1950? Custom Jeep Brimfield, MA $2430

UPDATE: Still Available.

(09/21/2020) Here’s a utilitarian rig.

“50’s military Jeep converted to a plow rig and grader. Has power up and down grader blade on rear of Jeep. Plow on front , hydraulic up and down. No turn pistons on at the moment but the lines are there to install. Plowed twice with Jeep. It’s a beast. Took in trade. The guy I traded with said he noticed a clicking noise in front end. Removed cover and said one tooth missing from ring gear. I haven’t been into it to see what is going on. I plowed with it in 4×4 and it was fine. Needs 4 glow plugs installed which I have. It’s a diesel. Motor is a 4 cylinder Ford Has a roll cage. Cool rig for a camp or farm. Well built. Firm on price. Thanks for looking. Runs excellent. Has small fuel leak on very top of injector pump. O-ring on top shaft. Easy fix for someone who is mechanical. I have a plow truck. Just don’t need this. Come check it out.4 new tires. Will consider a trade for a decent quad with plow”

“1942 Willy’s MB WWII jeep with soft cover and military wagon. MP (military police) version with siren. Runs good but has some oil leaks. Recently tuned up with new points, cleaned carburetor, new fuel pump and new 8V battery. Was restored by a WWII war veteran (my wife’s grandpa) in the early 1980’s. 1942 Slat Grille MB Salt Lake City, UT **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: MB • TAGS: , , , .

UPDATE II: This sold on eBay for $20,300.

UPDATE: I thought this had sold on eBay 09/2020. On the ebay ad the extra plate could be seen. It is a remanufactured jeep, completed by the Moore Corporation (data plate on dash).

The seller of this jeep, which as been stored for 50 years, claims this is all original. But, this Willys MB had GPW tool lids. It also has a small plate, probably a reconditioning plate, above the standard data plates. I wish there was a close-up pic of the dash.

Year? MB? Redding, CA $2499

No title. Unsure how much value is here. It does have a set of Watson hubs.

“1947? Willys Jeep. No engine and comes with some extra parts. It has not been registered in decades, and the title is missing. I was told it is a 43, but I’m not a jeep expert and several people have told me it is 46 up. I don’t know how to confirm this. Your guess is likely better than mine. It could be fun for someone who has more time than I but it’s a project I can’t find the time to dig into.”

1942 MB Carlinville, IL $17,500

Mark posted this MB to warjeeps.com.

“It is an accurate representation jeep for what one would have looked like in WWII. A serviceable jeep, in a sense. All WWII, but not an all matching jeep.

It has an MB TUB, with a GPW frame. It is not by any means perfect, but would be a great ‘driver jeep’ and is mechanically near perfect.

Problems would be…

-Slight Rust on frame (can show pictures)… Around a foot strip that would use repair
-One blackout light needs replaced
-Windshield fold out needs fixed

Besides that it is a very nice jeep.

Please email me for more pictures & I will get them sent your way.

I can work with you on shipping anywhere in the lower 48 US states.”

1944 MB w/ Trailer Eugene, OR **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $20,000.

This has a pair of early Husky hubs.

“1944 Willys MB with ¼ ton trailer. Sold as a set only.
Excellent condition, been garaged.
Serial # MB 340573
DOD: First week of June 1944
Clear Oregon title for both trailer and jeep.

Vehicle was purchased from a friend of mine in about 2002. I have records of its ownership back to the early 70’s and some correspondence back to the early 60’s. Between 2002 and 2003 the body and frame were separated, engine, transmission and transfer case removed. Frame and tub were sandblasted, primed and painted. There was some minor rust repair done, and the fuel tank well and the fuel tank were replaced due to corrosion. Front frame bumper brackets were replaced as well as the front bumper. Top frame and brackets are replacements.

The wiring harness was replaced with a period copy. The tires are aftermarket replacements, and the combat wheels were purchased as second hand items, sandblasted and painted. Seat covers are aftermarket copies. To the best of my knowledge the rest is original, save some fasteners and other small components. The goal from the beginning was to repair the major issues and re-paint to original military color leaving as much untouched as possible.

1942 MB Los Gatos, CA $15,000

Fr. Thomas Archer is selling this Willys MB. He plans to send all proceeds to the Church of the Immaculata in St. Mary’s Kansas. See details here: https://www.anewimmaculata.org/.

1942-mb-losgatos-ca1 1942-mb-losgatos-ca4 1942-mb-losgatos-ca3 1942-mb-losgatos-ca2

“Built in August of 1942 this is an early war Jeep that saw it all, rolling off the assembly line the week we invaded Guadalcanal and months before we landed in North Africa.

I am going to say it needs total restoration as I don’t want to nit pick with a bunch of tire kickers – though others would call it parade ready. It is a good solid Jeep that has minimal rust with solid metal in the floor (one spot under passenger seat. Some rust in hat channels and tool indents though the gas tank well is solid.

Engine looks like it has a civilian Willys head on a pre-war Go-Devil engine.

I put 5 new tires and tubes on it recently. I also added the top bows and while all the hardware is great, I am not happy with the quality of the bows. Still, they come with the Jeep. I also put the original WW2 front hubs back on it and got rid of the postwar lock-out hubs you see in some of the pictures. I have the front seat back pad I just took it off temporarily to accommodate my “front pad” if you know what I mean. Also, replaced windshield rubber and added wipers recently.

Pictures in the ad go from more to less recent. It does have a heavy front bumper with a tow bar that comes with it. Bumper gussets are present and intact though one has a crack. Front serial number plate is still present on the front frame member. It runs, drives and stops fine and 4WD and Hi-Lo work as they should. As I said this is a solid restoration candidate and a way to help a worthy cause at the same time.

I am aware that the price may be considered relatively high-ish but I am not overly interested in selling it other than as a means to help a charitable cause”

“1942 Willy’s MB modified for off-roading. Lots of aftermarket and swapped parts added on, a ton of fun even just to drive on the street. The motor is a Ford 289 (might be a High Output but not sure) from a 60s Mustang with a mild cam, mated to a 4 speed T18 trans. Dana 44 in the rear, Dana 20 up front with a Dana 18 transfer case. It is running on open headers at the moment, but I have the mufflers if you want them. The car sat for a handful of years, but I have completed a lot of maintenance work and she runs and drives very strong:

Florida Senator Claude D. Pepper in BRC-40 and His Campaign Jeep

• CATEGORIES: Bantam-FordGP-WillysMA-EarlyJPs, Features, MB, Old Images, Unusual

UPDATE II: Somehow I missed this second version of the Senators with Charles Payne driving down he steps on May 20, 1941:

PHOTO CREDIT: Florida State University’s Digital Repository https://diginole.lib.fsu.edu/islandora/object/fsu%3A154424

Published March 28, 2021: Here’s another, earlier jeep photo, including a dedication by Charles Payne, related to Senator Claude Pepper in a Bantam BRC-40. According to the Florida State University Digital Archives, Senator Robert Reynolds is driving the jeep, Senator Claude Pepper is in the passenger seat, and Charles Payne and Harold Crist are seated in the back. The photo is dated May 1941.

Also, according to a June 02, 1968, column by Larry King in the Miami Herald, there was a video taken of Senator Pepper riding up the steps and it was to be shown on TV on June 30, 1968. I was unable to find the video on the internet.

ORIGINALLY POSTED DECEMBER 09, 2012: This pictures tells the tale of Senator Claude Pepper‘s bid for re-election as a Senator from Florida in the 1950 race.  Like his jeep, Senator Pepper’s campaign crashed that year as well.

PHOTO CREDIT: State Archives of Florida, Florida Memory, http://floridamemory.com/items/show/36090 CAPTION: Addressed to George Smathers from his friend Carl L. Hahn, an accompanying note says, “Here’s what is left of the Pepper machine in Palm Beach County – Souvenir of your successful 1950 campaign.”

The accident led to a lawsuit against the driver and Senator Claude Pepper. The appeared in the August 04, 1950, issue of the Palm Beach Post:
