UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

This needs work.

“You are bidding on a 1942 Ford GPW Jeep, which my brother and I inherited from our uncle. It has been sitting in a barn for the past 5 to 7 years since the engine was started. The motor will turn over, but I didn’t attempt to try and start. I will try and list everything about the jeep, to the best of my knowledge, and include pictures.

My uncle converted to 12 volt, so will need to be changed back to 6 volt.
Will need to change vacuum operated windshield motor back to manual operated windshield wiper.
Has slight damage to right front fender. ( shown in pictures )
Floor boards under front seats and rear floor boards has rust out areas
Underneath above gas tank has rusted spots. ( shown in pictures )
Windshield glass looks good, but frame rusted at bottom and missing center upright bars that makes it look like two windshields. ( shown in pictures )
Drivers side rear panel behind wheel has rusted out spot and passenger side has some bondo which could have had been some rust at one time this is the only places I saw in exterior body. ( shown in pictures )
Body seems solid except these areas
Frame looks solid
Transmission and transfer case complete
Motor complete
Steering wheel good shape no cracks
Front and back seats original except for material what’s left
Canopy canvas not original , but I think the frame is original
Will need to remove angle from frame at left driver’s rear shackle (shown in pictures) and replace with a support arm that attaches to shackle to be as original.
Have clear title”

Its ready for that around town drive or that WWII Reenactment or that parade. The engine runs perfectly with great oil pressure and no smoke. Four Wheel drive works perfectly. It sure looks like there are some parts worth saving.  This was taken in The Republic of Djibouti, Africa, and posted on Flickr.  After some searching, I discovered these are probably Hotchkiss (see m201 website).

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: *SOLD** Was on eBay

This is a project.

“This is a very early and hard to find version of the WWII Jeep. The first few thousand were made using Willys MB frames with the GPW number stamped into the frame and this is one of those. The frame and data tag number is GPW 4370. The motor number is 9460. As you can see it needs repair to the tub but the tub is straight and I don’t see rust. It has a Ford transmission and transfer case, original Ford marked top bow brackets and bows. Original windshield with early brass latches. I will only run it on Ebay once on a 5 day sale and it will not go cheap but if you are looking for a rare one to do, this is it. Buyer must pickup, bill of sale and title included.”

.(04/11/2012)  Hacked a bit but still some value here.  It even starts and runs.

“NO title just Bill of Sale.
Here is what I think is a 1943 Ford GPW Jeepney from the Philippines. I took this Jeep to a Military show in California and put a sign on her “What did Bubba do here” ?  Lots and lots of guys looked her over and at the end of the day the consensus was that she is a Jeepney, a Filipino Jeep. Seems as the USA left the war they also left behind tons of equipment. They say the Filipino’s use whatever they have to make things work. Frame is GPW with machine gun mount still there.  Body is GPW but has been altered as shown. The little 4 cylinder engine has been removed and a Chevrolet either 265 or 283 was installed.  The engine does have oil filtration on block, so at least 1956. It has no side motor mounts, just fronts, so it could also be 1957. The casting number on the intake manifold (4 barrel) is for either a ’56 or ’57 165 or 283 V-8.  Has 265 exhaust manifolds on it. Has Chevy car bellhousing with an adapter to a Jeep T90 transmission and transfer. Both driveshafts are there. Has cut out hubs on front. Original front and rear axles. The Jeep had been sitting for at least 20 years in California when I bought it. Took some time, but I finally got her running. Besides needing a tuneup after all these years she does sound pretty good through her dual exhaust. Needs 12 volt battery also. Has Chevy generator that does charge.  I think she has 11 inch brakes on her? CJ wheels with mud grips. Steering box needs replacing as sometimes the steering wheel will spin round and round without turning front wheels.  This would be a great and different project for someone. Storage is not a problem and will work with you or your hauler on getting her loaded. What you see in the pictures is what you get..”

It’s not stock, but looks like a nice little rig.

” I am moving and need to down size my toys–I did a total frame off rebuild of this Jeep in 2004- Brakes, wheel bearings, all seals front and rear, new brake lines, new wheel bearings..everything was put back just like new-It has a 1985 Chevy 4.3 V6 with a 4 barrel carb- It has LOTS of power- The engine does smoke a little when you first start it up,but after it warms up its okay- Does not use any oil- Slips out of second gear on deacceleration(which is a common problem) I did not catch it when I rebuilt it,because it was not running when I got it– Paint is a little faded – No rust- good brakes- gauges all work- seats are good-still retains all of the Military hardware- Good top- Lots of fun to drive- 5 brand new Military NDT 7.00X16 Tires- Has a heater-What else can I say this is a one time deal you want find another one like it- It was titled as a 1947 Willys when I bought, but is is a 1942 Ford GPW- I have a clear Texas title- Give me a call @ 325-665-3495 for more info.”
