1956 CJ-3B Tulsa, OK eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles

Marc forwarded this Ex TWA ad.

“Rare 1956 Willys Jeep CJ3B. This jeep was originally purchased by Trans World Airlines for service at the Tulsa Municipal Airport. It was moved to the Tulsa International Airport in 1961 where it was in service until 1979. In 1979 the jeep was purchased through a private bid auction, and has been kept by the second owner since. This is a rare all original CJ3B, from the tall hood, to the tail gate, to the original 4 cylinder engine. Original engine is complete, needs rebuilt, and does not run. The drive train is all original, and is a factory 4 wheel drive. The body has some rust, and will need restoration. As seen in the pictures its still in the original paint, although faded, you can still read TWA on the side. The interior is nice, solid floor pans, original seats, and all original gauges. This is a true one of kind rare original CJ3B.”

Museum of Alaska Transportation & Industry

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B, Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles

The Museum of Alaska Transportation & Industry is located in Wasilla, Alaska. It’s a far drive for most people to see the museum, but it does have a rare CJ-3B Fire Jeep. I think that’s as good of a reason to visit Alaska as any other!

Ron alerted me to the museum and shared these photos he took. Note the CJ-7 Mail Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler, which I think looks pretty good. Thanks Ron!

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6,995.

Sounds like it might need a little interior work?

“4 cyl. Hurricane engine, 4×4 standard. Everything works and functions like it should. Has the factory plow hook up and a plow will come with it if desired. Came from PA. Nice solid frame, real nice bed, cab. Fresher paint, not by us. Interior is ok for a 56 year old truck. Drive / use as is or refinish interior and it would be real nice. All the glass is good. No cracks, some minor foging in the rear and side fixed glass. Just a real nice rare fc with the narrow wheel base. 6995.00 Go to for more pictures and info.”

Jeep Station Wagon Ambulances

• CATEGORIES: Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles, Willys Wagons

UPDATE: Note this toy jeep I found at the Snook Museum.

I just ran across this neat little story from According to the story, in 1950 the Army bought 1000 Jeep Station Wagons and outfitted them for testing at Army Hospitals all over the country. The were painted Olive Drab and given government data plates. You can read the entire history and see all the pics here.

The 1951 Wagon below ended up at Camp Atterbury. It was sold in 1954 and then used and parked until it was restored. It sell has the original government data plate.

Amerio Refridgerated Body Option

Amerio Refrigerating Equipment Company was based in Union City, New Jersey. They made a variety of different truck bodies for different vehicles. As the brochure below demonstrates, they also made them for CJ-2As. I’ve yet to come across one that still exists.

As a side note, a New Jersey Company called Delicious Ice Cream is creating a business around restored ice cream trucks. They will bring them to corporate parties, birthday parties, etc.

Fumigator on the back of Flattie

• CATEGORIES: Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles, Magazine • TAGS: .

This short blurb about a fumigator on the back of a jeep was published in the January, 1948, issue of Popular Mechanics and available for free at Google. It doesn’t indicate whether this is a custom unit or an aftermarket fumigator available for the jeep.  I see no indication it is powered by the jeep; it may be self contained.
