UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.
May need a transfercase rebuild and a new clutch, but I still think this may be a good price.
1952 Canadian military M38 “jeep” built buy Ford of Canada.
A direct copy of the Willy’s American built M38 with a few custom features for the Canadian Government.
The biggest difference was the addition of a Warren front winch and data plates with Imperial units.
Correct British radio set.
This is an older armature restoration.
The Good:
Runs great! Has a Jasper rebuilt engine, Starts right up and is quiet and smooth.
Brakes are in excellent shape. New master cyl and 90% plus brake shoes.
Excellent top and interior, Good Canadian made tires.
Drives and shifts well.
Comes with the correct Canadian built trailer.
The bad:
Clutch slips under a heavy load.
Has a noisy bearing in the transfer case.
Use it as a parade or trailer queen or fix and hit the road!
$8500 No Trades! If its listed its for sale!”

“Willy’s Jeep for sale. Military version. Flat fender. No rust in floor pans. Has a few dents and dings but otherwise body is pretty solid. No motor but does have original transmission. Looks bad because it has been painted a few times and it shows.”

“I have an awesome 1952 military issued M38 Jeep. It has a ton of character and charm for any jeep lover or antique car lover. This Jeep runs too!
Details: this jeep is a mostly original M38 (Korean era) military vehicle. There are some aftermarket type of parts on it, but the majority is stock 1952. It’s a 3-speed manual with 4-wheel drive and a PTO. Also, it has the “Arctic” upgrade (the original arctic hardtop and hard doors). It has the original placards on the dash that match title too (which is pretty uncommon from my understanding). It has been updated to a 12-volt system too. I’ve got a copy of the original military issued Technical Order (manual) that goes with it.
Although this jeep runs, my original goal was to do a 75% restore, but life happens and I know longer have the time or desire to complete the job. I have removed the seats, the gas tank, the arctic top and the majority of bolts holding the front-floor pan to the frame (my plan was to only replace the front portion of the floor pan). All the bolts/etc. can go with (I kept to match sizes at a later date). Therefore, my inability to complete it can be your opportunity to see it through! This is a very unique and uncommon jeep.
Motor: the motor is believed to be a F-134 Hurricane (which replaced the “Go Devil”). Although I have confirmed some of the identifying numbers on the block, I am unable to confirm other identification numbers on the engine (due to age), but it is no doubt of the right era. I have no idea if the odometer is accurate regarding mileage.
I have clean title in hand. It was a barn find in Northern Minnesota (from what I was told) and it came from Minot AFB in North Dakota in the late 50’s or early 60’s. I was informed that I am the third titled owner subsequent to the US Military. Parts of the jeep are still the original olive green drab, but it has been repainted 3 times since (blue, then orange then back to the olive green drab).
I was asking $5,000.00 for this jeep, but will accept $4,500. I’m willing to entertain any reasonable offer, but no low balls at all. Only serious inquires please. No trades, and I do NOT need help selling this vehicle.”
UPDATE: Claus confirmed that this same jeep was on eBay for $20k recently. If you see this posted other places on Craigslist, I’d suggest flatting it.
Craig shared this ad. The too-good-to-be-true price on this beautiful M-38 suggests it is likely a scam. The phone number for the ad is a California one, but it was listed in the Ann Arbor, Michigan, Craigslist. That doesn’t automatically mean it’s a scam (as I still have my Cali phone number), but is just another reason to be suspect.
“Also has new 12 volt batteries. Totally rebuilt engine and transmission”

Interesting windshield setup.
“1952 M38, very original and runs great. Many new parts and ready for full restoration.”
https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/d/1952-m38-willys-army-jeep/6346344205.html
It hasn’t been run in years, but the body is reported to be sound.
“For Sale: authentic numbers matching M38 Military Jeep, un-restored, not rusted out or wrecked, ever. PERFECT for restoration. The sheet metal on this jeep is near flawless.
Clear Texas Blue Title in my name.
Beautiful old jeep, floor boards are pristine original. This is a rust-free jeep, save the RR quarter panel fender support for the spare. It’s rusted at that point about 4 linear inches. This jeep has been under cover for about 21 years. It is amazingly clean.
Perfect restoration project, original numbers matching L134 motor, complete, installed, not running. Missing the gas tank and original mechanical fuel pump, glove box door, and light switch.”

“1950-1953 Willys M38 Jeep rolling chassis with a rough body. Some good parts left on Jeep. It has a CJ2A windshield.
Everything else is military.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1250.
Maybe some parts value here. Engine runs.
“Studebaker flat head six-runs no front axle 4 tires 5 lug 31×10.50R15lt”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6800.
(09/03/2017) This has the body and front clip of an M-38, but it has a PTO bar on the rear, suggesting the frame might be civilian.
“Jeep is tagged as a 1949 Willys based on tub serial #.
Runs great and driveable as is. It is not perfect and has a few minor things here and there but is a great Jeep. It does not have a rear seat or top. It does have a rear PTO winch and the PTO is there intact. 4×4 does work. Brakes work but for their age and technology are relative.
Tires seem ok and I drive on them but you may want to get new ones. 3spd manual transmission. 4cyl motor.”
This could be 99% original.

“Jeep Willy’s mint condition we do not use at all just sits in the barn.We do drive it Occasionally but could probably use a carburetor adjustment other than that it runs beautiful”
A front crossmember has been added. Sometimes that means a different engine has been installed.
