Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I found this M-38A1 Installation Instructions Conversion Power Plant Heater Kit 32 page manual on eBay. It seems a well done and detailed look at how to install the heater kit. Hopefully, someone can use the information.

Starters, fuel pumps, generator w/regulator and harness, distributor w/ spark plug wires and plugs, gas heater for inside heat, rear axle housing and parts, headlights, radiator for M151, wiper motor, fuel tank, etc. Contact for complete list of items. All parts usable as far as I know. Items to be sold as one lot, as is. Will consider trade for M100/M416 trailer in good shape.”

“1952 Willys M38A1 4X4
This is a true military Jeep.
It starts, runs, shifts, drives, and stops as it should. It starts easy enough with pre pumping the gas, and using the manual choke. It runs good. I haven’t noticed any problems with the 3 speed manual transmission or transfer case. I don’t think it has brake lights or turn signals. Some original equipment exists like the light switch panel but I don’t think any work. The headlights and taillights function at some level, they do turn on.
Some of the electrical system has been converted to 12v from typical military 48v, battery, alternator, starter, headlights. The oil volt and temp gauges function. Not the fuel tho, my granddad used a paint stir stick on his so… The brakes are typical for non-power front drum setups. They could use an inspection but operate.

The eBay buy-it-now price of $6500 looks like a good price. Could be a USMC jeep.

This one had me scratching my head. First, it lacks a battery box lid on the cowl, so I thought it might be a CJ body, yet it also lacks “Jeep” on the sides, so probably not a CJ-5 body. The rear bumper suggests it is the USMC variant of the M-38A1. I”m guessing the body has been rebuilt.

“I have a 1957 and a 1942 cj2a willys Jeep for sale. Both were running when parked. The 42 has a bent frame that can be fixed or swap the whole thing to another frame. All the body is still solid and fairly straight. The 57 has been sitting up longer. The brakes are locked up and it’s in a little rougher shape. Both have been parked under a tree collecting leaves.”

There are a couple M-38A1s, an M-38A1s chassis, a CJ-2A, and an M-151. Auction is Sept 7th, 2019.
Seller calls this a “Ford”, it might be a Ford-built Canadian M-38A1CDN. The grille is probably from a CJ-5.

I’ve owned this jeep for 2 years , was restored 15 years ago by previous owner, i’ve only driven it a few times to car shows & parades, currently plated & insured. I don’t drive it enough to keep it. It’s a 7 on a scale from 0 to 10.
A lot was done when restored,
new tires (5)
new complete wiring harness
has canvas top on it now but has complete new full canvas included ( top, doors, sides )
military paint with military markings
new drive line parts, tie rods, u-joints, brake lines, radiator
many take off parts that were saved when replaced
new batteries with battery tender & master disconnect switch”
