“Kaiser Willys 1955 CJ5. First year of the civilian CJ5’s, 215 V8 Buick motor with 2bbl carb, new battery this spring, 3 Spd tranny, Overdrive, front tow hitch, 60’s era bucket seats. Except for the motor and overdrive I believe this jeep to be fairly stock. I have some 31-10.50-15 tires on it with fair tread. Standard 9 in brakes so expect what you get for brakes with the 9″ drums and 1955 brakes designs. Runs and drives. Some rust peeking through paint with a split on top just behind hood. Bimini top and full soft top with two sets of doors. Soft top is fair. Keeps the weather out but rear window could be replaced as it is cracked. Asking $1800 cash and will only sell local. Can be used as is or would be a base for a builder if desired. My original desire was to build it up but just ended up using it stock for the past 8 or 9 years. I thought the paint job on this was unusual enough to post. I’ve never seen stripes quite like those.

“1956 Jeep CJ5 Willys 4×4. Completely original Jeep including hard top and hard doors. 4 cylinder 3 speed. 4×4 has High and Low Range. 6 volt system. Brand new battery and battery cables. New condenser, points and distributor cap. Top and doors come off. Perfect Jeep to restore or drive as is. Has very minor rust. Floor pans are not rusted through. Surface rust only. Not sure if roll bar is factory or not. Back seat is not factory. Just in there for extra seating. Tires and wheels are not original. Jeep has spent it’s life in Montana. Very hard to find a Jeep this old in this rare and original condition. Has some history to go with it! Call with questions.”

There’s some value here.  Engine & Tranny rebuilt.

“This is a 1955 CJ5 that was a project of mine. I have restored the chassis to a rolling frame and have yet to assemble the body. Over time I have wanted to finish this project however I have moved away from it and I have most if not more than all of the pieces to complete it. The Enginge and Trans have been completely disassembled and rebuilt. There are new brakes, e-brake, premium warn locking hubs, shocks,rebuilt carb and starter, also the generator has been replaced with a gm one wire alternator, rebuilt radiator, and this list goes on. I have invested over 4 Thousand dollars into this project and now it must go. Feel free to ask any questions as I will answer them as quickly as possible. Thanks.”

“This is a 1961 Willys CJ-5 with some history. Snow was predicted for the 1961 JFK inaugural parade and 2 Jeeps were commissioned to lead the parade and plow if necessary. This is one of the two Willys outfitted with snow plows that led the parade in Philadelphia (plaque on dash). I’m told the paint color was chosen to match Air Force One. After the parade the Jeeps were donated to a Philadelphia school. When they had served their purpose a school employee purchased this Jeep, and we bought it from the next owner who bought it from the school employee. You may have noticed the engine and drive train have been removed; this was the start of a restoration project that never went any further. Items that go with the Willys are: original drive train and engine, extra engine, PTO driven winch, snow plow and all other pertinent items for reassembly.

The dash plaque reads: THIS Jeep VEHICLE WAS AN OFFICIAL UNIT IN THE INAUGURAL PARADE HONORING THE 35TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY JANUARY 20, 1961”

The paint job on this is unusual.  The cammo even extends across the headlights.  But the inside of this looks quite nice.  The jeep may be in good shape.

This sure looks like a good price.  I wonder why is wrong with it . . .  Maybe the price is a misprint?

“Original engine runs very good. Vehicle has been restored. Has newly upholstered front and rear seats, has roll bars, 31 x10 tires, chrome rims (used). Installed radio, interior lights, carpeting, exterior clearance lights all the way around, large tail and brake lights. There is a brand new BESTOP, doors need slight modification to fit. backfill blade mounted with a shoulder mount

1946 Jeep CJ-2a Complete but body rusted. Will need replacement body (still available from Willys in Toledo) Bill of sale only, no title. $1000 obo

1968 Jeep CJ-5 Decent body and good frame. No motor. Comes with factory hardtop and some spares. Clean title. $1000 obo

1971 Jeep CJ-5 Body beat up but frame in great shape. Has Dauntless 226 V6 in it. Runs and moves under its own power. Would be good to pick up along with the 68 to make a complete CJ-5 plus spares. Clean title. $1200 obo

1978 Jeep CJ-7 Body rusty. 304 V8 auto trans. Tilt Steering. Hard top and doors. I installed a new water pump and a new front seal. Runs and moves. Clean title. $1300 obo

1981 Jeep CJ-8 Body rusty. I-6 motor, manual trans. Half hardtop, no doors. Tilt steering. These are getting tough to find these days. Clean title $1500 obo

I also have a clean CJ-7 frame, a couple of wide-track axles and some spare sheet metal available seperately to help out with these projects.

We also have other project vehicles available in other listings. 54 Nash Metropolitan, 69 Buick GS400, 1969 VW Beetle Conv, multiple MGBs and dune buggies.

“I was asking for 4 thousend (what I paid for it without the parts I bought) but give me a fair offer, I even just dropped it to $3,000. I don’t want to sell her but I need the money ASAP! Here’s an unusual CJ-5.

“This is a full caged 72 CJ-5 with a well built AMC 360 . Full frame off re-fabrication hand built 2×4 square tubing frame. Rear quarter elliptic suspension of my own design incorporates a rotating cross-member to keep the drive angle alignment during articulation. It can go through 2′ of drop and maintain drive line angle without binding the ujoints! The rear end is a 9″ narrowed  Ford containing a 4.56 Detroit locker with disk brakes to go along with the GM truck disk brakes on the front, powered by hydrobost, a new GM 1 ton master cylinder  keeping the 5 1/2″ bolt pattern front and rear.  ….

UPDATE:  Jim notes that this CJ-5 is a very rare example of a 462 model CJ-5.  You can see his comment about it below.  I tried to find some pictures online of a closeup of the decal, but couldn’t find any. 

Also, here’s a picture of Johnny Cash from a 1975 Christmas Album.  It looks like it could be the same jeep.
