Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1952 Willys M38 Military Jeep project. Korean War era. Appears to have been re-purposed for the Air National Guard. Blue paint and numbers and lettering over the original olive drab. Rusty but fairly straight. Motor appears to be frozen. Has many of the original parts. Number tags. Blackout lights. Clean registration. I was going to sell it once before but then decided to restore it, but have changed my mind again. Could be restored back to Military or done as Air National Guard. It is a pretty cool old Jeep..”

“I’m selling my 1952 M38 flat fender Willy’s Jeep. I started this project a few years back and I haven’t had the time to put into it. The Jeep does not run and most of it has been disassembled. I have new military tires, rebuilt carburetor and many of the small parts have been sand blasted and primed. I have a new front bumper, new driver and passenger seat cushions and a few other new items. I do not actually know the mileage since it appears the odometer was disconnected long before I got it. I can hand turn the engine so I know it is not seized up. Some parts of the body rusted threw, most of the original wiring has been removed. You must be able to haul the vehicle. “What you are looking at is a 1950 Willys M38 (MC) military Jeep. These Jeeps were used during the Korean war era. This Jeep has been motor-pool restored and is in near perfect condition. It has been converted to a 12 volt system for the convenience of finding parts locally. I installed a left hand tail light on the right side to make it easier for other drivers to see for safer driving. Drives great. Original 134L engine runs strong with great oil pressure! Original T-90 transmission shifts like new! Older replacement Body tub. No bondo. All metal. Fuel gauge and e-brake are not operational and could use windshield wiper blades. Four wheel drive works as it should! Tires are Nos mud and snow grips that I found in a warehouse and are in good shape. Clear title. It is a hop in and go piece of U.S. history. All you see on the Jeep goes with the Jeep. I will repair anything that may need replacing for a 6 month period as long as the Jeep and the parts to make the repair are both brought to me to do so.

“Clearing out the yard. Must go!!! Cheap!!! Great Jeep to fix up and take hunting! No worries about scratching it. This military jeep had the wrong engine so we removed it. The transmission and transfercase were tired and also removed. Body is straight. Frame is good but has additional things welded to it. Has a Saginaw Steering Box. Isn’t OEM but it’s like having power steering. So easy to turn! Does not have engine, drive line, and many other bits. I have extra CJ engines and transmissions should you be interested. Take her home and restore this old warhorse to her former glory. At least get her going. No paperwork.”

“1951 M38 Korean War military jeep with arctic military top. Have fenders, hood, grill almost everything for it. Includes set of matching proper military M38 wheels, as seen in picture, leaning against it. $800.
There is an extra M38 motor available for this jeep that is not included in the price of this jeep, but is for sale separately. Will sell arctic top separately if someone is interested for $300. I do not have the rear hatch door to the top. I do have extra hardtop windshields & extra hardtop doors, sold separately.
Mark found this jewel of a PDF at Roscommonequipment.com. We’ve seen a few of these fire jeeps for sale over the years. This document provides some insights into how the pumps work and the type of modifications that were added. The document contains instructions, specifications and detailed drawings.
