Jeep Collection for sale out of Colorado
UPDATE: This was $85,000 for the whole collection. I have found some related craigslist ads. See them below.
I’ve found a couple references to the sale of this collection. Anyone know more? Based on the pic to the right, these don’t appear in great condition. My guess is that this is over priced.
Here is a link to another reference at Hemmings, where I found the pic to the right.
Here’s a link to Hemmings that reads “WILLYS: elderly WW II veteran has vintage Jeep collection, 40s-60s, both military and civilian, must sell, best offer.”
======================
CRAIGSLIST ADS RELATED TO ABOVE:
1946 CJ-2A $4995
This one looks perfectly find. The price doesn’t seem that outrageous.
“1946 Willys C-J2A spruce green all original condition, partially restored with new canvas removable top – runs and drives – $4,995”
1948 CJ-2A $11,500
This one doesn’t look like it is in great condition. There’s no reason to think it is worth $11,500.
“1948 Willys C-J2A signal red fully restored and in great condition – $11,500– Firm”
1943 MB Wenatchee, Wa $5200
The paint job on this is pretty unusual. It looks like a tile mosaic. The top is in poor condition.
“Body, running equipment, and engine all excellent. Interior and top need work. Has a tow bar to pull it with and you will need a light bar for rear if going very far. If you want to drive it away bring top post battery.”
1945 GPW Lake County, CA **SOLD**
It sounds like this is a bit of a project. Includes a trailer.

Year? GPW/MB Bethany, OK **SOLD**
I’m not sure what is funkier, the roll bar or the paint job. However, I don’t think the price is too bad given it runs.

1946 GPW San Juan Batista, Ca eBay
This GPW body looks like it’s in pretty good shape.
“This is a 1946 Ford Military Jeep Willys CJ. It does have the engine, but it is not running at this time. My husband has owned this jeep for quite a while, and was planning on restoring it someday, but we have just not had the time or the money for this project. He did have it running at one time, but it has been sitting for quite a while. It is pretty much complete, and would make an excellent project for someone who had the time. I will be happy to answer any questions that I can.
This is going to be local pick up only, or if you would like to arrange your own pick up and delivery, we will be happy to work with the company that you choose to facilitate that.”
Builds — 1945 GPW spotted by Jalopnik.com
I was playing around with a new internet toy called cooliris (I was using a plug-in version for the Firefox browser) and came across this 1945 GPW spotted and photographed in Alameda, California by Jalopnik.com.
I scratched my head and stared at the hood. Do I like the diamond plating on top or not … hmmm .. I figure it’s there for a reason, as the top of the hood is likely trashed. After scratching my head at it a bit, I decided I liked it, not because it’s a work of art, but because it’s entirely practical. With a strong roll cage, a winch, and other improvements, this 4×4 looks ready for a jeeping adventure.
1942 GPW/MB Spokane, Wa $7000
I’m really not sure if this is a GPW or an MB. The writing left me confused. It looks nice. I think extending that bottom indent across the bottom of the body is an unusual feature (no doubt, part of a body fix). It appears well put together.

Year? GPW Pipe Creek, Tx **SOLD**
This GPW is beat up, but it does have some Ford script on it.
“this is a rare ford gpw like the willys jeeps. it is an early 1940’s vehicle. vehicle ran up until about 6 months ago but the trans started to have some problems and it was parked. motor is good and rest of drive system is good. tub of body is in poor shape. front half is good but back is very bad. this vehicle also has a wench that works off the transfer case to the front. wench is a ramsey. vehicle has military style rims on it also. it is hard to come by these old ford jeeps. this jeep also has the plates on the glove box that relate to the old ford jeeps.”
1942 GPW Bloomington, Mn eBay
Here’s a good looking GPW with plenty of Ford script parts. It’s not all original as the author notes within the ad.
” …. Now I’m not a wrench turner, but this jeep runs great , I have owned it for about 3 years and have only put in a battery and changed the fuel filter. I have had no other problem with it besides the normal spotting of oil underneath it. Starts right up with choke pulled out and a tap of gas, no knocks or ticks or weird noises or smoke or any other engine problems- runs great. I drove it about 4 times last summer and had no problems, i use non-oxygenated gas. everywhere i have stopped people stared in awww at it, and the old Vets love it! ….”
Locating the F script on your GPW
So, you think you have a GPW, but you have no idea where to find that F script?
You are in luck! Ren Bernier has posted numerous images of how the F-script appears across all kinds of parts. This is the first that I have run across a collection of F-script images so extensive. It’s a great resource to bookmark. He also has a variety of images from MB restorations as well.
1942 GPW Dallas, TX **SOLD**

“jeep has new steel floors, no motor or radaitor, body is good. lost interest in this project. make offer”
1946 CJ-2A (mb?) Avenal, Ca $3000
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3000
With the driver side indents and the lack of tailgate, this certainly looks like an MB/GPW to me. Note the phone number is missing a digit.
“nice jeep …runs ok…have done some basic work on it…used it for deer season last year and now we are moving….got to much stuff has original straight 4 cylinder ….has 4 new bi-directional military tires, new battery, new plugs, cap, rotor and points new coil and 12 volt head lights….12 volt conversion with altenator… call 559-816-960.”
1942 MB/GPW La Center, Wa $1800
UPDATE: The price has dropped to $1800. This appears to be a very good price on an MB.
“Willys Jeep needs a new home. Has a brand new battery. Please call 360 263-3259 or 360 951-3409 after 5 PM..”
1941? MB Bayless, Mo $4000
Ok, so 80% restored doesn’t classify as almost finished. It’s a bit pricey for what appears to be a hefty project still. The body appears in pretty decent shape though.
“Here is your chance to own an ORIGINAL 1941 Willys, 80% complete!! It has primer on it and is ready to be painted, NO RUST!! NO BODY PUTTY, all original parts except for the wheels. 1942 GPW & 1946 CJ-2A Cherokee, NC eBay
Here’s an interesting pile of parts out of Cherokee, NC.
“A great project for you flat fender Jeep fans. This is a 1942 Ford built GPW Jeep basket case with many many parts. There are basically two Jeeps here, the ’42 is a genuine WWII era model complete with the built in ammo storage cans in the back, the flip up headlights and the Browning machine gun mounting plate built into the frame. The other is a 1946 civilian jeep. These represent 10+ years of accumulating the parts and pieces to build a WWII jeep that I never got around to doing. ”
1942 GPW Reedsport, Or **STATUS UNKNOWN**
I’m not sure if there are any ’42 parts left on this jeep.
“1942 ford , very strong 327 chevy , th400 transmission with 2800 stall converter and shift kit , pro stick shifter , dana 20 transfer case , dana 44 rear end with track lock posi , dana 30 front end welded , 35 inch tires , power steering with tilt wheel , power drum brakes , full roll cage , nice seats , no rust but there is bondo in the hood and front fenders , aluminum hard top , also have a good windshield frame for a soft top , not a real pretty jeep but it has alot of character and is alot of fun, runs and drives great and will go just about anywhere you have the guts to point it. $4000.00”

1942 MB/GPW Scotts Valley, Ca $4300
Interestingly, the body appears to be a MB/GPW, but the driver side cutouts are missing. So, I suspect there’s been some body work done at some point.
