“JEEP VOLKSWAGEN KIT CAR. The vehicle has not run in a while, but engine does turn.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
This was for sale back in 2014.
“This is a original Willy’s Jeep turned into a veep. Runs like a dream, and only minor dents for the body being as old as it is. When I say it’s a Veep I mean that it is the style of the Veep kits they made in the 70’s but instead of the plastic body, this is a real ’47 Jeep. I wish I could keep it but I’m a college kid who needs money to pay for school/rent so I’m open to offers. Text is preferred.”
UPDATE: *Status Unknown** Was $2000. Pics provided. It’s not a 1943. It’s VEEP-like, but I can’t tell if this is a VEEP.
“1943 Model Willies Jeep Built New In The Philippines In 1980 on A Stock Volkswagen Drive Train. 1600cc Motor, This is not a vw conversion. This is the way it came stock from the factory. $2,000.00”
UPDATE: Was $5500. **SOLD**
Looks like a fun veep-like rig.
“This is a professionally built custom Dune Buggy set-up.
Chassis is 100% custom with an all steel built in roll cage frame and under body plate.
Powered by a 1973 VW bus engine and upgraded transmission, racing clutch and suspension.
Body is a fiberglass Jeep body and needless to say unique unique unique.
Built well and runs and drives great! Also has 4 wheel disc brakes and stops on a dime.
Great for off roading, sand rails or just showing off just about anywhere.
Asking $5500 obo.
Also might be interested in a good trade. Old cars, RATRODS, golf carts, ATVs or anything cool. (Just not your old junk)”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3200.
It looks like it was built from a GPW or MB body.
“This is a 1941 Willys jeep on a custom rail frame, has a VW front end and a VW transaxle w/ a 1641 VW engine, new upholstery, full rubber floor mat, roll bar, bikini top. it has a tow bar, 2 door frames w/canvas, a AM FM radio w/CB. runs great a lot of fun on or off road. IF IT LASTS THAT LONG………………….It would cost that much or more to build it. call”
UPDATE: Chris has begun working on his veep project. You can follow his progress at this VW related site: http://fundubs.com/SimpleMachinesForum/index.php?topic=2848.0
Chris just picked up this VEEP project that’s missing a few items. He’s hoping to locate the 50 page installation manual that Hadley Engineering published. I’m not familiar with that particular manual, but if someone has one that can help out Chris, that would be great!
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3900 (was original for sale here in 2012)
(03/12/20314) Here’s a good looking Veep or Veep-like VW jeep.

(12/08/2013) Anyone know what company might have built this in 2004? Nice looking VEEP!
“2004 DUNE BUGGY, VW VERSION OF A JEEP, CALLED A VEEP! ALSO HAS OTHER NAMES: VEEPSTER, SCAMP, GPV (GENERAL PURPOSE VEHICLE) OR A CONVERTIBLE. I JUST CALL IT MY SHOW CAR!
THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST, COOLEST VEHICLE YOU WILL EVER COME ACROSS AND A MULTIPLE FIRST PLACE SHOW WINNER… THIS WAS VOLKSWAGEN VERSION OF AN OLD WILLY’S / WILLIS JEEP, KNOWN AS A VEEP! THIS ONE WAS FACTORY BUILT IN CALIFORNIA FROM SMALL COMPANY IN 2004. AND THIS IS NOT THE CHEAPER VERSION THAT THEY TAKE A SOLID FIBERGLASS BODY AND JUST SET IT ON VW CHASIS. YET, THIS ONE HAND BUILT OUT OF A COMBINATION OF STRONG FIBERGLASS, ALUMINIUM AND STEEL BODY PARTS WITH VERY STRONG BOXED TUBE STEEL FRAME / CHASIS THAT TIES INTO THE STEEL BUMPERS AND ROLL CAGE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT IS BUILT EXTREMLY WELL. IT COMBINES THE RELIABILITY AND CHEAP MAINTANCE OF THE VOLKSWAGEN WITH THE SUPER TOUGH BODY OF ALUMINIUM AND RUST FREE FIBERGLASS. PARTS ARE SIMPLE, CHEAP AND EASY TO OBTAIN THROUGH AND VW SHOPS AND JEEP OFFERS MULTIPLE PRODUCTS TO CUSTOMIZE ANY WAY YOU DESIRE. THESE VEHICLES ARE GREAT OFF ROAD AND I KNOW IT WOULD BE BETTER AND GIVE IT MORE OF THE JEEP LOOK IF I RAN THE BIGGER WHITE WAGON WHEELS AND TIRES. YET I USE IT AS DRIVER TO WORK AND TAKE THE HIGHWAY TO THE CAR SHOWS, SO I WENT WITH THE WHEELS TO ACOMPANY THAT. AND WAS TOLD THAT RIMS ARE QUITE RARE AND WORTH PRETTY PENNY. I JUST LIKE THE WAY THEY LOOK AND RIDE DOWN THE ROAD. WEATHER YOU WANT TO WIN 1ST PLACE AT YOUR LOCAL CAR SHOW, ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS, TOW BEHIND YOUR RV (VERY LIGHTWEIGHT), TURN IT INTO FULL BLOWN JEEP, GO OFF ROAD OR THE SAND DUNES, USE IN PARADE, HAVE A ONE OF A KIND DUNE BUGGY, OR JUST PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND DRIVE IT, YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE NICER. YOU PROBABLY CANT EVEN FIND ANOTHER ONE…
Paul was kind enough to share this very rare Hadley Engineering VEEP brochure in the hopes that it helps the VEEP owners out there who struggle to find information about their vehicle. Below are photos of the basic brochure. I also have assembly instructions that I haven’t scanned yet. Great stuff! One unique item I hadn’t notice before was the stamped ‘VEEP’ in the hood. I’ve never seen that in any production VEEPs. If you ever run across a hood with VEEP stamped in it, I’d be interested to get some photos.
UPDATE: A builder’s manual for the VEEPSTER has now been posted.
I’ve known about the VEEP Jeep Kit, from Hadley Engineering out of Costa Mesa, California, but I recently learned about two additional VW kit jeeps: The Veepster and the SCAMP. However, I’m still not clear what differentiates a VEEP from a SCAMP or a VEEPSTER.
The SCAMP VW KIT was built and sold out of Redding, California, in the early 70s. I found this ad at the TheSamba.com website
Here’s a beautiful 1973 SCAMP (lots of pictures), but I couldn’t say if this is entire stock or not:
The VEEPSTER VW kit car was sold by VEEPSTER, LLC, out of Mesa, Arizona, according to Kit Car Guide. Curiously, a Czech Republic site and thesamba.com site show that a VEEPSTER VW Kit was sold by Sun Valley Autotech out of Scottsdale, Arizona. Here’s a builder’s and assembly manual for the VEEPSTER by the Sun Valley Autotech company.
The following two pics from this site reportedly show a VEEPSTER.
E-VEEPSTER: Meanwhile, there is a kit car seller out of Sedona that claimed in 2011 or 2012 to make an E-VEEPSTER. The company appears to have gone out of business. The body of the E-VEEPSTER looks more like a South African Gobex or Badger (especially the windshield) than a VEEP, SCAMP or VEEPSTER.
Here’s an ad from July 10, 2012 that was part of a sustainable business article from the Portland Business Journal:
You can see a very quick clip of a Veepster on Youtube:
According to Youtube, Venus Motors, Electric Car Options and Go Electric came together to build the e-Veepster. A CJ3A Jeep fiberglass replica with a chassis designed with aftermarket VW suspension and the Venus EV Drive System. Kits are available, assembly is available, who says EV’s aren’t available. Many styles to choose from but in Sedona, AZ this is Red Rock 1
OTHER KNOWN VW JEEP KITS:
The British Jago Geep
The South African Gobex
The South African Badger
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500.
(10/18/2013) Scott forwarded this unusual vehicle with a Willys Grille.
“Jeep style VW powered aluminum dune buggy / parade car, looks like a Jeep, a real attention getter and conversation piece, a great advertisement vehicle, single port motor, runs good, $5500.00 ”
Marc forwarded these two jeeps for sale in South Africa. The first is a Gobex Jade Jeep, a kit jeep that is no longer produced. Marc’s trying to find out what happened to them.
http://eastlondon.olx.co.za/gobex-jade-jeep-iid-484120158
The second jeep is a Badger Jeep, A veep-like kit car with a VW engine. What’s most interesting is that the tires are Desert Dog PCV Tires, yet the tires don’t include PCV like other PCV tires I’ve seen.
http://deneysville.olx.co.za/badger-jeep-kitcar-iid-469929616
This is an unusual vehicle that is part of a business. It’s the whole business that’s for sale. The jeep itself is sort of an electric VEEP.
“This is truly a one of a kind vehicle and business opportunity for any EV or automobile enthusiast.
For sale is a custom built Willys electric jeep. The details of this vehicle are hard to describe, but it is essentially a 1949 Willys body sitting on a custom frame, VW front end drivetrain , and custom all Electric drive!
This vehicle was built as a training and demonstration vehicle for ACE Technologies. See the website www.nopgas.us for more information. This vehicle has been used to train hundreds of EV enthusiasts and has been seen numerous times on TV and in parades.
For sale is the vehicle, with all of the technical documents, schematics, etc. AND the complete rights and ownership of www.nogas.us The domain will be transferred to your name and If you like, I will continue to host it free for the remaining of the year. This is a 144V vehicle, capable of driving at highway speeds. It needs a bit of TLC but is an excellent project vehicle or special events vehicle.”

UPDATE: Was listed at $7000. **SOLD** A volkswagen hummer kit car called the HummBug? Who knew? I thought this was odd ball enough to include.
“great kit car,vw bug power.very stout body. this is the boby hummer made this company quit building. runs ,drives good. new brakes on back.disc on front.body great execpt left fender has crack.radios dont go with car.pan great . master cyl leaks, needs boots on axl.full metal top w/roll over protection, metal doors .,classic, hot rod, rat rod, dune buggy. custom car, volkswagon.will go half swap for non project 6 cyl cj5,cj3a,tj,yj,jeep”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
It runs, but is an odd duck.
“Looks like old army jeep vw engine trade for 4wheeler or something else maybe a small enclosed trailer .
UPDATE: The status of Gobex is unknown. Their website is no longer active.
Here’s a couple unusual fiberglass, rear engine powered jeeps sold by a South African company called Gobex. These are updated versions of the VEEP. This might make a fun, different, race jeep body. The exchange rate between the US dollar and the South African Rand is approx $100 – R863, so the CJ2 Jade Jeep Kit costs R14,615 or $1697.68.
“MISSION: To become the leading provider of beach buggies, both long wheel base and short wheel base units. We manufacture the popular CJ2 and CJ6 replica Jeeps. The Company started in 1983 as Steve’s buggies on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal South-Africa. Over the years, as part of ongoing researh and development, a number of products have been refined and manufactured.”
http://www.gobex.co.za/index.htm
I found this body, which I believe is a Gobex body and not a Veepster body, at this site.
UPDATE: I found a second brochure that identifies this as a Sandman GPV
Has anyone ever heard of this Volkswagen/jeep model? It doesn’t seem to be a VEEP. Other searches yielded nothing about this unusual rig.

(11/20/09) You can learn more about VEEPS here.
“1951 Willys Jeep with custom chassis. VW air cooled powered. Only 12 built that I know of, done very nice. Inspected by the PA department of Transportation and issued a special construction VIN. Titled as a 1977 special construction. Draws a lot of attention. Very solid Arizona body. Nice Best soft top.”
UPDATE: This sold. Was on eBay.
VEEPs are pretty rare. This looks unusual even for a VEEP. I’ve never seen a hood decorated quite that way.
This doesn’t appear to be a VEEP, but a custom VW project.
“yes a VW Veep it is a Volkswagen front end, bus transaxle, with a 1776 engine on a factory built custom tube frame. it has a 1943 Willys / jeep body.
it has a bikini top. it runs great chrome rims w/ new tires ready to drive. could use some new paint, but not for having fun, its ready for that Call Barry then drive it home. @ 928 242 9837”
Hog spotted this one. While not a real VEEP, this custom VW Jeep is unusual.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $12,500.
This VEEP was up for auction in January of 2010.
“This is the cutest little machine that I think we have ever restored. It’s a Veep!An all steel Jeep body on a custom tube frame with a ball joint Beetle front endand swing axle rear end with an upright 1600cc VW engine tucked neatly behind the tailgate.
This particular example was built in the 1980’s by Hadley Engineering in California. The car was first owned by a 1980’s child star and was his first car when he got his license. This actor was in the film Cocoon as well as D.A.R.Y.L and a whole host of TV appearances as well.Tired of the Hollywood spotlight, he quit acting and went into photography and has become successful in that path as well. The car went into storage at some point in the 90’s and sat outside in a lot north of Hollywood until we bought it andjumped into the restoration. Instead of restoring it just as it was, it was decided to turn it into a VW poweredversion of the legendary and highly collectible “Jeep Surrey Gala”
