Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here’s an add from the 1947 issue of Time Magazine showing two different jeeps involved with airplanes. There is a reference to National Skyway Freight Corp and the “Flying Tigers”.

David sent this image showing a delivery of DJ-3As. It was printed in “Willys News” in January, 1957. I need to get my hands on some more copies of Willys News.
This is an unusual photo that shows MP jeeps parked in Oberammergau, Germany.
“1948 photo US Military M.P. Willys jeeps in Oberammergau Germany along with other Trucks The Photo has been handled a lot threw out the years but will still look great in a frame.”

With the hot, humid Missouri weather melting him, Craig decided that thinking about jeeping in the Colorado mountains was a perfect diversion. He forwarded some pics and videos so we could join his diversion.

Bruce uncovered this unusual reference to Mexico’s Tourist Patrol Service. I believe this group is also referred to as the Angeles Verdes (Green Angels). According to a 2003 book, the Patrol Service still exists; However, I’ve been fortunate enough not to have had to need it. I tried to find some historical photographs showing jeeps, but didn’t have any luck.

The outside looks a little rough, but the inside looks good. It’s an ex-fire chief jeep.

“This a 1968 Jeep six wheel /Backhoe very rare and super heavy duty
the floors are rusting and will need work the rest of the jeep has its
spots but where it counts under neath it has surface rust but the truck
is amazing and runs great the Backhoe works and digs great the jeep also has
down riggers that lift the back end up of the ground and the front has a Dozzer/
backfill blade mounted with a shoulder mount
The Jeep is located in Biddeford Maine and very close to I95

This looks to be an old FC Fire Jeep. There doesn’t appear to be any fire equipment with it.
“1964 Willys/Kaiser Jeep FC 170 DRW 1 ton truck this is a one in a million find at a fair price. I have too many projects and no time or money to complete them. My loss is your gain! “6′ wide by 11′ long has all hardware intact zippers, fasteners, etc
2 windows, one has small crack in plastic, one of the zippers may need a little adjustment, and the color is a bit faded on the red
probably fits a Willys”
This ad was produced in 1947. Was that big bumper part of a service package of some kind? I’m surprised to see it appear in an ad.

Purchased from local fire department & converted for private fire prevention. Runs good, lights & siren. We are selling for another party. Runs & drives good. Has many upgrades. The Valley Fire Truck Company, based in Bay City, Michigan, converted basic willys truck chassis’ into Fire Trucks. Below is a rare ad from 1957 for their fire trucks.

This might make an interesting project. Someone started stealing parts, so the seller wants this to go to a deserving jeep enthusiast.
