UPDATE:  Price dropped to $5500.

(06/15/2010) This jeep has seen a few updates.

“1942 Willys off-road jeep. It was converted 3 yrs ago to a Chevy 4.3L V-6, Ford T-18 transmission with sought after 6.32-1 granny gear and Dana 18 transfer case. Axles are a 3/4 ton Dana 44 front with detroit locker and a Dana 60 rear. They have both been completely rebuilt and narrowed with Moser axles and bearings, Heavy duty Tom Woods drive shafts front and rear with a CV style u-joint on rear. This is one of few Willys Jeeps that have been converted to coil spring with front and rear triangulated suspension. It has a awesome, smoothe off road ride with incredible articulation with no bindage. It has dual exhaust, edelbrock carb, power steering, 33” Thornbirds, hydraulic clutch, and a large marine battery. Has a massive 200 amp alternator to run 1000 watts of lights and a Warn 9000 winch with a removable cradle to plug in front and rear. The entire drive line since new only has a couple thousand miles on it and has never been street legal or taken to the beach. This Jeep has only been used in the Winter on a 200 acre deer lease for the past few years and stored inside during the summer. I’m no longer paying the high prices for deer leases and decided to sell my Willy and buy a street legal CJ7. Im firm on the 7000 and if it doesn’t sell, I’ll just convert it to street legal. (08/09/2010) Neither Brett nor I can figure out what those handles on the hood do.  This looks very restorable.

“I am selling my 1943 Ford GPW Jeep. Body data plate and frame data plate match. Jeep runs. Has the typical hat channel rust. Many original parts, grab handles, footman loops, and other brackets still attached. If you are the type of person that likes to work on a untouched original vehicle, this is for you. Year GPW? Watsonville, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, GPW (Ford MB), MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD* Was $6500.

I’m not sure what we have.  It’s got a GPW Frame, a Willys Body, a CJ-2A windshield and gearing.   This will need the clutch replaced.

“Looks great, runs fine, but needs a new clutch. Willys body, Ford frame, Good tires, breaks, etc. I bought this Jeep for $7K earlier in the year thinking it would be perfect for use on our ranch, but not realizing the Jeep is geared extremely low and realistically only gets up to about 30mph. The ranch is out behind Mount Hamilton and it would take us far too long to drive this little Jeep out there, so I kept it as a collectible “fun” vehicle. We were out joy riding (it’s a fun old ride) and the clutch gave out. Had to tow it back home, now it’s been sitting for a couple of months (we start her up once a month). Make me an offer, times are tough and we need the cash.”

The engine is GPA,(military amphibious), and runs good. It has the original back seat but the front seats have been replaced. It also has a canvas top and a winch (made from WWII airplane parts).”

UPDATE:  This appears SOLD, but was listed at $800.

I could be wrong, but the slopes and cut of the passenger and driver’s sides look very similar to a Willys MA, thought maybe a Ford GP as well?.  This has been hacked up a bit, but it’s worth a look.  Check out what appears to be an emergency brake as well.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $600

(08/07/2010) Brett found this project.  This jeep has seen some action (though not sure if the war or the owners caused more damage).

RARE FIND!!! This is a 1943 FORD GPW Jeep. Serial #110254. It is missing the hood, grill, gas tank, and glass out of the windshield frame – otherwise complete. Worth a great deal more and a lot if restored. Body damage is minimal – normal for the age. It has a Willys Flathead motor. Motor turns over with a wrench – have never tried to get it fully running. Bought it as a set with a 2nd Ford jeep that I am using and so don’t need this one. Call for more info. Asking $600 OBO.”

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $5995.

Maybe it is the white on the rims, but something looks odd about them to me .. I can’t quite place it.

“Hello, We are selling our 1942 GPW Jeep with much regret. We were hopping to restore this wonderful jeep, but as we all know, the economy stinks so we selling this great creature. The serial # is 78169 and was build in Nov 11, 1942 and the hood # looks like # 20186593.
Thinks that I know about the Jeep;
It has 5 Combat Rims
4 NTD Tires and 1 other type, (maybe off road on a combat rim. It is on the back of the jeep in photos.
2 gas tanks for under the seat. one with a side spout and one that is filled by under the drivers seat.
Gauges look orginal, milage gage got painted by someone other than me
2 ID plates are there. 1 data plate missing
Some rust in the tool box bottom, but not bad.
looks like wrong radiator and carburetor
Looks like orginal Head marked GPW
Block is got the look of the orginal blue but not the matching block # as Serial #.
Engine turns over and looks like good compression
Has a what I believe is a T-90 transmission
Steel seats are “F” marked
Winshield is cracked
Missing horn and air filter
Has new “F” marked canopy frame”

1941 MB Slatgrille Bremerton, Wa Price?

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Dexter confirms that the seller is correct; it is a slatgrille.  However, it isn’t a GPW and it has the wrong grille.  That threw me off.  Dexter says the G503 site discussed this.

“I have a 1941 Ford GPW ( Ford made Willys MB). It has a lot of Slat Grill parts left on it and I verified this through G503.com a few years back. This Jeep is a little bit beyond my knowledge and experience for restoration but no doubt saveable. It has typical floor rust and will need a new pan. Its solid enough to stand on though. Has a CJ engine that ran and drove before I started tearing it down and it still cranks if you hook up a battery.  The rear end grenaded before I got it but it is Ford stamped. I’m slowly working on restoring it to a condition of one used in the field and will continue to but I don ‘t think I can do it justice. Its a Slat grill and should be restored by someone with more experience. Its got some typical “bubba” mods and additions but Ive already removed most of the hard stuff.”
