“This 1979 Mitsubishi J24H Jeep is an original. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle is drivable.
2.7L 4DR5 Diesel 4 cylinder, 30 MPG
Ultra Tough 24V System
4WD equipped
Right Hand Drive from Japan
Runs and drives good, turn key starts up every time. Off road ready Willys style JEEP!
Front floor pans will need to be replaced, I found replacement floors for about $60 total for the metal
Everything else is solid, a few imperfections, dents as seen on pictures
Very cool unit that you could get into for cheap and restore to your desired taste.
Please message me with your email if you would like a short walk around video of it running”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
Glenn’s helping sell this CJ-5 with a Koenig PTO winch.
“Grampa’s JEEP just out of storage. It’s a CJ5 put together many years ago from several donors. All stock, no rust, nice full cab, free running hubs, recent paint, looks great but not show quality. Body has been weld repaired, excellent frame, brakes working well, all gears quiet, engine runs but has an ocassional skip. Nice Koenig PTO Winch as per factory specs. I just drove it around and it goes and sounds like an old Jeep should, like an old school build from the 70’s. Maybe fresh gas or some tune up will help, but you can go JEEPIN’ today. Selling for a friend, Grampa’s Grandson. Grampa lived to 100 and was a fanatic about details. Bill of Sale only. If you need title, it’s at your expense as Maine is no title needed for this vehicle. Contact me thru C.L. for phone, more pix, or discussion.”
This apparently has a rear facing PTO, but there’s no hole in the bumper for the shaft to connect to a rear gearbox (or am I missing something).

“1947 CJ2A Willys Jeep Very original condition except for paint and seats Starts, runs, drives, and stops great Still 6 volt system Has rear PTO setup Comes with many extra parts including plow w/pump and controls, extra set of 4 original painted wheels with tires, transmission, new hood in box, lockout hubs, tow bar, and more! I will consider interesting trades Located in northeastern Pennsylvania”
This looks to be an ex-racing jeep. That pinto engine might have some other HP updates besides the offy intake manifold. Note those “heart” rims; I’ve never seen them before (see last pic).

“I have a very nice 1974 CJ-6 for sale with a great running 4.2 (258) straight six cylinder. Motor runs perfect and is strong. PO siad it had a rebuild about 4K ago. I believe it. Jeep came out of Colorado and is pretty much rust free and very solid, including hats channels, floors and tool box floor. Very hard to find these in New England or anywhere else for that matter. Original T14, Dana 20, flanged 44 rear and Dana 30 up front with drums on all four corners. Brakes were done by PO and have all new parts, but need to be blead better.
What I have time to do and new parts include new Bestop just installed last year new. 5 ew BFG Mud Terrains 31/1050-15 on Renegade alloy rims. Rims are good from 10 foot away, but could use a good cleaning. Also added last year was a very nice and straight swing tire carrier close to correct era. Jeep was originally cooper metalic, not orange. Full roll bar, nicely done. New full tank. Power steering, but manual brakes. Very comfy seats even for bigger people. Installed new rear emergency brake cables. Awesome running 74 intermediate CJ6.”
Seems worth a look.

“Super clean Jeep here! Nice leather seats, roll bar, soft top with doors and zip outs. It was upgraded to a 12 volt system with an alternator. Has power steering, heater, and nice sounding exhaust. No rust in the body. Comes with 5 brand new Yokohama MT’s and Aluminum Wheels. Has spare mounted on a receiver for back or front bumper. Has additional rear fuel tank. Has warn overdrive, and manual locking hubs, good brakes, and new windshield. Starts right up, the Buick V-6 runs great, plenty of power. It is a 3-speed manual and the clutch is in good shape, very positive and no slip. Comes with tow bar as well. Less than 60,000 miles. All the lights work, and it has a clean title. Price is OBO, so feel free to make a fair offer, but please consider how rare these are and especially in this condition.”
This was up for sale back in 2012. Now, it’s being relisted. No description provided.
Given the colors, this is likely a former Shriner Jeepster.

“Project CJ2A. Pretty complete Jeep including a full PTO system. Body is rough but salvageable and frame is in decent shape with the exception of the front frame horns and one spot by the master cylinder. Was told that it ran five years ago but has been sitting since then. Does not currently run. Will probably need to be gone through regardless. Asking $3,800. Bill of sale only NO TITLE”
A photo from the May 30, 1959, issue of the Eugene Guard showing the FC-170 “EL Borrego” with the Boyds.
UPDATE: This series of articles was first published in 2015. I’ve updated with several additional articles and photos.
==============================
(First published February 15, 2015) This interesting collection of news articles captures Howard & Ora Boyd’s 1958 trip in an FC to South America. The first article was published prior to the trip. The second was published during the trip. The third was published following the trip. I was only able to find one photo and it was poor at best. It may have been that the Boyd’s got the idea from the Schreiders, who did nearly the same route three years before them.
Howard Boyd died in 1993, but Ora Boyd lived until 2009, dying at the age of 106, meaning she was born around 1903. Living much of their lives near Eugene, Oregon, according to her obituary their year-long jeep trip was one of her all-time favorite memories. The obituary was published in the Talent, Oregon, Historical Society newsletter, so I’ve written them to see if we can learn more.
1. This October 31, 1958, EugeneRegister-Guard article discusses trip preparations. The Boyds had a custom camper built for their FC (though no articles mention the model of the vehicle — it looks to me like an FC based on the pic below). They named their jeep “El Borrego”.
2. November 09, 1958 Eugene Guard .. brief article:
3. December 14, 1958, from the Eugene Guard:
Tom spotted this early CJ-5. It may be worth a look.

“Willy’s Jeep running driving.. Army tires and wheels..”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $400.
David shared this ad with me. The jeep has an Allison three-speed automatic transmission (it was a 2-speed BW auto trans that was installed in some 1964 DJ-3As). It’s unclear to me if this was some kind of special order or if it was customized. The radiator has been swapped out with an older radiator, so this has seen some modification.
“4 cylinder flathead, Allison 3 speed automatic. 2 wheel drive. Rough. Been sitting a long time. Did run and drive, when parked. But I have no idea condition of engine now.”
This looks like a good price. It may have some vintage Runck bumpers.

“PA Titled 1953 WIllys CJ-3A. It is actually made up of Military Axles and engine, DJ-3A Tub, 3A transmission and drive train. I call it Muttly. It has a redone Military L134 Engine, and brakes, Tires are newer about 2 years old and I don’t put a lot of miles on it. I have re-done the electrical for headlights, and put in a new clutch. It does drip from the oil pan a little. The transmission pops out of second, but I do have a fully rebuilt transmission that I will provide for the price I list. I did replace the seats and add the spare tire carrier, jerry can holder, wipers, and a ebrake. I have other projects now and need space. $7500.00 OBO. I will supply a non-rebuilt transmission (dis-assemble ready to be rebuild for $500.00 less.) I also have a second 1947 title CJ-2A Ready for rebuild”
Has some narrow hurricane rims.

“Runs and drives well. Does over 50mph. The previous owner had this a long time and did many modifications. It has a Dana 44 narrow track rear axle. I believe the front is upgraded also. Saginaw steering setup. The motor is an early 70s 2.0 Ford. The floor has been patched numerous times. Either way it’s a drivable 2a with paperwork and I’m firm on the price. Original vin tag on firewall, current RI registration in my name”
