Brakes have been redone and a new high performance starter has been added. The 1953 Military Jeep has a few unique features including a tilting radiator support and a battery box with 8 thumb screws. A few safety features added including removable roll cage and seat belts. This jeep is mostly original condition and is a very fun vehicle. It was converted to 12 volt system. “Jeep looks and runs great. Has the 134 Hurricane water tight engine. I purchased it three or four years ago from a guy in SC and from what I can tell it has not been striped and rebuilt. Of course parts have been replaced over the years. I have put new front end parts on it such has tie rod ends and ball joints as well as breaks, fuel sending unit, and added the snorkel, tail pipe extension and fording plate and cable. I have the two fording valves but did not put them on as you can’t see them and I would never attempt to put this in the water just due to it age. 

The jeep has all the canvas and can be fully enclosed or open it up and drop the windshield in the summer for a really fun ride. I also have a military winch that will fit on the jeep and run off the PTO however the winch needs to be rebuild and I have never got around to it but will include it if you purchase the jeep. The jeep does have a fully functioning PTO but would need the forward shaft to connect it to the winch. 
I have no idea of the mileage as the speedometer was not working when I purchased it but I was able to fix it.
I drive it around town, especially on the 4th of July and such. People love seeing it. 
Jeep has an IN title.
Asking $7,500 cash, will consider $5,000 cash and some trade items like guns, hunting, or saltwater fishing gear, or even a motorcycle”

“Great 1955 M38A1 – owned it for just over a year and in that time have significantly improved the drivability and reliability of it. It is still 100% original, down to it’s 24volt system. 4 wheel drive will climb you up a tree. Runs and drives well, and feels like a 58yr old Jeep! Would be an ideal beach buggy(didn’t get a permit this year, or it would be!).

Most recent work includes:
Head completely reworked, new coil, new plugs, valves adjusted, etc.

Cosmetically it’s in great shape – especially considering it’s age. No significant rust, some surface rust on the frame – no big deal. I decided to have it repainted from it’s original OD Green to a mil-spec Sand Beige (a 3 stage PPG color). I’d say it’s a level above an amateur job, but certainly a 10 footer. A fantastic color though, one that you don’t see enough for this era of Jeep: hence why I had it repainted. The seats were also redone to factory original. Bimini too included.”

Original data plates, very little rust – passenger side floor board only. Has the flat head Willys go devil engine, T90 transmission, Dana 18 transfer case, Dana 25 front axle and Dana 44 rear axle. Was converted to 12volt system. Clear title in hand. Had tags and registration for awhile and drove it around town, it draws lots of looks. I don’t seem to have the time to take it out much, and hate to let it just sit in the garage. Would love to see someone continue to enjoy and take care of this rare piece of American history.”
