1951 CJ-3A Oceanside, Ca eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, GPW (Ford MB), MB

The seller states $12000 was spent on the restoration of this CJ-3A and that it will now go easily down Cali highways at 80mph. My response would be, for starters, how does the hood stay down at 80mph, because there is only a hood latch on the passenger side fender (none on driver side) and no latch receptacles on the hood.  There's no mention of the MB body on this CJ-3A. The rear lights are missing on the driver's side.  Rather than a CJ-3A, the grille appears to be a slat grille in the front (probably the most valuable part of this jeep).  Caveat Emptor.

"4 wheel disk brakes, rancho suspension, 10,000 lb warn winch, power steering, power brakes, newer Ford 250 6 cylinder motor, new tires, new wheels, ground up restoration, new interior.  This old jeep has been lovingly professionally restored to better than new condition.  I had power disk brakes, power steering, Ford 250 motor, and rancho suspension added recently.  I also had the interior completely redone for $2200 with commercial grade heavy duty vinyl and super heavy duty rubber on the floors.  I also had the jeep painted with a $5500 base coat clear coat paint job which looks fantastic.  There's over $12,000 in restoration and now I've decided to sell it…."

1942 GPW Susanville, Ca $2400

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB)

Update:  Price dropped slightly to $2400

I suspect the body on this jeep isn't worth restoring, but it still a running gpw for a reasonable price.

"Must sell, I have a 1942 willys jeep with 16,000 miles on it. I cant confirm the milage as it has a new speedomiter that I havent hooked up, have cable havent done it. It is a 1942 GPW, with the original Go-Devil engine, does not use oil and runs great. New tires, brakes are good (for this old of a jeep), it is an original flat fender the tub has been glassed. The body is very straight and the last paint job it got is marginal. I do not have the time or money to restor it as I had planned. I have driven it around locally since I bought it a year and a half ago and never had any problems at all. I really hate to sell this jeep but have to, my loss is your gain. You may call me at 530-569-0524, I will consider a trade for a jeep Cherokee in good condition."

Willys Woodies

• CATEGORIES: Features, GPW (Ford MB), MB, Website, Willys Wagons

I wandered across this website in 2008 that showcases old woodies.  There’s a jeep section with a variety of woodies. The woodie at the bottom is made from an old MB/GPW.

“A French coachbuilder’s modification of the American Jeep into a wood-bodied fire fighting squad truck is similar to the work of Duriez.”

My question is, are the paint spots highlighting bullet holes?  Looks like there has been some changes in the rear related to the suspension (frame over axle perhaps).

1942 GPW Tucson, AZ $700

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB)

Given the slat grille, maybe this is a mix of parts? Gotta love the windshield.

“For sale 1942 ford jeep body in bad condition no title has original engine trans and differentials. It ran and drove about 15 years ago and has been sitting every since. It is a project but it is somewhat rare since it was built by ford in 1942 when jeep could not keep up with its military contract and the contract was split up to fulfill the military needs. The windshield was put on it by my father it was from a vw bug it does not belong on it . the price is $700.00 obo if interested please call five 20- four 19- 498zero thank you.”

4-wheel-steers

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB)

Here’s the most complete information on 4 Wheel Steering that I could find. I found it at JeepStation.com (http://jeepstation.com/main/?q=node/18). Looks like Ford built 100, Willys 50 and Bantam 50. If anyone knows more, please add info. This is likely a GPW-4WS.

BRC-40-4WS: American Bantam Jeep, 4 Wheel Steering – 50 built. (62 according to this site)
MA-4WS: Willys Military model A with 4 Wheel Steering – 50 built.
GP-4WS: Ford First model Military with 4 Wheel Steering – 50 built.
GPW-4WS: Ford Military 80″ wheelbase, Willys design with 4 Wheel Steering – 50 built.

Year? Hotchkiss? Santa Fe, NM **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB), MB • TAGS: .

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.

“This vehicle needs a ground up going over. After some research it appears that this Jeep went through the French Army rebuilding program first in the early 1950’s then again in 1962. This is a Willy’s. It belonged to my father and sat in a barn back East for 20 years. The engine is seized because of rust. It is complete with all parts. It has the oversize generator and battery box between the seats for powering radios. The body has some bondo under it’s last military paint but has no rust through and is solid. Hotchkiss.”

1942 GPW Chico, CA CalBid

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB)

Bill spotted this customized GPW. That rear bumper looks pretty hardy! Is that a spare gas tank or water tank in the engine compartment? How about the three “bucket” seats up front. Looks to have an inline flathead 6 of some type. Auction is at $950 and it ends today.
