Mike, who’s admitted he’s addicted to searching for jeeps everywhere (welcome to the club!), spotted this one for sale. He reports there is rust and no data plates. The odd part about this M-38 is the lack of a driver’s side filler hole.

This looks like a parts jeep.

“I have for sale a 1951 M38. Rebuilt radiator, seat frames, bumperettes, instrument cluster, data tags and lots of misc. parts also go with this jeep. Vehicle is not running. (05/28/2013) The seller needs to adjust several of the claims, but I do find the spool on the front of this jeep interesting.

“This is not a civilian clone it’s a true military unit.

The front passenger side tire inner tube needs to be replaced.
The body is not perfect – the worst is the tool box under the passenger seat – a replacement costs $80.”

The lower edge of the body looks like it has been changed/modified.

Listed as a 3A, it looks more like a M-38 to me. Probably first titled in 1953.
