(12/27/2016) “Here’s a Jeepster that is begging to be finished ! Before moving from Iowa to Missouri, I had removed the body (tub) and totally restored the chassis. Upgraded the engine to a 4.3L short block from a ’92 Chev pickup ( has TBI ), rebuilt 700r4trans, rebuilt DANA 44rear axle with new brakes, rebuilt DANA 30 front axle with new brakes, rebuilt power steering, all new springs& bushings, new custom driveshafts, new wheels & tires. Saved all the wiring from the Chevy, so all can be used including the Chevy instrument panel. New plastic gas tank. Have good body from Colorado with xtra doors, perfect tailgate, new chromed bumpers, new bumper guards , and many other extras. This body has had the underside already cleaned, repaired, primed and painted. The expensive part is done, as I have over $15,000 invested in the project . Finishing the body is all this Jeepster needs, but I am no longer set up to do this work anymore. My loss – your gain. Call& we’ll talk. All engine accessories are new : Alternator, A/C compressor, water pump, power steering pump , all belts, hoses, etc. Engine was test run in May, fluids filled, all checked OK. It’s now packed and ready to winch onto your trailer.”

“For sales is a nice 1948 Jeepster. We searched a long time before finding this car outside of Philadelphia and bring it up to MA. It’s a great driver with the 3 speed on the column and overdrive.
A very nice older body off restoration. Runs well. Good mechanically, paint good, chrome is excellent. Engine was rebuilt at time of restoration. This is a good driver ready for family fun or is a good start for someone who wants to turn it into a show car.

“I purchased our Jeepster in 2010 from a gentleman that bought it to restore. He was going to change out the engine, transmission, etc. and fortunately we were able to buy the car from him in its original condition. The Jeepster was green when we bought it and in need of complete restoration. We started the restoration in 2013 and it was completed in 2015.
We did as close to a frame off restoration as you can do without removing the body from the frame. The car runs well and is a real head turner.
I bought and restored this car for my wife. She’s uncomfortable driving it so I would consider trading it. If you’re interested in a trade, please, 1st send me email pics and details of your car, truck or travel trailer. We can save each other a lot of time.”

“1971 Jeepster Commando 83k, Buick V6, 4 speed manual, 4wd with hi-low and lockout hubs, runs, drives, stops. Not perfect, but in really good shape, drives like an old Jeep should. Larger than the old CJ’s so it’s definitely more stable. Includes white hard top, Kayline (black) soft top, hell creek suspension, 31″ tires, with brand new spare not even mounted yet, Mickey Thompson wheels, front disc brakes, new rear brakes, (shoes, drums and wheel cylinders), spare tire carrier (included but not mounted). Black hi-back seats in front with folding seat in rear. New Battery, Alternator, Voltage Regulator, transmission mount. Not exactly a rare thing but definitely uncommon, always draws interest whenever I drive it. Currently tagged as an antique so it does not require inspection, costs less than $200 a year to insure.

Overall it is is very good shape for what it is; a 40 y/o utility vehicle; I drive it approximately once a week w/o issue. It’s not a daily driver, and not really appropriate for highway travel. It will do 60mph, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea…
As far as I know I am the fourth owner, it was originally from Chicago, I bought it in NJ a little over 2 years ago where it spent the last few years living in a shed. It does have some rust, especially in the rear cargo area. The frame has surface rust, but no rot, wire brush it, navel jelly it and coat with your favorite rust inhibitor.
The engine is an odd-fire V6, it’s very dirty, but pulls strong, starts easily. I have installed a battery disconnect for when it’s just sitting.
The windshield has a gouge on the passenger side where it looks like somebody ran the wipers with no rubber on them, it’s ugly but still works. The wiper blades are new along with the rubber along the door windows. The windshield washer system is incomplete and non functioning. The pump motor is buried up under the dash but it is not wired in and the washer fluid reservoir bag is old but still in the engine compartment.
It is being offered as is no warranty, if the ad is still up then it’s still available.”

Motor completely rebuilt, new clutch and pressure plate, new gas tank and sending unit, rebuilt carburetor, brakes, wipers converted to electric, new battery, newer top, new tires and all lines have been replaced. Car runs and drives, very reliable. Floors and trunk is rust free and no visible rust on exterior. Paint is from the late 1960’s and has some scratches but presents very nice. “Reluctantly I am selling my Jeepster… this is a rare opportunity to own a very rare car and even better one that needs nothing, just turn the key and go! This car is a blast to drive and a real “attention getter” too. Best of it you can’t even see… the entire drivetrain has been upgraded with a 327 V8 (from a 66′ Corvette) and a Turbo 350 Automatic transmission going to a 85′ Mustang rear. It also has Power Steering so drivability is nothing like you may expect from a vehicle this old. It rides and steers smooth around town or at highway speeds. Everything is is in excellent mechanical condition and obviously it’s always been garage kept so it’s cosmetically in great shape too (No Rust anywhere)
Only reason I am selling is that I’ve bought a 70′ Bronco to restore and need the $ and garage space. The price ($15,000) isn’t negoitable, it is worth a good bit more than that.
The vehicle has been closely inspected recently to ensure safety and everything looks great, nothing to replace in the suspension or steering and no cracks or anything in the frame. I bought a braking system upgrade from Kaiser Willy’s (see photo) and planned to install when the current brakes need to be replaced. This will be yours and conveys with the vehicle.”
