L-134 Kaiser Supersonic Engine Hubbard, OH $300

• CATEGORIES: Engine, Parts

Brent’s go this Kaiser Supersonic engine for sale.

“Kaiser (Willys) Supersonic 4L134 Engine. Came as an extra with my M38 project and do not need. Has been torn down for inspection and is pretty clean and not in bad condition. Will still need a rebuild. Engine Ser# 3558976. Would work in any Willys Jeep requiring an L134 engine. The head however is not a supersonic head. Not a bad price with the current prices on replacement L134 blocks.”

1953 CJ-3B Eagle, CO $7500

This appears worth a look.

“Selling my 53 Willys. I just don’t use it enough. This is a 53 body, on a 58 frame. It has a Dauntless V6 out of a 67CJ. Lots of upgrades;
11 inch brakes with dual reservoir master cylinder, updated steering with a saginaw steering box, new tie rods, etc. All new springs and shocks. Engine was rebuilt 5 years ago and has maybe 1500 miles on it. Rebuilt transmission(T14) , transfer case ,and overdrive. Tires are excellent. Lots of spare parts included.
5:38 rear end so this is not a highway jeep”

“This Willys M38 is in excellent condition except for the top.
There is a Clean, Clear Colorado Title.
It is modified to a low miles Buick V6 called the 231 Even Fire.
The clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing are all new as well as the Brass Pilot Bushing in the back of the crankshaft.
It is a running, driving vehicle that needs a few little touch ups but overall it is a very good running machine.
The four shifters are as follows:
Three Speed with Reverse, Overdrive, 4X4 and the short one puts the entire unit in neutral.
You can shift into Overdrive in Every Gear.
All four tires are brand new, the brakes work excellent and the built on Winch is in perfect condition.
It is very fun to drive and it starts every time I have ever needed it.”

1949 Jeepster Kingman, AZ $10,900

• CATEGORIES: Jeepster

UPDATE: Price dropped to $10,900

(05/12/2022) The ad includes some good photos of the underside.

“IN KINGMAN ARIZONA! 1949 Willys Jeep Jeepster Overland. THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST RUST FREE JEEPSTER AVAILABLE. TWO WHEEL DRIVE. Older amateur restoration of a rare (2900 made in 1949) phaeton body style, and then stored for decades. Runs and drives. Steering and brakes good. Typical 6 volt system with “foot pedal” starter. 3 speed on the tree with overdrive, column shift. Engine OHV 4 cylinder (possibly a Hurricane 4), Gas gauge seems stuck and there is an aftermarket oil pressure gauge added. Top is in good condition and interior redone in a nice tweed (doesn’t get hot in the sun). There are no side curtains. Great around town grocery getter and take it to a show and be the only one!. Miles are unknown (hey, it’s 70 years old). Has assigned Arizona Vin and Clean title in my name. asking $10900.”

1949-cj3a-ham-mt8 1949-cj3a-ham-mt9

“1947 jeep CJ3A. I was told it ran when I bought it but I have haven’t spent the time to get it running. It’s rare to have a Jeep this old with the original paint, etc… What attracted me to this Jeep was the original paint and patina. I had lofty aspirations of restoring it, but it has just sat in my shop for years. It was used in the back country for years as a hunting rig by the original owner and I was told it has packed out a lot of elk. I do have a roll bar for it, work manuals, and a few extra parts. This would make a really good project for someone who loves Jeeps. And it would be an absolute blast to drive around town, or take it into the back country. It is an original Darby, Montana Jeep. And was used extensively off road in the back country for elk hunting expeditions by two friends. $3900 obo. “

This is pretty rough.

1944-mb-stevensville-mt6 1944-mb-stevensville-mt7 1944-mb-stevensville-mt8 1944-mb-stevensville-mt9

“1944 Willys MB military jeep. Not running it’s been sitting since 1979. It has a Studebaker flathead 6cyl in it from a early vintage engine swap. All other running gear is stock. The body is in okay shape for it’s age, the floor boards are pretty good but the two rear tool box bottoms are rusted out. The engine may be good, it does turn over by hand and by jumping the starter. The parts that I know are missing are the Radiator, window glass, headlights, taillights, rear driveshaft and seats. That’s all I know about this jeep, I have never heard it run or worked on it. Bought it last year and decided on another project that has more leg room. My loss your gain. It has no title I will give you a notarized bill of sale. Asking $950. Firm.”

Andy’s Argentine to Alaska Hiccup near Portland

• CATEGORIES: Features

UPDATE: Andy Reached Alaska!

The intrepid explorer overcame his obstacles and made it to the Alaska border the other day. Congrats on the continuing journey!

Originally posted May 30, 2023:

Andy, from Argentina, standing in his engine compartment at Washougal Classic Jeep while Richard and Jake work on his engine.

Recently, through Facebook, I was made aware of Andy, who is driving his Willys wagon from Argentina to Alaska. I lack many of the details, but I know that by early May Andy had made it all the way to Oregon when his engine finally gave out. Unable to go any farther, he and friends reached out through Facebook to find someone would could help him fix his engine (a couple posts on this FB page).

2023-05-15-andy-breaksdown2 2023-05-15-andy-breaksdown1

Richard Darr of Washougal Classic Jeep, near Vancouver, Washington, volunteered to help. While Andy stayed with a friend in Tigard, Oregon, Richard towed the vehicle to his place, diagnosed the problems:

“The engine has some serious issues for sure and the cracks have us spooked as well but we are going to try and breathe life back into this engine to hopefully finish the journey to Alaska. We really don’t know if the cracks happened recently or been there for quite some time. We are going to put a new timing set in and reseal the valves, clean out all the blockages in the cooling ports and new head gasket and top it off with a tune up and see what happens. Drive it around locally a bit to see how it takes. If it seems healthy enough to send Andy on his way then off he goes.. if not.. then we will have to switch gears and come up with a replacement engine or something. Jake and I are happy to do what we can to get Andy to the finish line of his more than 8 year Trek.”

After a couple weeks, Richard and Jake were able to repair the engine enough that Andy decided not to invest in another block. They test drove the wagon recently and are satisfied it is ready. Andy test drove it as well and says it is more powerful than it has been since Bolivia (I can only guess something happened to the engine there?). So, Andy is prepared to take off towards Alaska again.

Jake and Richard testing the wagon’s rebuilt engine, with Jake driving.

During the process, did require Richard to spend $400 of his own money (plus all the time). I’m going to send Richard $200 to cover half his expenses. If anyone wants to donate as well, you can send money directly to me through PayPal ( and I will send Richard an additional check based on any donations (he doesn’t have PayPal). If you have any questions, just email me:
