VW JeepRod Largo, FL $3,500

• CATEGORIES: Jeep Rods, Unusual, Willys Trucks

Merlin spotted this oddity; I hope Irma didn’t sweep it away. Some folks on Facebook immediately dismissed it, but I think it was pretty well executed for what it is. The VW hood even mates up with the truck cowl pretty well. We’ve seen much worse….

“Very different and one of a kind rat rod. Built on a 1969 VW Beetle chassis with a 1972 dual port 1600 motor. 1960 Willys truck cab and title. Motor is fresh, completely new brake system, new tires, nice looking rims. Needs wiring to be completed. I have lost interest, too many other projects.”

1971 CJ-5 American Fork, UT $2000

This has some useable parts, may have the 30 spline offset axle, and definitely has a Warn OD. The front of the frame may have a twist.

“1971 jeep. The motor is a small block 350. The transmission and transfer case were totally gone through by six states. All seals, gears, bearings, angers have been replaced with new ones. $1000 was put into it having it rebuilt. The engine has 125lbs of compression on all eight cylinders. It has a new starter It has a brand new aluminum radiator. Need to get rid of it, I just don’t have a need for it anymore and not enough time to work on it. A leaf spring is broken. And some bolts have snapped that hold on the leaf spring to the frame. I tried to show this in the pictures. It was like this when I bought it. Some rust here and there as well. Almost everything that is black I recently powder coated. Asking $2,000. Call or text if interested.”

1950 CJ-3A Mesa, AZ $3900

Looks a little rough on the outside, but it sounds like it might operate well.

“1950 Willys Jeep CJ3. Flat fenders, low hood line, flop down windshield. Twin stick transfer case, original front hubs, and a flat head. Redone engine / tranny / radiator by previous owner. Starts instantly, purrs nice. New brake master cyl, new brake lines and all 4 new brake cylinders, new seats front and rear, new tires, new altenator (no generator), new battery, booster twin electrical fans, new wiring harness, new lights, etc. Driven a few times each week, even when 115f with no issues. Gets a lot of attention and pictures everywhere I drive. Old ford/mercury trades considered – need cash for my truck project before my wife gets more upset with me.”

Early Warn Brochures

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features

I missed out on these early Warn brochures that sold on eBay. There were two hubcap brochures, also known as “summer hubs”. The third brochure (in yellow) touts the Automatic Warn Hub. According to Hugo Vidal, Warn Industries and Hugo’s company AVM had all kinds of trouble with the Automatic hub, so it was discontinued (possibly in favor of the Warn Lockomatic hub?).

Jeeps at the Museum of Military History in Kissimmee

• CATEGORIES: Features, Museums

Roving eWillys correspondent Tim Evans braved Hurricane Irma to file this report.

He wrote, “I arrived in Orlando, Florida, last Wednesday (9/6) to attend a conference, but found out late Thursday that it was canceled.  That gave me time to visit the Museum of Military History where I found a M38 and a M151 jeep. Then I began a long slow drive home to Kentucky Friday morning, arriving late on Saturday.”

Always good to see people taking their unpaid, completely volunteer, unheralded work as eWillys correspondents seriously. I may have to upgrade his title to Chief Hurricane Correspondent!

1949 CJ-3A Bonney Lake, WA $2900

Daryl’s got a good price on this jeep. It has a Warn winch and what appears to be a warn overdrive.

“Great little Jeep that has been sitting for several years.
All original drivetrain except for motor is a Buick v6.
Motor fires but needs carb rebuilt.
Spent it’s whole life in Eastern Washington so has very little rust.
Powerlock in rear axle.
11” brakes on all 4 corners.
Upright Warn winch that works.
Clean Washington title in my name with collector plate.’

1942 GPW Hobart, IN $7500

Blaine shared this GPW.

“1942 Ford GPW Script: Serial number 34183. Date of delivery, 6-16-42. This is a project jeep. The engine is an original GPW, it does not match the frame and data plate in numbers. Engine is stuck, but shows no external damage or cracks. Transmission is the correct early type with the fill plug on the right side. Radiator is F-marked as are most of the other parts on the jeep. Does not have combat wheels. I do not have extra parts to put with it. What I did have, is now on the jeep to make it complete. I have an original WWII pintle hook to put on, but it is not F-marked. Body is great shape for its age. Rust issues have been documented in the photos. The frame is exceptional. The front gussets are gone but the horns have never been plated, gusseted, welded or broken. This goes for the rear also. To make the dash more complete, I put a new temp gauge in, and a new keyed ignition switch. I have also included another original grill since the one on the jeep is banged up bad. Sold without title.”
