“Take a look at this completely rebuilt beautiful 1951 Willys M38 Army Jeep. Serial # MC33376
This jeep was rescued from a gentleman in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2012. It underwent a frame off rebuild. I’ve owned over thirty jeeps and have rebuilt/restored approx. 22 of them and have sold them successfully on e-Bay. This Jeep had been used heavily during it’s active life and was in desperate need of rebuild. (I’ve included two before pictures towards the bottom of the listing) The frame and drive train were complete but needed some repair work. The engine is a correct MC engine made by Willys of France in excellent shape – it runs great and is very powerful. I had to replace the tub with a reproduction tub, but most of the other components are original Willys. (i.e. fenders, hood, grill, windshield, seat frames). The jeep has its military components de-commissioned – i.e. water fording gear removed, and 24 volt converted to 12 volts, civilian WO carburetor .
Everything has been gone through on this jeep and everything has been sand blasted, cleaned, repainted, or replaced with new, NOS, or repro parts.
Chassis and Drive Train: four new leaf springs , new shackles, new shocks, new axle bumpers, frame stripped/blasted and painted, some components repaired (used some similar CJ3A parts) new front bumper, new u-joints, new clutch and bearing, new seals and bearings on tranny and transfer case which were drained and cleaned repainted, and all fluids and gaskets replaced, new e-brake pads, hardware, and cable, new engine/tranny mounts, new brakes including all lines and hoses, new master cylinder, four new wheel cylinders. New steering wheel, new rear bumperettes, authentic pintle hook. Five vintage 7.00×16 NDCC tires (they are older but in great shape)on blasted and painted 16” original rims.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.
Looks solid.
“1952 willys jeep for sale. Rebuilt engine runs and drives great. Also comes with a military trailer. 5000.00 OBO.”
UPDATE: Was listed for $4500. **Status Unknown**
Sounds like some solid updates.
“This is a modified 1952 M38 military jeep. This is very solid and not rusty. It has a 1974 mustang II motor that runs good as well as an automatic transmission and power steering. It has axles from a 1965 CJ5 and will go faster than 45 mph. It needs the metal brake lines replaced on the axles because they are not there from the axle swap. It has the original Dana 18 transfer case and the four wheel drive works. This jeep was built in 1976 and has been sitting ever since in storage. This is not a junky jeep made for the woods to beat up and trash. With a little work this can be a great daily driver. The 1976 white top is still in very good condition. This has a clear TN title.
This doesn’t run and my have a seized engine.

“***Beautifully Restored and Modified*** This ‘attention getter’ is ready to go to a new home. Everything works and is in pristine condition. Rebuilt Buick V6 Engine has about 600 miles. This is a 3 Speed T90 with a hydraulic clutch and Atlas Transfer Case. Jeep has Dana 44’s front and back and has new electrical wiring throughout. Jeep was like this when I bought it except for minor modifications to make it look and run better. It also comes with the complete vinyl top. Not in a hurry to sell, so no low balling and not looking for trades, only serious inquiries. I can answer any other questions you might have. Sorry cash only.”
This looks solid.
“This jeep has been in stored indoors for the better part of 30 years. It had a SBC 327 put in back in the 70s. I recently went thru it and replaced a good portion of parts. All new brakes, wheel cylinders and master cylinder with the drums machined. Had the fuel tank professionally cleaned and coated new fuel pickup, new fuel lines , pump and Holley carb. New seals and gaskets for the whole driveline. Regasketed the engine, new radiator, water pump and hoses. New tires and dodge ram wheels. It has the overdrive unit which allows for highway driving.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000.
“Original, great condition, freshly rebuilt engine. Runs great, drive it cross country.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3195
“1947 Willys CJ2A Jeep for sale. It has a clear Missouri title with matching VIN and frame tags. This jeep runs like a top and also stops on a dime. In very good restorable condition with very little surface rust and no rust thru, or ready for just for 4 wheeling on your place or deer hunting. Great solid, straight body and floorboards. Has a tiger top with doors. Original jeep wheels with decent rubber. All original under hood except has been changed over to 12 volt. All original frame, drive shafts, rear end and tranny. Good seats. Newer gas tank and master cylinder. Has spare tire and modified spare tire holder on back for easier access thru woods and tight spaces”
This looked great on the outside, so I was a bit surprised to see the Ford engine on the inside. I’m sure it’s a fine engine . . . I just wasn’t expecting to see it.
“This is a military M-38 1/4 ton jeep, made in 1951 by Willys for the US Army. The M-38 was produced in the smallest numbers of the flatfender jeeps, and is highly collectible. I have owned this jeep for 16 years and have done almost every necessary repair in that period of time. When I purchased the jeep it came with a Ford 2.3 litre replacement engine instead of the original Willys L-head. I decided to keep that engine as it had better performance. The engine has been rebuilt, the transmission replaced, the front end has been rebuilt, brakes rebuilt, it has been re wired (12 volt), has new wheels, new gauges installed, a complete Beachwood Canvas enclosure with side curtains and doors, the correct military radio (not hooked up) with whip antennae, rifle mount on dash, pioneer tools on the side, and many other things that make this an ideal parade vehicle. Everything works. It is a very dependable daily driver. I keep it in excellent condition. The only repair that should be done is to replace the floor pans, which have some decay. This jeep is made to look original. However, the Ford engine and the ramsey electric winch on the front are not original. If the buyer is interested, I have a spare Willys L-head engine that has not been rebuilt that can go with the jeep.”
