay websites? Could Daimler, for example, begin asking for royalties from a site like the Jeep Forum, which has paying members, on which plenty of images of a Jeep Grille exist? At this point, my opinion is they can’t, because they haven’t enforced their rights (if they even have them) to do so. But, I’m gonna research this more.

This looks sharp. It looks like the dashboard was smoothly modified.
“This is a COMPLETELY restored Willys Jeep from 1946, the first year of the CJ (Civilian Jeep). It has a clean Texas title and is registered as an antique auto. Every part of this jeep has been reconditioned, refurbished or replaced. The original flat-head 4 cylinder engine has been totally rebuilt with new pistons, rings, bearings and seals. The 3-speed transmission and transfer case have both been rebuilt including new bearings. The front and rear axles have been rebuilt with new seals, bearings and shims. The front and rear bumpers are custom built with hitch receivers. All the wiring is new, with six AutoMeter gauges in the dash. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts. This Jeep comes with a new Bestop folding soft top. There are a few more improvements from stock, such as a 12 volt alternator in place of the original 6 volt generator, and new, more comfortable seats and seat belts. “I hate, hate, hate that I have to sell this Jeep. I purchased in the early 2000’s and have 293 recorded man hours into the restoration. I have a full photo album of pictures from the very early stages through completion. However, none are online. I have taken a few pictures of the pictures with my camera phone.

Out of my collection is this very original 1946 CJ-2A Willys with matching civilian 1946 TC-3B Bantam trailer. This Willys is a frame off restoration. It is refinished in the original and correct color of Harvest Green. It has the correct original running gear: 134-L Go Devil engine, T-90 trans and Dana 18 transfer case. This Willys would do well in any show and is turn key ready. Best of all, you can drive it anywhere. The reserve is set MUCH less than comparable vehicles on the market and this INCLUDES the Bantam trailer. Odometer shows 47,290. I don’t know if this is actual or not. The following are all new or professionally rebuilt. Look at the pic’s…”
The auction on this just completed on this very stock jeep. This was a one-family jeep that looks very solid and appears fairly rust free, though the floor boards deserve some inspection based on the floorboard pic. This didn’t last long (less that 24 hours) before someone offered the buy-it-now price of $4500. I’m a little surprised it went so quickly for that much. It does have the original bill of sale (last pic) which is cool.

Original flat head four tornado engine with 1000 miles after rebuild all rebuilt transmision, transfer case, beafed up drive trane, rearend, and everything else. This jeep drives like a mini tank it can literaly drive inself up a tree if your into such things. Geared low for offroading drives 45mph top speed. I bought the last white best top in the world for a willy it is only 6 months old. Bottom of jeep is sealed and there is no rust. This is a show quality ride. Blue books at $13,000 with a total of $12,000 in it. I have afew extra parts and old gas cans ext…I will take fair offers for cash and will consider trades but please no junk.
