Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “For Sale: 1957 Willy’s FC 170 Jeep Pickup Truck Chassis.
$1000
This is a complete chassis of an FC (forward control) 170.
It has all the original drive train including the oil bathed air cleaner, generator, and starter.
It has a super hurricane flat head 6-cylinder engine.
It has a T90 3-speed transmission and a T18 transfer case.
It has a Dana 44 front axle, a Dana 50 rear axle.
The motor turns over, and it will probably run.
What is left of the cab is the steering column, original seat frames, and vin plate.”
The photo below appeared in a 1958 article from the Spokesman-Review. The article below comes from a November 29, 1956 article in the Toledo Blade that announced the FC’s introduction.
The Red 1961 FC-170 is priced at $2800. The White FC next to it is $1800. An FC-150 (not shown) might also be for sale.
“1961 forward control (the red one) …too many projects – not enough time… I bought this to restore as the original Green Bay & Western Railroad service jeep that it is .Restoration was started, the rusty metal was removed from the cab and the bed was sandblasted and primed but needs the rust cut out. it runs but has no brakes. Both have clear titles. The white one is all original untouched. might sell for $1800, it also runs and drives needs brake work also. Have an fc 150 (short bed 1/2 ton) for parts. Buddy, my partner (the dog) is 12 years old and not for sale….thanks, Chris….NOTE, the dated pics are of the white jeep.”

“I have the complete original drive train from a 1963 Jeep FC-170 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive truck. Includes the six cylinder hurricane engine, three speed transmission, transfer case with PTO output, front and rear axles. Engine ran 6 months ago. Cab is removed for sheet metal work. Everything is still installed in the frame and will be removed upon selling or sooner. Frame is not included in sale. Serious inquiries only please. These are very rare trucks. “1958 Willys Jeep p/u, model FC150. New brakes,drums,seals. Have new wiring harness, rebuilt lights have all original windows,new windshield gasket. Original seats crappy,good used seats. Ran before I removed the gas tank, tank is very funky. New front hub locks. No miles on brakes or hubs. Non op pink slip. Got it to restore, but beyond my skills.”

These don’t pop up for sale often!
“If you know what this is, you know that they do not come up for sale very often. This is the 4 door military version of the FC170 cab over pickup truck built by Willys and the Kaiser Jeep from 1956 to 1965. They say that around 400 of them were built for the Navy in 1964. This is 1 of the approximately 50 know to still exist. She has a South Carolina windshield registration tag from 1975, but she has been in Michigan for at least 10 years and is now located in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
The Good:
#264 of approximately 400 M-677s ever built. This vehicle is still in very original condition with it’s complete Cerlist 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, supercharged diesel engine, T-90 Transmission, Spicer 18 Transfer Case and full interior. All the glass is there and good, except for a small crack in the Driver’s door main window at the bottom that is barley visible. Interior and floor steel are in very good condition. I have a clear title.

This looks like a nice rig.
” Up for Auction is a 1963 FC-170 wrecker. I’ve decided it was time to let someone else have some fun with this very unique piece of Jeep history. Everything works on the truck. It’s been in the shed for the last 6 years only taken out one or twice during the summer to cruise around a little It runs and drives. This last winter was not good when I opened the shed in the spring I found that the two side windows cracked and something dinged the cab, it will need a tune up as it runs a little rough.”
It doesn’t run, but mightn’t take much to get it going.
“1961 Jeep FC-170 truck. I put this truck up in my tools head some time ago. At that time the four wheel drive,transmission and winch worked well. At that time I had not had it running for some time. I did put a temporary battery in it today and it does turn over. It may be something simple or worse so it is an as is vehicle. I have equipment to load on a trailer. It is an original truck with the original engine. The truck is not a rust bucket and none of the glass is broken. It would make a great rat rod. I have put a very reasonable reserve. ”

“I have a 57 fc150 jeep that runs and drives great but has no brakes the guy that I got it from pushed it onto a trailer with a cat because he thought it was locked up well he broke a hub because it was in 4low so that will need to be replaced and the leaf spring is broken so that will need replaced and the brakes to this truck is pretty rusty to as shown in the pics so you’ll have to redo some sheet metal to in the pics the bed is off of the truck I took it off to get pics of the leaf spring it bolts right back on would make a great 4×4 this is a very rare truck I have been unable to find one anywhere near here please call or text me if you are interested give me an offer because I need to sell asap”
