Cragstan’s Smokey and Sandy Bear in a Jeep **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Features, toys This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

I know Smokey the Bear, but never heard of Sandy the Bear.  This includes a box in poor condition.

“This is a vintage battery operated Cragstan Jeep with Flexible Smokey Bear and Sandy bendy figures in original box. Made in Hong Kong. Model # 2579-1. About 11″ long. Toy is in C9.5+ shape. I put batteries in and it worked well (the gear lever is the on and off switch) but the battery door can barely close due to poor manufacturing tolerances. Box is in C4 shape, pretty torn up as you can see in the pics.”

Nomura Electro Tin Jeep with Search Light and Trailer on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Features, toys This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This includes the box.

“Here’s another amazing item from my huge collection. This is a near mint example of a Japanese tin searchlight jeep with artillary trailer. Made by TN (Nomura) toys, this one has spent it’s life in it’s box and was rarely played with. There are really no issues to report. Paint is like new on both units. Lithograph on soldiers is excellent. There are no scratches anywhere. No rust. No dents, etc. Battery compartment on Jeep is excellent. I put a battery in and the searchlight and rear wheels worked fine. Artillary trailer rotates as it moves. The only issue is one of the two rivets that hold the searchlight onto it’s base has come loose. I’m sure someone could easily fix it as it just needs to be popped back in.We also have the original box with wonderful graphics. There is a hand-written “$2.00″ on the front and one corner is torn and coming loose. The base does have the carboard divider though! It’s incredible to find one in this condition with it’s box intact. Jeep measures about 7-1/2″ long and the trailer measures about 6″ long.”

Wood Radio Flyer ‘Jeep’

• CATEGORIES: Features, toys This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This riding radio flyer with a jeep grille is pretty cool.  If only I had known about this when my kids were small.

“This is a well used vintage wood push car from Radio Flyer. The front looks like a jeep. There are some cracks in the wood as well as stains and fading. The steering and horn works and has a squeaker inside. The car measures 24″ long and 14” wide including the tires. This car is very well used and has some issues but still rolls and steers fine. The largest crack is on the left “drivers” side and measures 6″ long.”

1988 Chrysler Motors Bronze Sculpture **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Artists/Drawings, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This is one of a limited edition of bronze sculptures featuring the jeep at a military checkpoint.  Read this article for more information. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1893&dat=19880717&id=ncFQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=PccMAAAAIBAJ&pg=2512,1973525

“Up for auction is a RARE Limited Edition patinated bronze sculpture manufactured by Don Sommer’s American Arrow Corporation. The bronze “CHECKPOINT” is a limited edition sculpture released by Chrysler Corporation in 1988 of the 1941 military Army JEEP. The bottom reads “SERIES 3 #0722″ made in USA by the American Arrow Corp.  It looks as though it is signed on the top right base but I can’t make out the name.  The base is about 10 x 6.5 inches and the Jeep itself is about 5.5 inches long. The JEEP (MB5 ?) and the soldiers are nicely detailed. This is very heavy, approximately 6 pounds. This sculpture is RARE and is in very good used condition!”

Here’s an oddball item.  This is actually a Go For Digger Dash Tag (manufactured by the Go For Digger Trenching Machine Company) and not a Jeep-a-Trench Tag (by Auburn Machine Works) as claimed by seller.

“Hi! I have for Auction here a Brass Tag off a Willys Jeep. It is 8″ long and 5″ tall. It is in good condition. It was mounted on the dash for a Jeep-A-Trench Attachment. Happy Bidding!”

4×4 Magazine GPW Photo Book and More **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Books, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Was on eBay. **Status Unknown**

“Here is a beautiful book that pays tribute to WW II era GPW military Jeeps, made by Ford Motor Co. The book features one particular jeep, S/No.242581, that has been meticulously restored. It was produced in 1997, as a special gift pack for the 20th anniversary of “4X4 magazine”, a Japanese publication. Only 2000 were published, this is #1129.

The Book is a beautifully made hardcover, with OD green canvas wrapped covers, and brass plate title on the front (similar to the Jeep ID plate). It measures 12″ by 11″ and has 132 pages of text, photos, and tech information. All text is written in English and Japanese. The book has sections with detailed photos of the Engine, Power train, Suspension, Frame, Interior, Tools & accessories. There are sections on Specifications, and Restoration notes. There are also many full page views of the complete vehicle. The photos are all studio quality with white background, printed on thick photo quality pages.

The book is packaged in a fitted wooden box with a hinged lid, The box also has a brass title plate, and a brass copy of the original ID plate from S/No.242581. Included is the cardboard shipping box, a mouse pad, and a package of post cards. Everything is in “as new” condition, the 3 brass plates still have their plastic sheet anti-tarnish covers, the post cards are still sealed, there is no address or writing on the cardboard shipping box.”

Willys Truck at Felix’s Fish Camp in Spanish Fort, Alabama

• CATEGORIES: Features, Last Ride, Willys Trucks This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Bob’s down in Spanish Fort, Alabama, to photograph the Godaddy.com Bowl on Sunday when Kent State battles Arkansas State.  Of all the events at that bowl, I’m thinking the coaches wives got the best gig:  lunch at Wintzell’s Oyster House (a good place to eat if Yelp is to be believed). Uh oh, now I’m hungry.  Anyway, while down there, Bob spotted this poor old truck at Felix’s Fish Camp (another good place to eat).  It appears rooted permanently to the beach.  Of course, he thought of us ….

About the truck Bob says, “I looked under the hood and the truck still had the straight 6. Frame was almost rusted in half and the top was gone on the truck. Pretty cool though!’
