Dan ran across these interesting service bulletins from the Carter Carburetor Corporation regarding Willys-Overland motors.

1995 Safari-Kar Press Release
Here’s an interesting bit of history for those interested in the Safari Kar. The seller marks this as a released in 1996, but given it is introducing its 1995 line, I think it was printed earlier.
“Original typewritten press release , 8.5 x 11 , UNILLUSTRATED , describes 1975 to 1983 remanufactured US Post Office Jeeps . This was printed in 1996 by Safari Kar .”
1943 Willys Overland Semi-Annual Report on Ebay

Monroe Hydraulic Lift Brochure
This Monroe Lift Brochure arrived while I was on vacation. It’s a great little brochure. The FarmJeep page has information on the Monroe lift, including this Monroe lift parts list.
Also, if you’ve never visited Clint Dixon’s Dodge Power Wagon Monroe Lift page, it’s worth a look. There he has some detailed drawing of the Monroe Lifts. He also has a great photo page that shows a Dodge Power Wagon and the Monroe Lift using different implements.
Plaistow Pictorial Poster **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is framed and under glass.
“The poster is a “Plaistow Pictorial – Fact Sheet Number 17” and appears to be in very good condition. It is encased beneath glass and is mounted in a wood frame. The frame has a few minor blemishes. The poster shows images of various Jeeps from 1940 through 1986. It also depicts the “Anatomy of the War time Jeep” and has a narrative of the history of the Jeep. 1944 Willys Overland Annual Report
Here are a couple pages from the 1944 Willys Overland Annual Report. I thought their inclusion of the Willys engine as an independent product was very interesting. As you can see they really thought there was a big market for it.
It’s just amazing how large the plant was and how little is left.

1944 War Bond with Willys MA
Maury shared this war bond with an image of a Willys MA. He wrote, “These inserts were apparently sent out with US Treasury checks to encourage the recipients to invest the money in war bonds. Scans of the front and back of the original envelope and insert are attached.”

Willys Motors Sales Book Pages on eBay
Here’s a rare set of sales book pages (8 pages) that show different kinds of loaders. Looks interesting.
Blueprints for Back Seat Safety Straps on eBay
Here’s an odd piece of Willys history.
“Original drawing blueprint for a 1956 Willys Motors safety strap. This drawing belonged to my grandfather and has been stored for many years, laid flat. Very good condition. Would look great framed for the Willys fan.
A “B” sized blueprint is the smaller print. A “C” sized blueprint is the large prints you’re used to seeing.

Whitco Soft Top Directions on eBay
Here are some directions for using a Whitco Top. I didn’t know that’s the way they folded down.
2 Pages from the 1944 Willys Overland Annual Report
I’ll provide some more information on the 1944 Willys Overland Annual Report that I’ve scanned, but I don’t have time tonight. Instead, here’s some fun reading from the report. I’ve combined two of the pages into one image. This comes from an anonymous donor kind enough to share this (and other) documents so I can scan and share them with you.
Fire Jeep Tanker Instructions and Specs
Mark found this jewel of a PDF at Roscommonequipment.com. We’ve seen a few of these fire jeeps for sale over the years. This document provides some insights into how the pumps work and the type of modifications that were added. The document contains instructions, specifications and detailed drawings.
You can see the whole PDF here: http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter.com/Project%204_Jeep%20Tanker%20Handbook.pdf
Here’s an example of one jeep that was for sale last year. I thought there was another one, but I can’t find it at the moment.
1944 “Back the Attack” Envelope by Goff **SOLD**
UPDATE: I just picked this one up for $12.95 on eBay tonight. This is part of a series of “Back The Attack” Envelopes with different images. I’m still trying to determine what Goff’s full name was.
During WWII there were 8 different Public War Loan Drives. For the third War Loan Drive, or War Bond Drive, the Treasury department selected the theme “Back the Attack — Buy War Bonds.” The goal of the bond drive was to raise fifteen billion dollars.
This sold on eBay in January 2014 for $50.
1946 Guide Map to Tokyo
Doug found this February 1946 Map of Tokyo at a military show last weekend. He thought the map looked interesting, but the illustrated jeep on the cover really sold it.
Sales Aides from the Product Merchandising Manual
A seller on eBay broke up a Product Merchandising Manual and sold it in pieces. I bought this section (Sales Aides), and several others. Unfortunately, I don’t have the resources to buy all of them (and some of them are overpriced in my opinion).
These three pages demonstrate items used by the sales team to sell Willys Vehicles. One of these aides I’ve never run across is the “Civil Defense Brochure” shown on Page 2 under Selective Marketing Booklets.
Market Research from the Product Merchandising Manual
This Market Research section of the Product Merchandising Manual is very interesting, particularly since it covers Washington State (where I live). Because some of the information is broken down by county, and because varies quite a bit, especially east and west of the Cascade Mountains, it’s likely possible to draw some national conclusions about vehicle ownership percentages, etc.
Container of 1940s Letters on eBay
No jeeps here, but lots of interesting history.
View all the information on eBay
“Interesting Lot of WWII era LETTERS –
some might be considered somewhat rare and/or unusual.
Lot of WWII letters that had belonged to my father-in-law, who served in the Army Air Force from 1943-1946.
He was trained as a photographer, trained at several bases and also stationed at the Stars and Stripes office in Erlangen, Germany.
I believe I counted over 240 letters in this lot.
There could be more than one letter in one envelope I noticed…
The bulk of the letters are from my father-in-law to his girlfriend, who later became his wife. Some are from her to him, a few are to and from their parents, one or two from her siblings to Ed when he was stationed away.
