“1963 Willys. 350/350 automatic. Solid vehicle. Not a show car. Clean black interior. Paint is not perfect, but looks good. New 33” Wild Peak tires on 15×10 Pro Comp rims. Drives great in 2WD. Issue with 4WD. Front hubs will lock, but transfer case will not engage. Price has been dropped for this reason. Will consider trade/partial trade offers for another classic. K5, Chevelle, Vw Bus, Bug or Type 3 or something cool. Clean Ca. title in my name.”

“Old School build in family since 1956. 350hp/350 Chevrolet engine. Manual transmission with electric 33% overdrive. Dual fuel tanks, PTO winch, Dana 44 rear with post, Dana 25 front with post. Power steering, new battery and fuel pump (mechanical is new) electric fuel pump. 12” Lincoln brakes. This needs a new home with someone that can enjoy it.”

“Jeep FJ-6 1966 right hand drive. Old post office fleet van. Engine is junk but comes with another one that’s good. Frame is solid, body is galvanized so almost no rust, does have some dents. I don’t really want to sell it as it’s a personal project of mine but I wont be getting to it for a long time so I’ll just leave it posted if someone wants it bad enough. My plans are to bag it and slam it, but it uses a CJ5 chassis so you could easily make it a fun 4×4 rig.”

This eight-page October 1958 issue of Jeep News got buried in my files, but better late than never.

Page one share some dealer news about the Maverick tie-in, along with some thoughts on the surge in third quarter sales. Page two has a full page article about the FC-170 and its advantages. Page three describes how James Garner day in Oklahoma was cleverly co-opted by a savvy jeep dealer president Mead Norton, who made sure Garner, visiting broadcast reps, and the press were ferried from the airport and along the parade route with jeeps.

The Economy Delivery Van makes a surprise, huge showing on pages four and five with articles and photos. That’s possibly the most visibility that model ever received. Page six gives a shout-out to Clark County Sheriff’s Jeep Posse out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Page seven is all Maverick Bros. Page eight describes the 1958 dress rehearsal jeep caravan, used to test the roads and generate thoughts on the best routes for the 1959 Colorado Centennial event, which was expected to attract more than 1000 entrants.
