This looks like a good project, but is priced high given it doesn’t have an engine.
“Up For Auction-This is a 1951 Willy’s Jeep project car. There is NO motor, as it was recently removed. However it is set up for a small block chevy V-8 (283,305,350,etc.). This Jeep is 95 percent complete was driveable prior to the motor removal.”

(03/25/2010) This looks like a nice CJ.
“1951 Willy’s Jeep CJ3a. I bought this Jeep a few years back from the original owner. They had converted it to a V-8 back in 1971 or so. Chevrolet 283 out of a Chevelle. Runs and looks great. It has been in storage in my barn for 2 years now. I bought new rims and tires for it and haven’t driven it since I put them on. The top was new when I purchased it and it’s in great shape. It needs a good cleaning from being in storage. I do have the owners manual and prior service notes done by the previous owner. It does have power steering as well.”

(08/20/2010) Looks pretty stock. Something’s been added to the front near the grille, but I can’t tell why.
“This classic 1952 Willys jeep has brand new tires, and I had a mechanic do over $8,000.00 worth of work on it. It has a top, and I have the two doors that came with the top that have not yet been installed. I also have other jeep parts I will include with the sale. It is registered and runs.”
This fiberglass body looks in very good shape.
“Here is a 1953 Willys CJ3A. Fiberglass body. Manual trans. No rag top. Clean in and out. Western plow. This Willys is being sold with a bill of sale only. Engine runs very good. “I have a 1950 Willys Jeep CJ3A for sale. This vehicle is partly restored and has a: new clutch, new pressure plate, new t.o. bearing carrier, new t.o. bearing, new complete clutch linkage repacement, resealed transfer case, trans bearings, new second gear, new 2/3 synchros, new 2/3 slider gear replaced, 5 new NDT military tires from Coker Vintage Tire Co., new tailgate, new turn signal switch, both tail light assemblies with replica NACO units, new voltage regulator, new seat covers, new fuel tank, new fuel lines. The body is in reasonable to good condition with minimal defects for its age. (see pics). I’m asking $4000.00 but will consider any reasonalbe offer. I currently have far more invested in this project than the asking price but have a more important project to finish, (home remodel)”

This is a nice looking CJ-3A, but it isn’t all original except for the 12 volt.

Here’s a very rare Willys. If the serial number is correct, it is 1 of 2 known of this model, though it has been ‘re accessorized” into a standard CJ-3A.
My investigation into this topic started tonight after Dan spotted this ad. He said, ‘check out the serial number because I think it is a Tractor Jeep’.
I copied there first part of the serial number (451-GD1) and pasted it into Google and hoped for the best. Seconds later, I had my answer. It turns out, the CJ-3A.com website had all the info I needed. There’s an entire page about both the Jeep Tractor and the Farm Jeep, both ‘farm’ versions of the CJ-3A introduced in 1951 and designed specifically for farms.
The standard CJ-3A serial number beings with 451 GB1, while the Farm Jeep uses 451 GC1 and the Tractor Jeep uses 451 GD1. The ‘Farm Jeep’ was intended both for farm use and general purpose use and the ‘Tractor Jeep’ was designed exclusively for Farm use, eliminating a variety of items, including “front shocks, a spare tire, windshield, tailgate, headlights, fuel-pump booster, speedometer, and horn”
The CJ-3A.com site reports that only 1 451-GD1 has been documented. If everything checks out, this will be the second one found. You can see a close up of the serial number plate here.
So, the next time you check out a CJ-3A, double check that serial number.

This has an unusual approach to creating a dash for a fiberglass body.
“Selling my ’51 cj. It has a 225 v6, original t90 3 speed transmission, spicer 18 transfer case, dana 44 rear axle. The front axle is an upgraded dana 30. Everything works great just had carb and ignition tuned. Body is fiberglass. Asking $6500, but price is negotiable. Will possibly consider trade for toyota fj 60 or other toyota landcruisers”

(09/21/2010) I have never heard of a middle seat for a CJ-3A. I did a search, but couldn’t find anything.
“I have for sale a 1951 Willy’s Overland CJ3A Jeep. It is a 4×4 with Hi-Lo range. The motor is a 289 Mustang Special. The jeep has been restored with original paint color inside and out. Mostly all original outside of the motor. It is equipped with:
Ramsey PTO winch
2 v-belt pulleys on the drive shaft (very rare)
Heater
Wipers
Gauges including a tach – all work
Lights and turn signals
Tow bar
Driver and Passenger seats plus the small seat in between (This is very rare)
New exhaust system
New brakes
Tires are “Vogue Custom Built Tyre” and are steel belted radials clean to the rims.
Canopy top was made for a sunshade
A new Kayline Convertible top – never used
