1942 MB Chico, Ca $2250

UPDATE: Price dropped to $2250

This ad includes links to a variety of upclose images.  I think it gives a pretty honest look at the vehicle (wish all ads were this good).

“1942 Willy’s Jeep (flat fender) with Chevy 350 engine, new Borg Warner T150 transmission, Advanced adapter plate to engine/bell housing, transfer case bearings new, new battery & Quadrajet carburator, fuel filter & line. The engine has double hump 2.02″ heads and I was told it was out of a ‘70’s Corvette. The tires have a ton of tread on them and look like they’re very new. The motor turns over easily and idles just like a V8 should. This Jeep is setup well with Saginaw power steering, line locker parking brake and 2 jerry can 5 gallon fuel can holders. Since it’s a Military Jeep, it’s also got the shovel storage on the driver’s side.”

MB Grilles Sequim, Wa Varies

• CATEGORIES: Body Parts, MB

mb_grilles_sequimThis seller thinks he’s got CJ-2A grilles, but they are really MB grilles.  I count 3 grilles, plus a fender and a tailgate.  Check out the ad for specific prices.  These are located way up on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula.

“I have several years worth of Hot Rod, Rat Rod, Mopar, Muscle Car and Jeep parts. Please don’t ask if I have something else if it is not pictured here. This is what I am willing to part with right now. All prices are OBO, but please do not insult me. …”

Builds — 1945 MB Navy/Shore Patrol Resto from Argentina

• CATEGORIES: Builds, International, MB, Website

willys_argentina_logoI’m assuming this is a 1945 MB based on the title of the forum.  I found these pics from a spanish website I stumbled across called Willys Argentina.  I thought they had a pretty cool logo, so I’ve included a copy of that.  There’s plenty more pics and information about Flatties.

Here’s some 1945 MB pics I’ve linked to from the website.  You can see more pics on this forum page.

Jeep42.net Website — Some Great Pics

• CATEGORIES: International, MB, Website

I believe the author of this bilingual (french/spanish) site (jeep42.net) about a 1942 MB is from Europe, though I didn’t get a sense of exactly where they were located.  Neither my French nor my Spanish will save me in an emergency, let alone let me navigate a site about jeeps.

Fortunately, the excellent pictures make the site worth visiting even for the most linguistically challenged of us.  I especially liked the pic below (there are other pics that provide similar comprehensive views of parts).  If anyone knows who operates the site, I’d gladly add their name here so i can properly credit them.

1942 GPW/MB Spokane, Wa $7000

1942_mb_spokaneI’m really not sure if this is a GPW or an MB.  The writing left me confused.  It looks nice.  I think extending that bottom indent across the bottom of the body is an unusual feature (no doubt, part of a body fix). It appears well put together.

Based on the pics from craigslist and eBay, this is an MB body and grille.  I would hazard a guess that the rest of this is an MB as well.

Looks like a fixer upper.  This jeep appears to have gone through some updates, some better than others.  Might be worth a look to see what’s really there.

Builds – Edgar Nave’s “zooped” up MB

edgar_mb_europeYeah, I know, the “zooped” part is a stretch, but the site has some cool WWII pics.  It appears the pages related to Edgar are part of a ‘Nave’ family album.  The part of the story I like is that fact that Edgar drove a jeep as a courier and personnel transport later in the war effort in France. His jeep was fixed up with an aluminum housing and a manifold heater, and he says it could outrun any jeep in the outfit. It was quite popular with officers who wanted transportation. They wouldn’t let the jeep go unless he went with it so he got to take a good many trips.  There’s some interesting pictures of stuff found laying  around France (shot down planes for example).

Now, I’m not sure exactly how those features made the jeep faster, if they did, but it’s a good story 🙂

Here’s the link to the Edgar Nave Pics

1945 MB Bend, OR **SOLD**

1945_mb_bendUPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

“Rare 1945 Military Willys Jeep MB and M416  1/4T trailer built by Cemsco Div of ETS Hokin. The Jeep was built 1-30-1945 and delivered to the Navy, likely for California shore duty. It is very complete, with folding headlamps, blackout lights, hand grips and more. There is no structural or panel rust. The only rust is superficial. Good floors. A light sandblast would clean it all up. No panels need to be replaced. All are intact. No body damage. The vehicle is in original, unrestored condition. The only modifications are at the front bumper for the tow bar. I have had the engine running, and it all seems good. The brake cylinders are frozen…so it would need a full brake job, but after that, I would bet it could be driven as is….a bit of a time warp there.

There are (5) five restored wheels, powdercoated, with new military tires. There is no top or top bows, but all the mounting brackets are intact. There are miscellaneous extras, such as a windshield assembly, a cylinder head, flywheel and more.”

Locating the F script on your GPW

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB), MB, Website

So, you think you have a GPW, but you have no idea where to find that F script?

You are in luck!  Ren Bernier has posted numerous images of how the F-script appears across all kinds of parts.  This is the first that I have run across a collection of F-script images so extensive.  It’s a great resource to bookmark.  He also has a variety of images from MB restorations as well.

1946 CJ-2A (mb?) Avenal, Ca $3000

1946_cj2a_avenalUPDATE:  Price dropped to $3000

With the driver side indents and the lack of tailgate, this certainly looks like an MB/GPW to me.  Note the phone number is missing a digit.

“nice jeep …runs ok…have done some basic work on it…used it for deer season last year and now we are moving….got to much stuff has original straight 4 cylinder ….has 4 new bi-directional military tires, new battery, new plugs, cap, rotor and points new coil and 12 volt head lights….12 volt conversion with altenator… call 559-816-960.”

1941? MB Bayless, Mo $4000

1941_mb_baylessOk, so 80% restored doesn’t classify as almost finished.  It’s a bit pricey for what appears to be a hefty project still.  The body appears in pretty decent shape though.

“Here is your chance to own an ORIGINAL 1941 Willys, 80% complete!! It has primer on it and is ready to be painted, NO RUST!! NO BODY PUTTY, all original parts except for the wheels.  Here is what is new:  Brakes, Gas Tank, Windshield frame, Carb, Battery, Plugs, All bought from Swamps. It’s a nice looking MB, but I think the claim that this is a better investment than your 401k is a bit over the top.
